Doors in old house swinging open? This is the cure.
If you have a heavy existing door with National hinges (1/4 inch radiused corners), this is the solution. I replaced the middle hinge with this closer, set it to low tension, and now the door stays where I leave it - - no swinging open, no slamming shut. Perfecto.

Works well
I bought two of these hinges for the twin doors leading to my pantry. For years I've been unhappy with the doors because I would always have to push them closed to ensure they engaged the magnets and stay closed. I installed one hinge in the middle of each door after reading the instructions carefully. Following the instructions, I disengaged the internal mechanism, installed the hinges, and then tightened the mechanism 4 or five clicks until I got the result I needed. Now the doors close firmly enough to engage the magnetic catches, but gently enough to not slam shut with a bang and the risk of their bouncing off the magnetic catches. Very satisfied with these hinges. Wish I'd found them years ago.

Perfect, very high quality hinge!
Exactly what I was looking for. This is a high-quality hinge, far nicer than I had expected. I'm not certain, but it looks like it's been milled, instead of stamp-cut like the cheap contractor-grade hinges. It has a nice heft to it, with very clean edges and milled countersunk holes. Compared to the (cheap) brass hinge I was replacing, this is just a tad thicker--shouldn't be enough to affect replacement of one existing hinge without replacing all of the ones you have, but if your door is hung with very tight clearance, this *might* prevent the door from closing easily. I wanted an interior hollow core door to close on its own, because my family members were constantly leaving the door open to my home office room, which is air conditioned and filtered for controlling dust. Though I bought two, you only need one of these for an interior hollow core door--there's plenty of tension that can be adjusted, and I think even two might be too much. I replaced the middle hinge of the door with this hinge, so that the extra thickness I mentioned above wouldn't cause the door to hang out of level. Tensioning/detensioning is easy, and directions were fine. I'll definitely buy these again!

another vote for good replacement to pick up return spring
Another example replacing plain hinges with something to pull the inside door out of the way when others forget. Out of two doors, four hinges, one pocket needed a little trimming to get new hinge to sit flush. I used a couple "clicks" from the as-delivered position to get a gentle pull on the light interiors doors, not enough to engage the latch. Adjustment included trying a couple more clicks (which gave full close but noticeable resistance on opening) and backing off (remember to depress to clear the internal catch). Overall, pleased with install.

Keeps the Varmints Out!
Works like a charm. It was pretty easy to install and adjust. I live in a household with many pets, one of whom wants to claim his territory by marking everything in his perceived little kingdom. Since I can't reasonably take him for a very, very, very long drive, this was the next best solution. I would occasionally forget to close my door, and ninja kitty took advantage of every possible opportunity to sneak in and stink the joint up. You've seen it before, they back up to something trying to look nonchalant, a rear leg or tail twitch and BAM!!, you've been hit. But I digress. This hinge worked great, in that I can no longer leave my door open. If you need a way to keep subversive little monsters out, treat yourself to a spring loaded door hinge or two. For the record, I have a fairly light interior door and only needed one. My use of floral smelling air fresheners has been dramatically reduced.

tension release tip
I agree with the other reviewer that it is very hard to release the tension. The instructions say to push down. I put it on my desk and pushed with all my weight and nothing happened except a very sore palm. I called support and they suggested I get someone to help me, in other words wait for my husband to get home. No way! I used a vise instead. Basically, if I understand the explanation from the support desk, a very powerful spring is holding all the tension against the teeth. You have to overcome the spring. As soon as I did, it loosened and jumped back to the previous tooth. I didn't have to turn counterclockwise. Tighten your vise very gently and carefully. The spring inside the hinge will jump. Do this at your own risk, of course. Otherwise, the door is closing. Hurray!

I liked this hinge in the beginning.
Unlike a competitor’s spring door hinge of the same design and function, this hinge is ready to be installed out of the box - no pins to insert, etc. Instructions are easy to follow. However, as it turns out, the spring tensioned weakened two days later and door wouldn’t close. Will try other brand and design of spring now.

Says 2 pieces but it's just one hinge
If you quickly look at the listing it says 2 pieces. But when you get it there is only 1 in a pack.

What does exceeding 6 clicks do?
Purchased so when the cat barges into my bedroom, the door swings back to almost a close. Had no troubles installing but when setting the torque, I went one click too far for my cat to be able to open the bedroom door herself from inside. @ 4 clicks of torque, finding it absolutely impossible to decrease torque as per the instructions included (push down then counter clockwise).. not sure if exceeding 6 clicks will reset the torque?.. since I dont know that I guess I wont be removing it to attempt decreasing because if I can't exceed 6 and reset it, or if it's faulty and can't even decrease the proper way when removed, I'll probably never get it back on at that torque.

opt for these hinges, don't use other door closers
I've tried two other styles of door closers. One was the kind with a rod that you screw into the door, the other was a hinge pin. They're both trash. I used them for my bedroom door, and had to crank them as tight as they could go and it still didn't close the door. Not only that, but they're a real pain to install. The rod style broke within a day, and the hinge pin pops out constantly, forcing me to re-torque it with the included tool. Needless to say, they're both incredibly finicky and unreliable. These hinges, however, work like a charm. The instructions say not to crank it more than 6 turns. Three cranks and the door closes like a charm. I bought two for each door. The price is WELL worth the product. I'm thoroughly impressed!

works with minimum tension
Was able to install ,however while installing spring tension bathers and there must be a quick way to remove tension from spring, which will make it easy to install. Worked with minimum tension on my solid core 32 in ch door
