Very good hardware!

This reminds of the screen door hooks we had back in the 1950s. But this is the jumbo-size deluxe version. The kids moved into their new home that came with a stacked dryer and washer, behind a sliding (barn) door. It was prefect, except for the fact a 2 year old boy could slide the door open, exposing the very interesting dryer door. Which he would most likely figure out how to open in 5 minutes. I used a magnetic stud finder (CH Hanson 03040 Magnetic Stud Finder) from Amazon to install the Ring plate on the wall, using two 3" long stainless steel deck screws. Then I installed the Hook plate to the door with two good steel 1.5" wood screws (setting the hook so it sloped slightly downwards to the Ring plate). The fit and function is perfect, and it looks better than I expected. I will be buying another for use in my own home.

Has some weight to it too, looks really nice!

I am glad i stumble across this on Amazon. We have a restroom downstairs and the doors are wooden french doors. It has never had a lock on it. Now that my Daughter is two, she be following us everywhere. I had to keep her out of the restroom (lol), so came across this and figured I would give it a try. IT WORKS GREAT!! I was wary about what type of lock to put on the doors as it seemed a bit tricky to put a lock on two doors. I did try the slide lock I bought from Walmart but that was no use. My Daughter pushed opened the doors in no time and the lock would just right out. I put this on the doors last night, my nephew said 'Auntie, this is good, your baby tried to come in the rest room but she couldn't get in'. On the inside i was like... 'Another one bites the dust!'. Overall, this is great!!

Perfect for barn doors

I bought several sets of these to outfit our custom-installed barn doors and they are exactly what I wanted. They feel really heavy in the hand, they have a cool, heavy, iron sound, they look good, and they were easy to install. The only thing I would note for other buys is that the screws that come with the hardware might be on the short side for certain applications. For example, if you are screwing straight into solid wood (like an old door frame), the included screws are probably just right. But, if you are screwing them *through* drywall into a stud, you might want to use some longer screws to make sure the hardware is secure. Other than that, this is a great product, nice and heavy, a good size, and easy to install. Perfect for barn doors or anywhere a casual lock is needed.

Best bang for your buck

Great purchase!

We recently purchased a home that had one of those sliding “barn doors” on our one and only bathroom- our curious and oh-so-intelligent canine Mensa candidates quickly mastered opening the door (using their patented one-paw-flick), much to our company’s chagrin. We bought this lock and it solved our privacy issues immediately, while maintaining the look and the charm of the door, itself.

Easy to install, solid as a rock

We used this to secure a sliding door that goes into our hot tub room, to keep our small children out. It looks great, was easy to install and is more than sturdy enough for the job. It has a real heft to it so would likely be up to far more strenuous tasks as well, though you may want sturdier screws for mounting it in that case.

Looks good

Had a small little latch on the bathroom door . This one is much bigger and will do a better job . Not to mention it looks good too ???? Except for the holes from previous which hubby needs to fix

Great value for cost

This is a simple, quietly elegant and very functional latch. We used it to secure a deck gate and then bought another for a decorative barn door on our firewood shed. The oiled finish is a perfect match for the barn door hardware. You could pick up any number of cheaper latch hooks, but if you're looking for something a little more decorative consider this.
