Takes a licking, and keeps on ticking!
This Timex watch is similar to others I’ve worn over the years, when I’ve wanted something a watch that was sturdy enough for daily wear. Back when I was actively scuba diving I needed something different, of course, but for daily use now this watch is excellent. It survives getting bumped up against things that might damage either a cheaper watch or a much more expensive one, and performs its single function quite admirably— it tells time. I don’t need 14 alarms, or to know my altitude, or to work out percentiles on my wristwatch. Knowing what time it is is sufficient. [For that matter, I don’t need to have “military time” in tiny numbers, either. Those of us who’ve served know it, and I don’t know how it’s useful to civilians.] So, for a daily use watch in its price range, it’s Recommended.

Seems like a good basic watch.
This watch looks good. The indiglo light up feature works nicely in settings like a movie theatre where pulling out a phone would be too bright. It also only stays on as long as you hold the crown down. It's a nice even glow over the whole face, not a cheap looking light up feature. I reckon using this feature a lot will significantly lower your battery life, but it's nice to have when you need it. I immediately replaced the band with one that I think looks much better. No hate for the band that came with it. It was actually really soft genuine leather with quite a bit of stretch to it. I just prefer a bit stiffer watch band. After one day of wearing, I can say it keeps time well enough only one second lost in 24 hours. I will update this review if things change. I can't speak to the water resistance yet, but I do fish about once a week and should know soon enough if this thing has problems getting wet. My photo shows how it was packaged listed as like new condition.

Best $40 watch you can get.
40mm Expedition, blue face. A good basic watch. Easy to read with the lighted dial and the orange accents. I have a Timex white faced watch and a black faced watch. I keep it simple and have a few extra bands to switch out. I could spend several hundred on a watch but why. I see them as all about the same unless you are spending several hundreds or thousands, which I wouldn't spend on a watch. These simple Timex watches will go with anything by changing the band when needed. They are also rock solid. Cons: The band on this watch is a little loose and if I tighten to the next setting is too tight. I can't blame Timex for my wrist size. The idiglo is a great feature but always a bit dim. It's adequate.

It's a nice reliable minimalist watch.
The Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40 Watch is a stylish and functional timepiece that is ideal for outdoor adventures and everyday wear. The watch boasts a range of features that make it a standout choice for anyone in need of a reliable and stylish watch. One of the standout features of this watch is the Indiglo technology. The backlight illuminates the entire dial, making it easy to read the time in any lighting conditions. This is particularly useful for outdoor enthusiasts who need to check the time in low-light conditions or at night. The design of the Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40 Watch is both rugged and stylish, making it suitable for any occasion. The large, easy-to-read dial features bold, contrasting markers and a date window, and the sturdy resin strap is comfortable and durable. The watch is also water-resistant up to 50 meters, making it suitable for water sports and other outdoor activities. The functionality of the watch is impressive as well. The quartz movement keeps accurate time, and the adjustable Indiglo backlight allows you to customize the brightness to your liking. The watch also features a chronograph and alarm, making it a versatile timepiece for a range of activities. The build quality of the Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40 Watch is impressive. The watch is made from high-quality materials, and the construction is solid, with no loose parts or poor finishing. This means that the watch will last for years, even with regular use and exposure to the elements. In conclusion, the Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40 Watch is a 4.5-star timepiece that delivers on style, functionality, and durability. The Indiglo technology is a standout feature that makes this watch a must-have for anyone in need of a reliable and stylish timepiece. Whether you're an outdoor adventurer or just looking for a stylish watch for everyday wear, the Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40 Watch is a great choice.

Not a bad watch, not great one either
Timex watches have always served me well and usually fit well. My wrist is bigger than average and most watch bands don't fit without adding links or making my own band. This one fits comfortably and keeps time accurately. The downside, the numbers are a light gray on a dark gray background, making them more difficult to read. What's worse is when I try to use the light the numbers are unreadable for me. I'll keep it because it does fit well.

Excellent watch, Noisy movement
I have only owned this for a few weeks so I can't speak to its longevity. I think this is a very nice and very good looking watch. My daily beater is a Timex Expedition, this I wear more on weekends when I want to look a little better. I wouldn't hesitate to wear it with formal attire either although I don't get dressed up very often to warrant it personally. I love everything about this watch except as many other reviewers have noted it is noisy. My hearing is good enough that If I set it on my dresser on the far end of my bedroom a good 10 feet away I can still hear this thing ticking the seconds away while I am trying to sleep. Because of this I now store it in my bathroom. During most everyday situations there is enough other background noise to prevent it from being an issue but if I am trying to read a book in silence at home the sound of this thing ticking away causes me to take it off. I'm going to keep wearing and using it for the occasions I already use it. However if/when it becomes time to replace this one I will try to source a more silent option if at all possible.

Loud tick but love the indiglo illumination!
As a child I was always slightly envious of the few spoilt kids with their Indiglo illuminated watches compared to my fave casio f91w, even thought mine was a digital watch, the faint putrid green hint - that never quite illuminated the dial enough - was always slightly underwhelming. The indiglo feature in comparison is a breath of fresh air, and all these years later when I saw this on offer just before xmas I simply had to spoil myself and get it. Now I spent far too long just showing everyone how bright and even the illumination is, making the face so easily readable. Of course, the response I generally get is 'who uses a watch to check the time in the dark, that's what phones are for', but I don't care, I love it. If only all childhood dreams were so easily achievable eh! :)

Bom Relógio - Não se assuste com a Embalagem!!!
The media could not be loaded.

The illumination button, when pressed does not turn off on its own, you have to pull on the dial to make the light turn off. As it takes next to no pressure to turn the light on I find that the watch illuminates throughout the day and as it doesn't turn off on its own the battery will drain. The spring bars are not good quality, when changing the watch strap for the first time on this watch (which I do regularly with other watches) the spring bar bent with little pressure when applying a new watch strap. Update: The watch no longer keeps time as it seems to miss every other second

Great, strong and fireproof, but a little noisy
I have used this watch now for a few months and purchased as I needed a 'daily' that was robust. I work as a firefighter so the watch can find itself subject to wet, dry, cold, hot, day, and night. I had just broken two other watches so didn't hold much hope for toughness. But on that front, this watch has not let me down. It has been very robust and clearly the Timex quality shows through. In terms of features, this watch also surprises. Yes, I knew the face would illuminate but I was surprised by just how much it did and with such a light pressure on the crown. This came in handy on a number of jobs where it was pitch black but I needed to note time. The dials also have luminescence so even without the backlight it was easy to see in bed. The accuracy and motion are the only two very minor criticisms. The accuracy seems to have dropped a second or two Vs my trusty but old automatic motion watches, off considering it is a Quartz. The motion used is also very loud. I could hear the ticking from my wrist in a waiting room, and if wearing to bed I can hear it through the pillow. Versus a Fossil Quartz I had, this motion is notably louder by at least double. Very liveable but as a result I prefer to wear my Vostok or Seiko 5 automatics despite their greater fragility. Overall, highly recommend as this is very durable, used by me very frequently, and has survived fire related work abuse very well versus other brands double the money inc a Seiko 5 Sport (lost a crystal), Fossil Quartz (chipped crystal and stopped ticking, presumed flat), and a Rotary automatic (seized the balance spring). But if you get irritated by sounds, you may be best to avoid.

Nice watch for the price
For the price, it's a nice watch and the 40mm diameter gives it enough prominence on the wrist without being too big - it is a field watch after all. But, without doubt, it's the indiglo light function that sets it apart.
