Lovely

Nice Asian jar lamp! Great value--lovely jar.
This is a lovely Asian/Oriental lamp. The standout feature is the "jar," which (by itself) is about 12 1/2 or 13 inches tall, with a pleasing shape (not too extreme, or bulbous). Under the off-white crackle glaze (similar to "Celadon"), the birds and flowers appear hand painted (the birds are more rustic/fanciful looking than the flowers). The wooden base is 1 1/2 inches tall, stained to look like rosewood. I disassembled the interior lamp workings (to straighten a bent bulb holder), and those parts are nice quality. These are some issues: Lamp harp. The supplied harp (maybe 8 inches tall) is functional, but too short for this lamp (our opinion). I replaced that harp with a 10 inch one that we had on hand, and the proportions are much improved. [with the shorter harp, the lamp shade obscured the top part of the jar body]. This might not be an issue for everyone. Interior lamp works. I disassembled the internal lamp works, to straighten the bulb holder (I bought the warehouse version, at discount--this was the only damage). The all-thread tube/pipe is fairly short, and only engages a few threads of the bottom locknut. This makes it unnecessarily cumbersome to reassemble the lamp. Rotating the jar body. The wife wants one lamp to "show"/front side the yellow birds, and the other lamp to show the large blue bird. These lamps are hand fired--or the bases are hand made--and are not exactly identical. While I did get the lamps reassembled, the wood base is slightly crooked on one lamp, as the interior all-thread pipe is short (and the wood bases & lamp bodies have some variation). To correct this, I'll have to either shave/sand down that base, or add some all-thread to the existing pipe. Misc. The bulb holder is 3-way--you'll want to order some 3-way LED (or old-school incandescent) light bulbs. With a 10 inch harp, the lamp measures about 26 1/2 to 27 inches tall (from bottom of base to top of finial). If you keep the supplied harp, it'll be about 25 inches tall--less that the advertised 29 inches. The supplied lamp shade looks nice with a taller harp (we tried a larger/taller lamp shade too, but the supplied shade was nicer overall). Summary. Nice lamp--great value. The lamp jar body adds both art and color to your living room end tables. You might want a taller shade harp, and--if you want to rotate the jar body--you might find it a chore to reinstall that bottom locknut.

This lamp is so beautiful and I love the colors, but the lamp is 26 inches tall not 29.
I have this beautiful lamp on our buffet table near our dining table. It gives more lights and it goes with my oriental decorations. I would have given 5 stars, but the height of the lamp is wrong. I’m going two order two more, for our living room, and I’ll put my old oriental lamp in the bedroom. My husband even like it. He said this lamp is nice while he was opening the box.

Great Buy!
It turns out to be a great purchase. I love porcelain lamps. Many people have written great reviews about this lamp. However, I was not sure that I want to pay this much to buy one. I did some researches and comparisons on this lamp. This pattern is definitely unique. It profiles an exotic scene of colorful tropical flowers and birds. It brings back the nostalgic feelings of the colonial era in the far far east land where the British Singapore was still heavily influenced by the Chinese culture. I have seen one other seller who has a similar item on a Chinese web site. The price is just right. It actually costs more if you try to buy one on this site if you include the shipping. The quality is good considering the price you pay. A hidden secret that no one mentioned before is the wooden base is actually fragrant. I recommend it!

Height Correction
Beautiful Lamp! A Keeper! The actual height is 24.5" tall, 25.5" tall including the finial, not 29' Tall.

Best artwork is on the back where the cord is, but still a pretty lamp.
Several reviewers mentioned that what most people would consider the primary artwork is on the back where the cord comes out. Knowing this I ordered anyway. It is true, however the other side is also pretty so I don't regret buying it. I would give it 5 stars if the cord was on the other side of the base.
