Potential choking hazard with the 1’s
They’re okay I think I prefer the plastic ones too the wooden ones. Be careful where you place them- my 10 month old managed to fit the “three” sideways in his mouth. They are too large to swallow whole, and they are too durable for him to break- but I did move all the “ones/1” up really high because I was afraid he may be able to swallow those at the right angle. I would wait until your kid is past the putting everything in his mouth stage to let them play with them. they’re more for playing and don’t hold things up really well- pictures, cards, groceries lists, small paper they all fall when I try to use these magenta for that. They’re more for playing and learning than functional magnets. Bright colors, fun, and we will probably eventually use them to help him with counting but right now they’re just kind of hanging out really high up on the fridge.

3-yo plays with them daily, and has learned 3-digit numbers
Strongly recommended. These are made of 3-ply plywood (it appears to me) so they're solid and have enough thickness to grip easily. Most other kids' magnets we looked at were thin and would be frustrating to manipulate. The characters are brightly colored and the surface appears durable. We gave a set to a grandson for his 3rd birthday, and he played with them for long periods every day during a recent week-long visit. He already knew counting up to about 100 though nothing about how the the numbers looked, but after about 3 weeks of playing with these he could construct and identify any 2-digit number ("This is forty-seven, but if I move the '7' it's seventy-four!") and was starting in on 3. Note to other grandparents: it's difficult to explain a leading zero :o) We paired this gift with a set of dinosaur magnets by the same maker. Links aren't allowed in review, but you could search Amazon for "Melissa & Doug Magnetic Wooden Dinosaurs in a Wooden Storage Box (20 pcs)" if so inclined. Those are just as good.

Okay
They are nice magnets and you get many of them. The magnets are super weak though. They stick to the magnet board but are too weak to stick to eachother. Which is probably a good thing for a toddler.

Parents requested this specific brand....
Birthday time was approaching. Parents specifically requested Doug and Melissa brand magnetic alphabet product for their 1 year old because he was so facinated with the product on his cousin's refrigerator during a recent visit. I was told they wanted because the magnet was the same size as the alphabet and not easily swallowed by a child. When they arrived, I thought they looked small enough a very young child could put in their mouth....could be why they are recommended age 3 +. I game them anyway. Child is closely supervised when this toy is in reach. He loves the colors.

Grandson loves them
Purchased for my 10 month old grandson and he loves them. He was just learning to play with magnets on the refrigerator, so I figured it was time for a set of ABC magnets. The box is nice for storage. The magnets are thin so little hands can manipulate them easily. They adhere nicely.

will recommend this
it comes with 37 pieces in all, including five mathematical signs. 12 units of number 1. three of 0 and 2 each. rest two pieces each of no 3 to 9. Intended to ensure that kids can form nos zero to 20 from the given set. Magnets are cut out of the shapes of the numbers, thus, they don't pose chocking hazard unlike the small magnet pills stuck in most magnetic numbers. This was the prime reason I bought this item. The numbers are colourful but its sticker based rather than being painted. Wooden box with a sliding lid will ensure that the pieces can be secured after play. The corner of wooden box was chipping. Magnets are not too strong but good enough to hold the numbers on vertical surface. All in all,I will recommend this set.

A MUST FOR EVERY CHILD
This is a must for teaching the basic mathematics for 3-5 year olds. They love the colours and with the help of the numbers mathematics becomes a pleasant game that they enjoy and understand very quickly and when they start school they have the confidence to get ahead.

Awesome!
Awesome kits with full magnetic backs, making them sturdy and quality. Lid slides on to keep all in place when not in use.
