It is not too large. Can tell time without my phone. No longer a slave to it. lol
It is a shame I had to buy a male watch to get a good Timex expedition watch for myself. But there were no good options. I was looking for a leather band. Check Ind-aglow Check and it to be metal and water resistant check. It has the date bonus. I wished for a few other items but they were to big in size. This is to replace and expedition I had while in the military. It is just a little large not much on my wrist but looks good. Keeps time perfectly. no carrying my phone just to tell the time yea. . Would I buy this again yes. I would even give as a gift. The soft leather has a suede sheen meaning not shiny. The watch is not totally reflective but a little. . Wish it was not.

Timex Men's expedition metal field watch
I love everything about the watch.I like the color of the Dial plus I like the easy to read hands and the military time on the watch.Nice looking brown leather band with an E on it. Built in light, water resistant. I may buy more to give as gifts. I'm very satisified with the watch in every way. A nice looking watch at a good price.

Beautiful functional watch
Nice functional watch in a clean design. The shipper has some issues though. They tossed the box into a shipping bag (as opposed to a shipping box), and it was flattened when it got here. The plastic support the watch had been on was broken in two. Luckily the watch didn’t sustain any damage. Takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’!

Could not be more pleased.
Between the Timex Expedition analog/digital version I already wear, I shall turn into a two-watch-wearing dude I always thought were weird. U Both are great watches and both with Indiglo!

Most Expedition watches as are small and the button does not stick out a lot and it can light dial.
Number are very readable as about twice the size of most Expeditions, but the watch is a bit larger also. It does not light up the face when push the button, handy at night. The leather band is more comfortable than most bands. There is no day date window, but more are too hard to read anyway The blue and white face is attractive addition to mostly black or brown faced watches

Simple and lovely, but "wears bigger" than its 40mm spec measurement
This is a nice watch, with a solid feel, nice, clear detailing, and a lovely matte finish to its case. Definitely a good value for dollar, especially compared to a lot of other brands / sources. The orange second hand is distinctive, and the hands and blue coloring are classy, as is the understated branding: A nice difference from many watches, especially chea... "economical" brands that put their brand in giant, distracting, tacky logos, etc. And, in an unexpectedly hard to find twist, there is no date window, which is _terrific_, if you only rarely wear a watch, as I do... I have been hunting specifically for a simple, date-less, fairly rugged watch to wear from time to time but that I wouldn't have to fiddle with to reset a date, every time I put it on, the once-per-month or so that I do. BUT. I apparently am alone in *not* wanting a giant clock on my wrist. Which is ironic, as i am a freakishly tall guy... I just have thin arms/wrists, and big watches look silly on me (to me, your style may vary) and I find them annoying and clunky to wear. The specs on this one are 40mm, and that's on the smaller side of watches these days, unfortunately, unless you jump down to a "ladies" watch at 32mm or below. I took a chance on this one, thinking it might be small enough. It is larger than the 40mm vintage Citizen diver I have, by 1-2 mm. And, because of the design (all face, no bezel, and thick/rugged case) it "wears" even bigger than that. It really is hard to call this one 40mm, so if you're on the fence, don't think "maybe it'll be small enough." Not to take away from the watch, but it's annoying. It would help a LOT if photos included a comparison grid, a quarter, anything, honestly. Unfortunately for me, it's bigger than I hoped. My only point in reviewing it here is that maybe, maybe, you're like me and have been hunting, frustrated, for a while, and are settling into "maybe 40mm will work" or "40mm is not THAT big"... just be advised that this one is slightly bigger than that, and wears bigger still. I changed it to a thin NATO strap, which did help. Not that the original strap is bad by any means! -- it's just thicker and adds bulk. It helped to change down to a light/tan thin-pleather strap, but it still looks big. It's a nice watch. If you have big forearms, or like a large watch, ya' can't go wrong. I may get used to it, but for now, it bugs me every time I put it on. It'll probably wind up relegated to the Box Of Too Big Watches, but we'll see. I'm knocking off a star because the measurements are likely a bit off, and if you look closely, it's quite obvious that the orange second hand is slightly misaligned with the marks on the dial, which is annoying. And the numerals on the face are clumsy/inelegant in their print, which really is only obvious because they're SO big. Not bad, certainly, for a $notmuch watch, but five stars have to be _earned_. : ) If anyone knows of a similarly priced (or thereabouts, keeping it under a Benjamin) dive-style watch without a date window, with 100m or more water resistance, with a blue face, at 36ish mm, leave a comment! My hunt continues.... I pro'ly have to learn how to mod/build something, don't I? Good luck with your hunt. This is a nice watch, especially for the price, though the water resistance might be a little lower than the rugged-look might promise. Definitely a bargain, if the size isn't an issue for you!

Great watch at this price point!
The media could not be loaded. This is a great watch for the price point. The gunmetal gray is nice in contrast with the cream/ivory dial color. I took a star off due to the strap as it leaves something to be imagined. I will eventually swap it out for nylon or rubber. If you have a small wrist, like it do, this watch is perfect for you. The indiglo works well nothing to complain about there.

Lasted about 1.5yrs before things started going wrong
So I love timex expedition watches as they normally last a while, with only the strap wearing away and needing replacing. Unfortunately I can't say the same of my latest one- purchased in 2019. I had to try to get it fixed mid 2022 as it was loosing time - though still ticking. Someone managed to fix it and it seemed to all be OK, but then during the festive period, the watch started to lose time again and now while it's ticking away in the second hand- seemingly on time; both the hour and minute hands are static. A real shame, as I did expect more reliability from Timex. Considering if I go for a tinex again or if its time toswitch to another brand.

Good watch, but beware!
I love the Timex Expedition watches. I have found them to keep excellent time and to be of very sturdy construction. The illuminating dial is also a fantasic feature and much more reliable than fluorescent markings painted onto the dial and hands. I have had a number of these watches over the last 10-15 years and they have survived a alot of abuse from working with stone etc. My main beef has been the cases which are sometimes plated with a metallic, often brown, finish . I bought such a watch previously as it was described as being made of stainless-steel, however over 2 to 3years and the rigors of active use and sweat, I was alarmed to see the back of the watch-case became corroded and pitted, eventually showing the base metal beneath. It was at this point it became apparent that the case was in fact plated-brass not steel. When they get to this stage they're pretty gross and unhygenic, so I was looking for a replacement. When I purchased this watch it was based on the photo showing a silver-coloured metal case and the description that assured me the case was constructed of stainless steel. When it arrived, you've guessed it, it was a brown-plated finish over what I'm fairly sure was a brass base. I packed it up and shipped it back immediately. Why does Timex continue to undermine a great product with an inferior metal case? More to the point why is the Amazon description, as found in my previous purchase, so inaccurate? In summary: a solid, reliable watch, but it is brown not silver, and made of brass, not stainless-steel. Please change this description to reflect these facts!

Money aside - this is a great watch!
Money aside, this is a really nice watch. I have slim wrists and was concerned it would be too big but this isn't the case at all, helped by the fact the watch is slim and not too heavy (Not too light either!). The face and numbers are clear to see in mixed light situations and in the dark the illumination works really well. The strap has a night soft feel to it and isn't glossy with a nice "E" logo on the clasp. These watches don't attempt to promote themselves as premium, but it doesn't look or feel cheap at all. The watch does have a more audible tick than my other analog watches but this doesn't bother me. The only thing I didn't think was great was setting the date, you have to adjust the time 24 hours to change each day but this should only be a one off chore with the efforts on 30/28 day months not taking as long. I'm really happy with this purchase and the watch will be well worn.

A good mid-range Timex watch
I have had a number of Timex expedition watches that come in various styles. This was a mid range watch and middle price bracket. The cheaper watches than this one do have an auidable tick. Although some reviewers have said this item has a tick, I have not noticed this (even when holding near my head). The overall product is good. The leather is soft but durable and the metal case is solid enough. I am happy with the white face which illuminates well with the light. Simple, reasonably priced and soon to see how the battery life lasts.

Great watch. One niggle. Recommended.
Great watch. Straight up - the one niggle is this - the winder is machined with raised pattern to assist winding. That's fine. But the edge of my winder was quite sharp/rough, and after one day it had caused quite a painful area, where it had been rubbing all day. I had to give the edge of the winder 1 minute with a small metal file - and it's fine now. That said, the watch is brilliant. Pros: + stylish - looks more expensive than it cost + not too huge/chunky - good size for medium man + strap is nice leather + backlight is very nice, plus "glow in dark" hands (prob won't last all night though) Cons - winding the date was a bit fiddly on my watch - took a bit of trial and error to pull out winder to 1st position (date), rather than 2nd position (time)
