My queen size bed/mattress with topper and bedding is 60" wide with a 28" drop on either side (measured from the top of the mattress, topper, and bedding to the floor), for a total of 116" necessary for the spread width. The bed is 80" long with a 28" drop at the foot, for a total of 108". Add another 10" to allow for the top to fold over the pillows and you have about 118" required for the spread length, which is the exact length of both the king and queen spreads. The queen spread is 102" wide by 118" long, which makes the width short by about 16" , or 8" on each side. So I first ordered the king size spread, which is 120" wide by 118" long. However, when I centered the star pattern on the bed, it fit perfectly on the left side of the bed but was about 4" too long on the right. No matter how hard I tried to center it, it was too long on one side or the other and it looked off. So I returned the king size spread and replaced it with a queen. The queen spread fits much better, but as stated above, it's short by about 8" on each side. Really not noticeable with my navy blue dust ruffle. Also note that the spread is long enough to fold under the bed pillows, so you don't really need the shams. I did purchase the shams, which are a bit too large for my standard size sham pillows, but workable. Also note that the king size spread is too large for the average washing machine and would most likely necessitate a trip to a laundromat or dry cleaners. Might have better luck for a home washer with the queen spread. Something else to consider. There is an imperfection in the star pattern on the queen spread that is a 6" long white streak about the width of a narrow piece of yarn. But, when I add my bedding, it's not noticeable, and I think that the bed does look pretty, so, I'll live with it. The price for the spread is reasonable enough, but in my opinion the shams are overpriced for what you get. However, delivery of the shams and both spreads was prompt, and the packaging was good. Free returns are a hassle if you don't have a UPS store nearby, so you might want to measure first and then decide. UPDATE: If you want a quilted bedcover, buy a light weight quilt, not a spread. This is a heavy spread. Even the queen size spread is way to big to fit in a 5.5 cu. ft. top load Washer and I'll have to take it to a laundromat that has the super sized machines to clean it. Ouch!
