Held up for 12 years
So I am actually writing this review 12 years after purchasing them. I was in the process of removing them from our outlets being that our kids are now grown. They all held up great. The only complaint we had through the years was that some plugs wouldn't fit snuggly and would come loose when knocked. Otherwise I'd say that 12 years of use sure shows that they are high quality!

Great product.
I bought this to cover up some old discolored wall outlets. This worked perfectly. Not having to worry about a toddler shoving a fork into the outlet is just a bonus. ====== I always read the negative reviews. Here are the complaints and my thoughts. 1. "Two prong plugs fall out." My plugs are just fine. I had to loosen the mounting screws on a couple of outlets. Those are the two screws that hold the outlet in the wall. That allowed the outlet to move forward nice and close to the cover. This was a problem from the outlet install. The outlet was recessed too far into the wall. 2. "Not enough gaskets." The foam gaskets are only for outside walls. If the old cover didn't have a gasket you can use one of the supplied gaskets or cut a little insulation. Honestly it is just a little bit of insulation for outside walls so the inside wall outlets don't need it. Actually none "need" the gasket. But why waste heating and cooling when you can seal it up? 3. "They stop closing." The ones I got seem pretty good. I normally don't plug and unplug my appliances thousand of times. I have a power strip by my bed for my phone.

I am so happy with these self closing outlet covers. I have two very curious toddlers that are always into everything. I had the outlet plugs but my sons were always able to pop those out. I ordered 50 of these self closing outlet covers to be able to do the entire house and I am so happy with them. They look good, work easily for me when I need to access an outlet and my toddlers have not figured out how they work which is great. I have such peace of mind now that I have these covers versus the useless plugs. Every parent should just invest in these. This deal was the best deal I found on them too. They look great and actually help in winter time by preventing cold air from flowing through open outlets and most importantly they will definitely keep little ones from driving things like tweezers or forks into ur outlets and getting hurt. Great product.

When we first started baby-proofing, I had the little plugs that you stick in the outlets. They drove me CRAZY. They were so difficult to pop off (great for baby-proofing), not so great when I wanted to use an outlet) and I found that I would forget to replace them when I did finally remove them (not great for baby-proofing). This is the single baby-proofing item that I would recommend HANDS DOWN out of all the items we've tried/purchased. (I think these are even more amazing than our magnet cabinet locks.) They are super easy to install... I started with the outlets I use most frequently until I got around the entire house. Because these cover the actual outlet holes, things that are plugged in stick out a little farther and may not have as good of a connection. (Sometimes the vacuum will disconnect a bit from all the cord wiggling/stretching during use, but that's usually when I am due to switch outlets anyway because I've run out of cord.) That said, I would gladly deal with that issue than the former (you know... those annoying plugs). If you want to keep baby safe WHILE keeping your sanity, I would recommend that you stop reading all of these reviews (it's worth it, I promise!) and click the "Add to Cart" button.

Help For Drafty Outlets and Solved a Cosmetic Issue
I came across these while looking for a cheap, at least partial solution (short of reinsulating my entire condo) for drafty outlets on my outside walls during the bitter winter last year. I found foam inserts to put behind the outlet covers, but they didn't really fit behind regular outlet covers and didn't solve the problem of drafts coming from the actual holes the plugs go into. But then I found THESE. The foam inserts fit fine. And the holes are covered when not in use. So the amount of air blowing in through my outlets was significantly less. I can't say whether this made my gas bill any lower, but it definitely made me psychologically feel warmer when it was -25F and extremely windy! PLUS, this solved another issue. A number of my outlets are off-white while all of the rest of my outlets and switches and my cupboards and trim are all white. These are white and cover up those off-white outlets. So now everything matches! I think they look nice. They do stick out a little compared to regular outlets, so there is potential for plugs to pull out more easily, but I've never had an issue with things not staying plugged in.

It serves the purpose; the outlet functions well. There are two main issues. First, these outlets are slightly smaller than typical outlets with regards to the length and height. In one room in my house where the walls are the original color, the contractor taped and painted around the "standard" outlets. Upon installing these "baby safe" outlet covers, I now have an exposed unpainted border. This isn't a major issue as it is easily remedied. The reason for taking the time to review this item is the second issue. Once again, not so much of an issue with the manufacturer but more so with the installation of the existing plugs. About half of these outlets don't sit flush on my wall. This is due to the fact that most outlets are perfectly square and level. Standard outlets usually have a fair amount of wiggle and this allows a standards outlet cover to "mate" and sit flush. The way that these outlets "mate" to the existing plugs doesn't always allow for nice, flush fit. I believe this fit issue would occur at almost all homes. Both of these issues could be remedied, but the second one would take a significant amount of time and effort. I probably wouldn't pay what these cost if I knew the fit was going to be so poor, or at a minimum I would only install these outlets at high use locations...I replaced every outlet in my entire house with them.
