Need a little better Quality Control
I had to bend a few parts of the garage door part of the crate so it would shut all the way down. Other than that its a great unit. I have three of the 30" size and I had to do similar type bends to make the door work smooth. Over all I would purchase again, I will keep the pliers handy!

Not so simple to unfold
I gave this 5 stars because of it's functionality and my new fur baby will grow with this crate instead of my buying a new one in the coming months or years. At the time of this review, I had to take a brake. I've been working on assembling this crate for a little over an hour now and I'm beyond frustrated. How something so simple be so difficult at the same time? First let me start off by saying if I wasn't getting my new puppy in the morning I would have sent this back and request a replacement. My crate is defective in so many areas but will still be safe for my new fur baby. Lets just say I had to use plyers in several areas when this is a no tool needed type of assembly. The hooks from the divider were intertwined on the back panel which is the reason why I needed the plyers. It was the only to pry the two pieces apart. The door was separated from the front panel and now that I finally got everything connected. I can't install the door which shouldn't be separated from there front panel. Extremely long story short, this crate was a problem the moment it was assembled and packaged. Thanks to a quite a few Youtube videos for getting me this far but I have to get the sliding door put back on without fully disassembling.

Best crate I've ever owned
I bought a Kong from Petsmart based on recommendations from Midwest. I hated it! It has the same entry door that lifts BUT it is about 15 lbs heavier (50 lbs) & it is very difficult to open, close & work the doors. I took it back to Petsmart 2 days later & ordered this crate from Amazon. I was a bit concerned initially that it would not arrive in time for July 4th. I was going to order it on June 30th & before I placed the order that night it said guaranteed delivery was on 7/3 so I went ahead & ordered it. Once the order was placed it showed that "expected delivery was about 7/3 but it did not say guaranteed. I called customer service & was assured it would arrive on July 3rd. I was not expecting it to get here in time but it showed up on time as promised & boy did it feel a like it was a lot lighter & it was...about 15 lbs lighter. I had read some of the reviews & was concerned that it wouldn't be sturdy enough for my flat coated/newfie mix but it is. I was also concerned about him being able to get out of it based on some of the reviews I read. Well, he is not wild or crazy & he doesn't try to escape but I cannot see how he could get out if the clasps on the sides are closed tightly. I have had it now for 2 days & he has been in & out of it several times & so far it is great. I purchased the single door crate because we have never found a need for 2 doors & based on where we would be putting it in the motorhome that was all we would need especially with a door that opens up & out of the way. If my opinion changes in the near future I will update my review. Pros: 1. lighter in weight than many of the wire crates but still very sturdy even for a 67 lb dog. 2. The entry door opens up & out of the way which is a big plus for small spaces & we live in a motorhome most of the time so space is limited. This is probably the best improvement that Midwest has ever made in their crates (besides a better lock) 3. This crate is easy to open & set up. 4. It easily folds & has a clip that holds it together when it's closed...Much easier than the Kong 5. It comes with plastic handles that easily attach so it can be carried like a suitcase when it is closed 6. It comes with a removable divider for puppy training 7. The wire is a medium gauge that is perfectly suitable for med-large dogs 8. The door opens very easily & folds back to sit on top of the crate when you want to leave it open Cons: So far I haven't found any I have had several Midwest Crates over the last 30 years & this is by far the best one. I stick with Midwest because they are the best quality (in my opinion). The wire gauge & overall weight s lighter than the Kong but the same as the Life Stage. The Icrate is the lightest & the lightest gauge wire. Before buying this I called Midwest & got all the specs on the weights (interesting that they didn't know the weight of the Kong. If they had or it had been listed on the box I never would have bought it), wire gauge & technical specs on vertical & horizontal wires. Based on what I had told them about my dog they recommended the Kong so I went to Petsmart bought it. Based on some of the reviews I read on Amazon I agreed with them but after owning both of the I think that the Ovation is sturdy, well built & I cannot really see how a dog could get out of it if the people using the crate made sure that the clasps were properly attached at the side walls. In my opinion this is a great crate & while it's not the sturdiest, unless you have a very large, heavy dog that is very rough, bounces off the sides & an escape artist the Ovation will do a great job. If you have a dog that is what I just described & you have no concern about having a 50 lb crate to lift & move around than I suggest you go into a Petsmart & buy the Kong. It is ONLY available from them & in their stores. Be prepared to spend $170 for it!

5 stars all the way, but no so much now, my dog is a part MR. Peabody and the Hulk.
it is strong and sturdy, easy to put together, kind of puts it self together by unfolding it. dont know what others are talking about with the up and down door with issues, I have just a single door and it slides with ease up and down and rests on top. there are no sharp edges as mentioned in other reviews. i have a 55lb dog, and its solid for her, no escaping. i think the door resting on top makes it more like a room with an open door instead of a cage for her. I put her bed in it and she just lays in it on her own. I only close the door if I go out and leave her in the home, My dog has separation anxiety if I leave, she destroys the house trying to get out and find me. But the cage in my room with her bed, I think she feels ok , safe in there alone.. love this cage. dont think its an easy travel, but dont plan on traveling with it. 5 stars all the way. well , my dog about 50lbs and three days later has gotten out each time by lifting the gate...and pushing her body thru, i thought i had it figured out by placing bungy cords thru the door so it could not be lifted, again she broke the welding of the bottom bar that the door clamps into and with the bungy cords in place everywhere but the bottom hinge of the door , she managed to push the bottom hinge up and breaking the bottom bar from its welding , giving her maybe 5 or 6 inches and slide out ...shes bent the metal bars of the gate or door along with other pieces. She has separation aniexity bad , giving her the strength to do what she does as the bars are strong. I think if you had a normal big dog without the obsessive need to get out the cage would be great. i still cannot believe she slid her hugh body out at the bottom of the door with maybe 5 inches after she broke the welding from the bottom bar.... is it the cage, it might be my dog. I also think they should have a latch not allowing the door to be raised up without latching it not to do so. Well I zip tied all the corners of the ends so they cant be pushed out or bent,,, and bought caribeaners that screw together to place on the door so it cant be pushed up or out for her to bend it and out she goes...so if this works and an easy fix you wont hear from me and the cage is a 5 again. the metal bars are strong , cant imagine how she bent them to squeeze out of the bottom of the door gate. im sure any cage would not of worked as this one was so strong and sturdy as opposed to others and why i bought it. will know tomorrow..lol. wish me luck against the hulk dog.

Primal door is defected! Poorly designed.
The media could not be loaded. Downside is that we are only able to use one door, because the PRIMAL door does not slide up. At least not easily. Have to use a lot of force to pull it up. Even then it won't come up in a single pull. I have to have 5 sessions of using max force to yank the door up. When I want to close the door again ( slide it down), then it takes me 15 min minimal or more to do so, because it doesn't fit properly to the frame and I have to yank it down using the force in many sessions again. By then my puppy is frustrated and anxious from all the shaking and noice. Was not able to contact the seller because there was no button or email to get in touch with. Also we can't return the crate because we desperately need it right now because we have to start going to work again and crate train him immediately because puppy has the socialisation window and needs to learn to love the crate. Also it is a huge hassle because the crate came over a month to Estonia. Asked for refund they declined because they want the defected crate shipped back first. Asked PARTIAL REFUND for the door not working but the declined so not helpful at all. Super sad because MidWest has had so much good reviews on their products. Otherwise a beautiful and modern crate. Sadly we can only use one door.

Amazon quotes wrong sizes and item delivered damaged.
Already have a smaller Midwest Life Stages crate, which has been excellent so had great hopes for this one. Unfortunately as soon as this was delivered today I noticed straight away the measurements quoted on the Amazon product page "About this item" (36.75L x 23.25W x 25H Inches) were different from those printed on the box (36.75L x 25.125W x 27H Inches), so it's too wide to fit in the space the dog lives. NB: on going back to check, the sizes quoted on the seventh product image *are* correct. Once unfolded also discovered the crate's plastic base is cracked in two places, so even if it was the right size would still need to send it back. Item return it is. Disappointing.

Solid but bashed
Great crate but arrived in a bashed box and was very bent out of shape.

Great product but it arrived with broken handle
This is a great product. this is the second crate of this brand we have bought and it is perfect for our needs. The sliding front door is such a space saver! Unfortunately this time the product arrived with one of the handles broken and we do not know how to substitute it.
