Careful about the circumference size... UPDATED
I bought this because I have a Golden Retriever that took issue with another dog in my apartment complex, despite the fact that she's the sweetest dog in the world with other people. But I guess you can never tell how dogs will react toward other dogs. I've only had this muzzle a couple days, but the straps seem sturdy and the wire basket piece is well crafted. This is my first dog muzzle, so I have nothing with which to compare it too, but I have no complaints about the design. Just a fair warning though, when they list the circumference of the muzzle, I don't think they take into account the extra bit of padding between the snout and the top of the wire-basket. My dog's muzzle measured about 10 inches, it was recommended I go an inch or two bigger so she'd have room to open her mouth and pant (if your dog can't pant, he/she becomes a risk of heat injury). This one was listed as being 11 inches so I figured I was good. This muzzle fits over her snout, but with that extra bit of padding, she can't open her mouth at all. Also, the length ended up being a bit longer than I really needed, but that was my own fault. I'm now sending this one back and ordering a size B3 wire-basket muzzle, also made by Dean & Tyler. It's a full 2.7 inches bigger in circumference (which I hope isn't TOO much), and a tad shorter in the length, and it also specifies as fitting Golden Retrievers. As I said, this one seemed well-made and worthwhile, they just ought to have had a note somewhere about considering the space the padding takes up. Measuring and sizing a muzzle properly is hard enough without the extra confusion. UPDATE: OK, so I felt the need to add one more star. I discovered Dean & Tyler have 2 lines of wire-basket muzzles, the regular (which this one is) and the DT Freedom. The DT Freedom ones are designed with extra room specifically to allow your dog to pant with it on. The fact that my dog COULDN'T pant in this one was why I only gave it 3 stars, but now I realize this particular type isn't meant for that. My point about being careful on size still stands for this muzzle, but I have no other complaints. FYI, for those worried about your dogs taking to a muzzle, my dog HATED this one and constantly tried pulling it off but she had no problem what-so-ever with the DT Freedom one I got her. I'm guessing she just didn't like not being able to open her mouth, so think about that when making your purchase.

We must have guessed the size just right. It fits well and stays on snugly despite his initial attempts to get it off. This dog had a very unfortunate experience with a vet some where and still becomes nearly unglued when he gets in an exam room. This has made him much more workable in that situation, and greatly increased our current vet's safety.

Good for the vet
Works good for vet visits. My dog is more comfortable wearing this than the plastic one the vet has. Does take some adjusting of the different straps to get the fit right, but once everything is adjusted he is unable to get out of it. My dog is a 50-55lb shepherd mix and it fits him well, he has no issues opening his mouth with it on.

Ripped after two uses.
Bought this cause my dog was eating rocks. It certainly stopped him from being able to do that, however after the second time I put it on him the head strap ripped. I have a 50 lbs hound/lab mix. He isn't a big dog so I was surprised he was able to rip it. After all the reviews of how tough it was I was very disappointed. The seller was awesome and gave me a full refund so I still gave it 3 stars.

Great Investment!
Bought the Dean and Tyler Wire Basket Muzzle, (Size No. 6 - Small Pitbull) for my female pit bull who is about 55lbs. She is very protective and will lunge at people when they come to my house. This effectively works to keep her from biting. The steel cage is very strong and when she has it one it gives me piece of mind. It is very fitted for her...and I wish i bought the other version of this that has more room around her mouth. But with this version she is still able to drink her water and eat snacks if you feed it to her from underside of the cage. She has worn it for a few hours at a time but I definitely would not recommend for extended periods of time just for the comfort and safety of your dog. She also has bad skin allergies where she will bite herself and lick herself incessantly. I also find when she is wearing her muzzle she does not lick or bite herself as well. Overall a must have for me and it has made our lives so much easier!

Leather nose strap broke.
The wire frame is very strong and sturdy, and the leather straps are pretty easy to adjust, but after a fairly short time using it one of the leather straps has already started to break. I'm pretty sure I can find more leather straps at a local leather craft store and buy some rivets so that I can replace that strap, but it's rather annoying to have to do that after such a short time and we only use this occasionally.

Makes vet trips better!
This has helped the vet trips become more efficient, faster, and better for my dog. He's ok with people but really dislikes going to the vet. Someone in my family has to hold him, and this muzzle is used for the safety of the doctors and vet techs. It works very well. He can't take it off, but it allows him to chew on treats, drink water, and breathe properly. It does cost over $40 dollars, but it was definitely worth paying all that money for a muzzle. It is very durable. He attempted to take it off once and almost did because my brother put it on him too loose. He tried to bite it, and he didn't even do anything to the muzzle since it is made of leather. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a timid dog at the vet's office or has any other problems(aggression, anxiety, etc).

works great
had to fiddle with the straps some to get it adjusted properly, but once we did, man, this works great. i've got a small (50 lb)female german shepherd mix who is very friendly with humans but very aggressive towards other dogs, and she'd turn and bite me and our other dog (a sweet-natured 85 lb male pit bull) when she was unable to get her 'target' dog. we've tried positive 'treat' training, negative 'squirt bottle' training, gentle leaders, obedience training (she got really great at 'sit', 'lie down' 'stay', etc) but nothing stopped her when she saw another dog. we were tired of coming home from walks with bloody holes in us. this did the trick. she gets to sniff things and can pant freely on hot days, but no more biting. also, the shipping was VERY FAST, thanks so much.
