Good, sturdy brush
I have several pastry brushes, but when I make something with phyllo dough, since every second counts, I want to brush butter on the dough quickly with a wide brush. This does the job quite well. Fortunately, I haven't experienced the shedding that other reviews mention. It's a good, sturdy brush that does what you expect it to do. I'm deducting a star because it doesn't have a storage cover to protect the bristles. I also wish Amazon had shipped it in a package that prevented the bristles from getting squished and misshapen. Otherwise, I recommend it.

Poor Packaging
I read the reviews, and it’s like every brand pastry brush had issues, but this one seemed less. I was not happy the brush was outside it’s packaging. Nothing wrong with the Amazon envelope, but the brush packaging was cut open at the bottom as you can see, and the brush was not in it. And some of the bristles were sticking out, and I’m sure from being loose in the envelope. I’m going to be keeping my eye on this brush for any loose bristles, as I don’t want those getting in my pastries as my last brush. The silicone ones don’t hold butter like the boar bristles one, but these cheaply made “Made in China” ones are sub par, and I hate to keep buying these more than I should be. I wish some US company would make these, as I’m sure they would last longer.

The right size. Works well for pastry.

A Very Good Pasty Brush
I like that it holds a lot of melted butter. I use it often when I make cinnamon rolls for painting the rolled out dough with melted butter. It has lost maybe three hairs, and I do not consider that a problem. I have washed it in the dishwasher, and, so far, so good, but I was wondering if down the road the finish on the wood handle may degrade. The dishwasher does such a good job of getting it clean.

Terrible! Ruined a tray of Christmas baklava!
Bought this brush for a replacement of an older pastry brush that had worn out. Not the most expensive brush but not the cheapest either. Washed it before use in a glass of warm water with a mild dish detergent. Rinsed thoroughly and gently tugged the bristles to remove any loose ones. This brush deposited dozens of bristles into a tray of baklava that was very expensive to make on it's first use. Went into the trash. Absolute garbage, would give it zero stars if I could. Don't waste your money.

Love these brushes!
The width of this brush makes it very easy to brush melted butter on phyllo dough. The bristles are fine and thick to pick up the butter and spread easily. Note: FYI do not put brushes in dishwasher. They dry out and water gets into the ferrule and, after time, will ruin the brush. Wash in a glass of hot sudsy water and rinse under running water being careful not to hold brush upside down. Squeeze bristles to remove excess water and stand upright to dry. Do not store in plastic bag as it may breed bacteria.

Kitchen Staple
My mom has been using this brush since I could remember, so it's only natural I buy the same one. It's durable and literally lasts for years. Just remember, before use soak the bristles in warm water to get rid of any loose bristles.
