Good recessed holder for shallow depth openings

We needed to replace a 25-year-old recessed toilet paper holder and could not find one shallow enough to fit in the space! Unfortunately when the hole was cut out to install the original holder, there was a drain pipe coming in from the other side of the wall for the washing machine. So space was very shallow, around 1.5" deep. This Moen holder's specs listed the depth at 1.375" deep, so we crossed our fingers and ordered it. It fit! Yay! I took off one star because the "stainless steel" finish is really just chrome, and I would have liked a satin type finish. But it fit! And at a price 1/3 to a half of other units we had tried which did not fit! Here are the specs for this holder:

the holder is exactly as it looks and it's fine, except one thing: it does not come with the back plate to mount it. i've purchased a few of these and they all come with a back plate, this one does not. had to purchase a back plate alone. not happy about that. also, the holder was in a plastic bag that barely fit the holder. it was not in a retail box, or anything. looks like someone took the holder out and placed it in the shipping box, without any of the items that go with it. it would take too to return and order a new one, as i had to put it in and use. if you want a holder without the rear mounting plate, then this is fine. if you're looking for a complete unit, then look elsewhere.

Perfect toilet paper holder

Went in fast my husband said! We have a small bathroom so it was perfect putting it into a wall. Exactly as pictured.

Great for rental property

Durable enough for intended purposes. Drilled side holes for mounting into 3/4 plywood cabinet surface.

can't believe it

I ordered 2 of these and they were received without the mounting brackets that are required to install them! I wouldn't have minded to pay extra for the required brackets, but nowhere was it mentioned that they were not included with the units or needed to be ordered seperately. I have purchased similar items in the past & the brackets were always included in the package. Now where do I have to go to get mounting brackets? These are absolutely useless without the brackets!

Work fine. Not as countersunk into the wall as much as I though. Curves into the wall maybe 1.5". Others I've seen at big box store are much deeper so the roll of toilet paper half is inside the wall, with this maybe 1/4-1/3 so sticks out more than I thought it would. Did have a small scratch on it like it was a return or something but very unnoticeable. Does hold the larger double rolls kirkland brand toilet paper!
