Sadly Returned, BUT…..
Horizon VS Wave Rider? In my book, the Wave Rider wins! Unfortunately I decided to return this shoe, but the decision didn’t come easy. The package arrived later in the evening, and I was anxious to try it on. My initial reaction was that it felt like heaven as the cushion was quite noticeable. The Mizuno Wave Rider has been my Go-To for many years, and suddenly I was starting to wonder if I had just stumbled upon a new favorite. I began thinking that this shoe, cushion wise, was much like my Asics Nimbus, and naturally I then tried one on for comparison. What I found was the Nimbus seems to have the most cushion, but the Mizuno Horizon runs a close 2nd. The shoe has a substantial bottom and a great feel. At this point I set the shoes aside to give them a better look in the daylight. I then took to Amazon to see what other colors are available since I was so impressed. This shoe is typically more costly than the Wave Rider, but I happened to find them at a discounted price, making them the cheaper option. Thus, my reason for deviating and ordering a different model, but certainly with high expectations. The following morning I went to check this shoe out again. I loved the way it looked and felt, but unfortunately noticed a couple details which ultimately resulted in my return. Perhaps the biggest issue I found was the way the cushion curves around the ankle. Previously I broke my fibula, which makes my ankle very sensitive. This cushion was just a touch high and although it is soft, I was concerned that long term this would irritate me. I tried on two pairs of Wave Riders that I had handy (19 & 21) and neither of these shoes rubbed my ankle in this way. The second thing I noticed was that when stepping over things, or on a surface that was not flat, the cushion did not hold me in place and my foot seemed to slide a little. Tightening the laces did help, but not 100%. Due to my old injury, my foot will never be the same, and I didn’t want to welcome a flare up, or even worse, re-fracture. The ever popular Wave Rider has a 12mm drop versus the Horizon which has a 10mm drop. Both of these shoes offer cushion, but the Horizon has noticeably more. If you look downward at the Horizon, you can see how the bottom sole is slightly wider than the rest of the shoe and provides quite a base. In addition, the Horizon also weighs a little more than the Wave Rider. If I had my foot measured at a shoe store, I would measure a 7.5-8, but in Mizuno I always order a 9. This sizing was consistent for both the Wave Rider and the Horizon. I have been wearing the Wave Rider since model 17, and have always taken the size 9. For sizing reference, I also take a size 9 in the Brooks Adrenaline. As I mentioned, I have a pair of Asics Nimbus which are 9.5, but tend to rub the ankle. I have recently purchased a pair of Asics GT 2000 9 which are also a size 9.5. In summary, although there was much to like about the Mizuno Horizon, I decided that long term I would probably be happier with another pair of Mizuno Wave Riders. If you like cushion, then I would definitely recommend the Horizon. If I didn’t have a bum ankle that is so sensitive, then I would probably have kept this shoe and been very pleased. Mizuno makes great running shoes, and is by far my preferred brand. If you haven’t tried them, then you don’t know what you’re missing; take that step and don’t look back! ????

BEST shoes for stability, over pronation
These shoes are amazing stability shoes!!! I am 5'11, 159 lbs, and these are a size 11 womens (standard width or B). I measure at a 10 1/2, but I always need a size 11. I have a medium arch and instep height. Heal width narrow/medium, ball width narrow (per my foot scan :)). If you have a wide foot, the standard B width won't fit. I bought the gray pair first from a running shoe store, so after trying on 12 pairs of shoes I knew these were the winner by far! I'm a nurse who's on my feet all day on hard floors, so great shoes are a necessity. These shoes are perfect! I over pronate due to having (mild) knock knees, so I have internal rotation of my hip, knee and foot on both legs. This makes me very unsteady, and causes lower body pain without a really good stability shoe. These shoes completely stabilize my foot alignment, and provide motion control (keeps me from over pronating and/or rolling my ankles). I wear orthotic inserts and they fit perfectly with them! I didn't have to break these shoes in either. Just wore them out the box with my inserts. The insole that comes in it is too hard in my opinion, and doesn't offer me enough arch support if you have an arch. EASY fix with some inserts, and totally worth it to have such a great shoe! I don't like having to untie shoes so I replaced the shoelaces on my gray pair with elasticized lock laces. Yay for fast on and off! Plan to get a pair for these shoes too. They hug your ankle with a lovely cushioned heel collar. It comes up high enough to where your heel isn't slipping around/out and doesn't rub. The tongue is soft, long enough, and doesn't rub. I find a lot of sneakers have an uncomfortable heel and tongue. I posted one photo that shows the right shoelace tightened, and the left kinda loose. Hope it shows how it might accommodate others feet. It really contours to your foot once you tighten them. Toe box is not super roomy but my toes have enough room to spread them, and they don't rub; neither does my small bunion (I know I have lots of foot problems! Haha). Buying shoes online is SO hard. I spent hours searching and finally went to a specialty store to get fitted and scanned. If you like a flexible shoe with lots of bend, this is not the shoe for you. If you want a lot of support from heel to toe, then this shoe is for you. Hope this helps!

So comfortable
Little nervous my first time buying Mizuno shoes but I’m so glad I did. They are super comfortable and I did have to order half size up. I’m normally a 7 and order a 7.5 they fit perfectly!

Size up if you’ve worn earlier versions of this shoe
I’m usually a 7 to 7.5 in past Mizuno Wave Horizon models. Ordered a 7.5 and my toes were touching the very end. Had to go up to an 8 in these. They seem comfortable, just be prepared to size up.

LOVE these shoes (sincerely, a Mizuno fan)
Love. Love. Love these shoes. I have been a Mizuno fan for years now. They just fit and support my feet perfectly for running and walking but this is my favorite style and "edition" (version?) of their shoes yet. I got the black shoes and they go with everything so perfect for running or a long day of walking or errand running. Supportive but not cushiony (as in soft or pillowly, that's not my kind of running shoe).

This is why I have run in Mizunos for over 10 years. Love em.
Fabulous fit. Roomy toe box, but tapered in for a snug, yet roomy fit. I LOVE this color sequence. I don't like to wear a screaming yellow or purple or red shoe. I'm 62 and am a bit more subdued. Cool bright highlights are enough for me. The great support and heel cushion are wonderful protection for my older skeletal frame.
