love the watch. Concerned about the strap and compass
I ordered silver with brown leather strap. The bezel and case are steel and seemingly high quality. Its not a heavy watch but you do feel a bit of weight, which I prefer. The buttons seem responsive. The light / lumen requires a slight press to the crown button. I love the way the watch looks and feels. However, at first I could not get it work. I turn the crown button a few times and it started working perfectly after that. I'm unable to calibrate the compass properly. Either that or the compass broken. Seems to have an issue find the direction when in motion and when not in motion. Since the compass is only enabled for 20 seconds or so, direction is always off. I don't how else to describe it. Others have mentioned no directions. And that is true. This feels like more of a novelty semi-functional gimmick watch than something I would trust hiking. Maybe there's some other calibration required? I'll hunt around and see if I can find any documentation. The leather strap needs to break in. I might buy some leather conditioner if I decide to keep the watch. ## Update: got the compass working after watching a YouTube video specific to this watch. That video shows how to configure everything, time date, compass high low tide and temp.

Truly a Bargain
Right off the bat you need to know you may not get a new (as in never sold or worn) watch. This model from the Timex T2N collection has been out of production for several years and apparently Timex in the Netherlands has a number of the watches available. This was the second watch I bought from Amazon. The first one shipped from the UK proved to have a faulty compass motor. It was returned to the UK (on Amazon’s dime, of course.) The second watch—the one this review covers-- came from Amazon USA and has been a delight to own in spite of it, too, being very lightly used. First, it was missing the plastic guard under the crown which prevents the watch from running and wearing down the battery. Second, the strap shows signs of being used. Lastly, the box was not original to the watch. However, unlike my first purchase, this one came with tags and instructions and aside from the strap showing slight use, looks brand new. It was also $1.50 cheaper and I note Amazon has reduced the price again by half a buck from what I paid for mine. At under $80 this watch is a STEAL! Just look at the prices here for the same watch but with a different colored dial and strap. If this type of watch appeals to you with its many complications--in the watch world, the term “complication” refers to any function that does something other than basic timekeeping—this is one you should consider. While on the large side, it is comfortable to wear. The leather watch strap is well made and very durable but if you want to change it, Aliexpress is the place to go with prices 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the identical item on eBay. NOTE: my intent is not to be a shill for Aliexpress who clearly want to be known as the Amazon of Asia----they are not---but if you are willing to risk $10 for an item that is $30 on eBay, consider them. I also recommend spending $5.00 for Amazon's buyer protection plan which gives you a total of four years coverage. Over the years I've filed several claims with Allstate (who administers Amazon's plan) and have zero complaints. I’m a big fan of all things Timex and this one is one of the nicest ones I own. 5 ***** for sure.

Love it!
It doesn't come with directions. Here is what I've learned: Side button (3:00) has three settings. "In" is like in at every watch. "Middle" is to set the tide and the day. "Full Extension" is time. Push the red button (2:00) and the red dial will swivel to the temp, which is a loose interpretation of the temp. Push the black button (4:00) when the side button (3:00) is in middle, and you can set the tide. Use a tide chart online to make sure you are accurate. When the side button is “in”, pressing the black tide button just switches the dial from a temp reading back to tide reading. Compass is the button on the left. It’s a little jerky and doesn’t have the smooth swoop of a mono feature compass, but it’s effective. Don’t leave it on compass, it will drain the battery.

2nd Customer Return Received
I purchased this watch on Amazon twice from different sellers. I sent the first watch back because it was obviously a Customer Return. It was the last one from this particular seller and upon Amazon accepting the return, the seller showed this watch as 1 Available again. When I received the 2nd watch from a different seller on Amazon it was also obviously a Customer Return. I decided to keep this watch as I felt there was no point returning it as I would probably get another Customer Return. The watch was of interest to me as it displays Tide Times, Temperature and has a built in Compass. It displays Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Date as well as having 3 Push Pieces and a 2 position Crown which also activates the Indiglo Backlight. If the watch was Brand New it should have been fitted with a Crown Guard so that the battery would not be depleted whilst in stock / transit. Neither watches had this guard upon delivery. I am reasonably intelligent but it is a bit much for Timex to think that setting up the Compass & Tide Times is simple as neither watch included Instructions on how to set this watch up. It wouldn’t surprise me that the lack of these Instructions is why Customers seem to Return this watch. I was able to locate Generic Instructions from the Timex Website which should have been included with the watch at the point of purchase. As this 2nd watch looked Cosmetically New and I was now able to set it up, I decided to keep it. It is quite a Large, Satin Black cased watch which seems to work fairly well. That said this is more of a Novelty watch rather than a Serious Professional Instrument and as such does seem expensive. I do like the Black Silicon type Strap with its Red Reference mark above the 12-O-Clock position, is comfortable to wear and fits my large wrist well. The bi-directional Bezel has a very smooth action and is nicely marked up. The Push Pieces work as per the Instructions and the Indiglo Backlight does its job in low light conditions. Common to many Quartz watches in this price bracket, it is a little annoying that the Second Hand does not line up with the dial Minute markers. That said the dial is well printed and has a very interestingly complicated appearance. Despite this being somewhat of a Novelty watch, it is still a clever piece of kit, which I really do like. However, despite both watches being Customer returns, No Instructions, an Uncertain Battery Life and the Disappointment of returning, I will still award 4 Stars as I do like the watch even if I do have issues with both sellers on Amazon.

Unusual style but solid build and usual timex accuracy.
The watch arrived poorly packaged and on tearing open the strip to get into the package the watch box was open and the watch was already running. I strongly suspect that the watch has been on display and picked up for resale by Amazon. However, after inspection, there are no signs of wear or tear and I’m satisfied that the watch is unworn and in new condition, despite the battery life being depleted. Other reviews have said the watch comes without instructions but mine had instructions folded into the centre of the stand, where they remain as all the instructions you need are a YouTube click away. The watch itself is quite unique looking and seems to work well. It’s easy to configure if you look at some of the YouTube videos available and all in all I’m satisfied, especially as I got this at a low prime day price. I’m not sure I would have been happy to pay full price and receive the watch in opened box condition though.

It’s a Timex, it has unique and useful functions but irritatingly flawed
I thoroughly researched this watch before I bought it. The huge appeal was the tide and temperature indicators - unique, brave, a bold step for any watch manufacturer and useful to someone who moves over water between a mainland and an island. You don’t always know if the tide is coming in or going out or at what level it is. And sometimes it is useful to know which point of the compass you are heading though there is usually a compass on a boat. Nevertheless it can come in useful. And the watch does not disappoint with these functions. I love this watch and it offers more than an overpriced £5,000 branded chronograph (pointless) watch. But why oh why does the second hand miss its marks. So annoying and so sloppy for a manufacturer of this longevity and status. Someone should be sacked. If I was the CEO I would personally undertake the execution of whoever was responsible or if I was on the board insist the CEO resign over this. Aggghhh! And the numerals are a bit on the tiny side. That said I was warned and bought it anyway and I’m glad I did. I am Willing to overlook these unnecessary weaknesses. It’s a good, which could have been great, watch.

Disappointed because did not feel right
First let me say it is a beautiful watch. Reason for returning it because the watch box was open not seal , the watch dod not have any plastic cover from or back , date and time were already set .... hence it feel like a return from another customer hence not exactly brand new . All the watches I bought had always a seal , plastic trim and you had to pull a little plastic tag to start the watch. Unfortunately none on this beautiful watch.

OK, but not sure what it is meant for.
So, full disclaimer, I know very little about watches. So why did I buy this watch, Prime day, long and short it was on a sale and I liked the look of it. So to review. The second hand does not line up with the markings, like ever! WHY this triggers me every time. Thermometer (I did not realise it had one when I brought it) still don't know why it does. My wrist is typically 32degress science. Some online reviews say it is accurate but to be honest who is going to wait 15min for it to acclimitise? Gimmic factor 75%. The tides, this is why I got this watch for the tides, seems to work will have to see if still accurate in a few months. The compas, I had an old timex watch that save me in Venice when I was so lost I used the built in compas, I would not trust this one as much as that 15 year old watch. It works on first press but then does not track the vector so pointless. It is heavy, and big which if you like that sort of thing then it is. The strap is silicone, soft and pliant but I have struggled with heat, probably cos I have the skin of a baby. AT 65 quid I like it enough, but I would not buy again.
