Great packaging tape but, although listed elsewhere, much criticized dispenser with handle.
So the tape is strong and adheres to everything. It would benefit from an easier starting tab. This item is for just the refill tape rolls. The issue is the awkward and potentially dangerous-to-use (by design) dispenser with handle. I can't say it better than the already numerous critical reviews for the dispenser. It's clear tape.
The gun makes it easy to use and it helps keeping the tape going. But it's frustrating at times if the tape gets away and goes back on the roll. But it's an absolute must if you're packing and taping up a lot of boxes! Trust me you can't do it without this! So I highly recommend it

Very sturdy, extremely frustrating! - UPDATE - found a workaround
UPDATE: I gave my review another star because I found a workaround that makes the tool work well. Because the tool, the way it's shipped, will only cut the tape when you push hard enough on the spring-loaded plastic tab to make the cutting blade extend enough to cut the tape, I modified it so the cutting blade is out all the time. See the photos. I simply held the plastic tab back and inserted a screw behind the blade to hold the blade in the extended position. One screw on each side and now it cuts the tape simply by rocking the tool back to make the tape hit the blade. I don't need a flat box surface to push the plastic tab against in order for the blade to extend. Yay! The other issue with tape sticking to the spring-loaded door under the rubber wheel can still be a problem, sometimes, but I found that increasing the tension on the tape wheel (by turning in the knob in the middle of the wheel) makes the tape much less likely to get snagged on the spring plate. Yay again! So I like the tool, and of course the tape is the best packing tape I've ever tried. And I've tried numerous other brands of packing tape over the years and a few years ago finally decided that this is the best stuff out there. It is strong, it holds and it just works! Happy customer! I still only give this 3 stars because I had to modify the tool to make it work well. Glad it works now and I'll keep both of the ones I ordered, and it was a really simple fix, but without the modification this design is unsatisfactory. Original Comments: I used a packing tape tool like this years ago when I worked in a shipping dept, and I expected this one to work like the one I used years ago. Nope! The tape loads easily and the build quality is very good, but this design is only good if you're taping large boxes, I think, because of the "clever" mechanism that will only cut the tape when you tilt the tool away from the box so the clear plastic piece at the end can push into the side of the box with enough force to rock against the blade and push the cutting blade out where it can cut the tape. The other bother in the design is the spring-loaded tab that keeps the tape against the large rubber wheel; if you let the tape get slack at all, the tape will stick to that tab and because this tape is so gloriously sticky (that's why we buy it, right?) it adheres to the tab like epoxy, and it requires two hands to get the tape free of the tab! I purchased two of these to use in packing our household items to move across the country. As we try to use this to tape round items or small boxes, or heaven forbid we might just want to pull off a few inches of tape to hold down a corner of wrapping paper (!!), we end up with a tangle of tape and a wasted minute. As frustrating as it has been trying to use the little cheap plastic tape holders that come with the tape sometimes, it is faster to use them, and a lot less wasted tape! I"m going to send back the package and tool we haven't opened yet and yearn for the tool I used in the shipping dept days. This doesn't do the job.

Thick, Excellent Adhesion, Easy to Start and Quiet! ????
I previously purchased the Scotch Sure Start (which I was really happy with) but this time the Heavy Duty was A LOT less and it seemed to be similar so I gave it a go... I normally send bubble mailers but poly mailers and boxes on occasion. This is like a step up from the Sure Start... Thicker, better adhesion, starts easily and doesn't fall back down in the cutter thing either ????. But it's also quiet... Not as quiet as the Sure Start but no where near as noisy as the rest. I'd highly recommend this if you're mailing heavy packages or need to ensure excellent adhesion... The last thing you want is your customers items to be falling out!

There are the cheap packing tapes that rip and you end up trying to find the impossible edge to start again and then there is Scotch by 3M which is the best bar none. Top tier tape.

Tape is five star, tape gun--is there something below one star?
I have over 35 years experience in the packaging and shipping industry, including positions where I oversaw the testing of various packaging and shipping supplies. This tape is close the the best I have ever seen. It is sturdy, adheres well, and is quiet to use. On the other hand, the tape gun is without a doubt the worst I have ever encountered. It is just awful. The tape has a tendency to stick to the guide plate, it doesn't release the tape easily and when it does release it, the tape comes off in strips yards/meters long. In appears that in their effort to keep nonprofessionals or people who don't know how to use a regular tape gun from being cut, they have also kept the tape from being easily cut. I will go back to cutting my tape with a pair of scissors and look for a sturdy, easy to use gun elsewhere.

Not as easy as some others
I quickly bought this as the price was to good to pass up and needed a box taper for my shipping boxes. When I got it, it was a solid construction. The tape presser (the clear plastic tongue) was very sturdy as well. Wasn’t till a few days later I used it. I had a tough time with cutting the tape effortlessly compared to others I’ve used. I realized then the tongue under pressure would raise the tape teeth. I found these caused damage to the box after I’d apply to much pressure to expose the teeth far enough for cutting the box tape. I’m making due with it and like the construction, but I find it a little cumbersome at times trying to cut the tape finding that happy spot it likes.

One of the worst tape dispensers and adhesives I've ever used
Like a few other reviewers have said, the mechanism which outputs the tape is absolutely useless. The safety on it makes it nearly impossible to cut the tape. And as if that wasn't enough, the tape itself barely has any adhesion to it. I mistakenly didn't start using this until the return period was over. But wow, what a waste of money.

Waste of money
The cutter doesn't cut, the blade doesn't come out far enough once you push guard to cut anything, if you try at an angle, tape gets stuck on the gun and the gun itself it poorly designed that when you do get it just right and cut the tape, the guides instead rip into your box - you can't win - it's total trash ... bought a cheap $10 gun, works like a dream - returned

The tape is great, the applicator, useless.
First, the tape. It's great. It's sturdy and sticks well to my boxes. No way it will give out on me while moving. The problem is the applicator. The instructions are so unclear I resorted to Youtube where I found a 3M tutorial video for this specific device. But the tutorial skips the tricky part. So I found another video for another applicator. Then once everything was in place, I realized the cutting part is useless. The tape is sturdy. Too sturdy for this product to be able to cut it. So I used scissors. Would not recommend.

Es un despachador PRO
Está hecho de materiales resistentes si tiene plástico pero de buena calidad firmes, tiene una parte que evita que la cinta se separe del rodillo y tiene un soporte de metal sobre la parte plástica que sirve para tensar la cinta al momento de cortar por lo que puedes cerrar firmemente cajas sin temor a romperlo como pasa con otras marcas.
