Excellent!
Only marked down because it was missing the packing cubes, not a big deal though.

Love it but have an ulterior motive
My plan is to have Delta break it. Then Delta will reimburse me and Pelican will replace it with the lime time warranty . Free suitcase ;). After a dozen flights Delta has only been able to scratch it all up but I have faith in there incompetence. They will eventually break it.

Airline proof! Looks great, lots of features.
After looking at a lot of rolling suit cases, including some upwards of $1500, this was the only one I knew would stand up to the abuse airlines will put luggage through. I’ve seen Pelicans get run over by trucks and not miss a beat. One trip down with this case reaffirmed it. The quality is typical Pelican - nothing but rugged and utilitarian. It’s got locks built into the latches, several interior folder pockets on the inside of the lid, I can’t imagine the wheels ever breaking but if they do, they come off as a unit for easy replacement, the long drag handle stows tight and secure, the lid has steel reinforced grommets for a more serious lock should you require it - all for a fraction of luxury suitcases that would surely fail well before this one ever will. The only downside is the weight - it’s pretty hefty so you hit 40lbs pretty quick filling it up.

Perfect
I have two of these now. I used it to haul fragile items to Africa this summer, and I just went camping with it and took it on a boat to an island off the coast of Boston. It scratches up pretty fast, but I like patina. Good sturdy locks and a chain make it burglar proof, and I wasn’t afraid taking it on and off the boat because it’s waterproof.

Awesome, tough, solid yet heavy case
I love the fact that this is a rough and tumble case. I've used it only once so far but I travel for a living and I will be on the road over 250 days a year. There are a couple of things I would change if I could. 1) If this could be a spinner case that would help tremendously! It's only a pull case. 2) I understand that its built to be tough, that's why I bought it. But it is a heavy case. In the neighborhood of 16+ pounds. So you need to be creative in your packaging. To keep weight down. Would I suggest this suitcase, yup sure would. Just be mindful of what it is and you will be good to go.

It works but wish it was lighter.
Wish it was a bit lighter. Overall great for travel if you have valuable

Worth every penny
It was worth every penny can pack it full and still keep it under 50lbs with it being thrown around in baggage clam it won’t brake like a normal suit case would, with the lid locks on all side me gives it keeps you stress free from not popping open in flight

Rugged. Tough. Awesome.
Awesome rugged suite case for traveling. Especially those that travel with tools or gear. Going to get a smaller pelican air to match. Retiring a 12 year old platt box. Great job pelican.

Arrived damaged from factory.
I get that it’s a Peli case, I’ve used loads of them over time to transport photo gear, and I know how tough they are. That’s not in question. But I am somewhat annoyed that I spend a considerable sum of money for it to arrive damaged. You’ll see that the packaging had a screw lodged in it - the same type of screw used to assemble the case. And you’ll see that this has scratched up the case in transit. I’m too close to my travel date to return it now, and yes, it’ll end up with far worse scratches over its lifetime, but this is a poor start. Other cases I’ve bought from Peli have been surrounded by foam in transit - which would’ve prevented this. This one was just shipped in a cardboard box with no other packaging (apart from a thin plastic liner). Not impressed folks.

Pelican 1615 Travel Case - Has Potential for Travel Suitcase
I've been purchasing Pelican cases and flashlights since the 90s. Over twenty years later and they've slowly evolved with better features. This Travel Case series is what made a slight pivot into modern times with: - easier handling (open/close) of the latches with no force unlike before - latches won't accidentally open when snagged on something - 40% lighter than the original case of the same size - carry handles that lock down and don't freely move - travel pouch and cubes (albeit flimsy) - TSA lock on top of the regular security lock What needs to improve: - Packing cubes are flimsy. There's no structure at all. It needs a better way to mount than loosely on the case. Like an internal clip or latch. Can it not be a durable Cordura-branded nylon at the very least for extra durability. Also needs a bit more rigidity. - Retractable handles are the same old one height level with no adjustment. Competitors have been offering multi-level adjustment to accommodate different heights. - Better additional locking system than a flimsy optional lock than can be easily cut. A solid metal bolt like Nanuk's TSA lock is the best even for this case. A shame Pelican can't do the same given it's size. I don't know how long Pelican can be a market leader in this segment. They are the leader in brand recognition, but competitors have caught up in features. Only time will tell if they can change and adapt with the times.

Oxblood Red colour definitely stands out among a sea of black.

Wrong color in product listing!
The one-star lousy rating is for the product listing on Amazon, not for the product itself. The listing stated "Pelican Air 1615 Travel Case - Suitcase Luggage (Blue)", however, the case I received is BLACK. So, now, how am I going to return this bulky and heavy product half-way round the world since I got this item shipped International to Singapore?
