High quality pan, excellent value!

I searched for a long time to find a pan suitable for making my 'giant' lasagna. I had been using large, 5-inch deep aluminum foil roasting pans for years, but they were always flimsy and needed to be supported on a cookie sheet - making them a pain to transport to family events. To make matters worse, I couldn't even find decent deep foil pans anywhere locally last year and was forced to make 2 separate lasagnas. I had looked at some other large pans, many costing upwards of $300, with a couple weighing as much as the lasagna itself - all which seemed a bit overkill as I might only use the pan 2-3 times a year. This year, I had no major issues at all - except that my almost 6-inch thick lasagna weighed in at probably 45 lbs. The pan, however, easily survived being in the oven for over 3 hours (without a cookie sheet), and did not warp or bend at any time while being transported. The pan was super easy to clean after the lasagna was gone. While this particular pan doesn't have 'real' handles, the lip of the pan is wide enough and sturdy enough to carry it without any trouble. If you want handles, there is actually a version of this pan that includes handles (Vollrath 30066 Super Pan Full Size x 6" D Handled Food Pan ), which was not available when I decided to purchase this pan. Since the matching Vollrath covers were also unavailable at the time of my purchase, I grudgingly ordered Winco covers, which turned out to fit this pan perfectly. I used a flat cover (Winco SPSCF 1/1 Size Solid Cover ) upside-down during baking, then used a domed cover (Winco C-DCF Polished Dome Cover with Handle, Full Size ) during transportation and serving.

More Than Just a Catering or Restaurant Product!!!

Extremely well made and easy to clean. I am not a caterer or restauranteur, just someone who loves cooking with great equipment. I have had great luck with Vollrath products. Here's the confession: I am actually using this as a cat box! No matter how often I cleaned the plastic cat boxes I've had over the years, they end up taking on odor. This way, I can simply wash it with soap and water, without using deodorizing sprays and wipes that can repel felines from their boxes. I also bought a 8-inch-diameter Bain Marie with cover/lid, which I am lining with plastic produce bags and using as a receptacle for the scooped waste. (I'm using a RSVP stainless litter scoop.) I'm hoping that the manufacturer will not be offended, but instead see this as a new market for their product. Add "cat box" to the product search words!

Great quality

I use this for boiling sap over an open fire. The good quality made in USA stainless steel makes me feel good about what my syrup is being made in. Many of these type of pans are not as high of quality as this one...also made in Asia somewhere. It can hold close to 5 gallons of sap. Buy two is my advice, so you don’t constantly kill your boil. It’s a little spendy but worth it for what I do. Being used over a fire the outside of it will never clean up the same again as you’d expect but the inside of it cleans up nice and clean with one of those Scotchbrite green scrubber things you use in the kitchen for your pans.

Great deep steam table pan for large quantities in the oven

Great steam table pan, deep and strong enough to make a large quantity of shredded broccoli shredded carrot and oatmeal for dog food. i’m also bought the lid that fits it. Convenient for large quantities in the oven only

Great quality pan

We used this to boil down maple syrup. It worked perfectly. The gauge of the metal was perfect to with stand the high temperatures of the open fire. We had fire under it for days. We are very happy with how sturdy it is.

Just what the smoker ordered!

These pans are a perfect fit in a Cambro or Carlisle insulated carrier. They certainly feel heavy duty and I imagine they will last nearly a lifetime. I love that the corners are set up to be able to pour out of. I have used these on my smoker and in my oven and they clean up great!

Came with what looks like rust spots. That shouldn't happen with stainless steel. Not worth returning but not worth the price I paid either
