Motorcycle riding, backup wet weather gloves
Summary: I've been riding motorcycles for over 30 years, and there is nothing better than a good set of gloves. Recently bought some dedicated wet weather (Gore-Tex) gloves, but they are full cuff, and bulkier than my daily DRY gloves, so using them when it's not wet is not ideal. I have been searching, and searching for a backup set of gloves I can carry in my EDC pack that I can use if caught in a down pour. These M-PACT2 are what I will be evaluating. Observations: For motorcycle riding, the palm area is very important as that is what dampens the handlebar vibrations, and prevents you hands from going numb. These M-Pact do a decent job for short rides, but they don't quite have enough to be a permanent solution. Another feature I like about these is the Hi-Viz, as you can see in the picture, they contrast very brightly, even with the red bodywork. Good for lower visibility situations, especially when raining. Recommendations: Having the right gear, for any job, is important for productivity and safety. I also considered the ORIGINAL Coldwork version below, but ruled it out as it has Thinsulate (not really needed in the year round 72F temperature where we are). The 2nd considered was the newer version of the Coldwork, which has additional impact protection on the back (knuckles), which is important for motorcycle protection. I may still go back and try that set. Pros: Good fit & finish; true to size (I am a medium is just about every glove type). Cons: Mechanix has LOTS of gloves, almost too many. Conclusion: At $38, rating these 5-stars. Great product
Good product that works. Gloves fit well, are comfortable, and protect my hands.

Good fitting and comfortable, but mediocre durability and of questionable value.
Mechanix SP2 Mpact 2: These are certainly bright and eye catching, sharp looking gloves, the picture doesn't really convey the fluorescent yellow-green. Fit is nearly tailor-made. Yet these types of gloves, including this pair of Mechanix, have several downsides that are unfortunate, since they are generally fairly spendy. 1) Overall durability is at best mediocre. These Mechanix gloves, and other similar gloves from other manufacturers tend to split along the black material over the sides of the fingers, between the double and triple layers material. Once the fingers split the gloves are useless. 2) Puncture resistance is poor to mediocre. Handling rose bushes or thorns? Sharp burs on metal? Metal cables with some fraying? Forget it. 3) Heat resistance is nearly zero. Want to handle a semi hot pipe, fixture, or maybe a brick or cooking utensil over a campfire. No way. So I have used these particular gloves for general auto maintenance, light yard work, raking, mowing and material handling. I've used these gloves about 12-16 times and already as stated above the black material along the edges of two of the fingers has split open which makes the gloves useless. Keep in mind that the ultra cheap hide canvas gloves don't fit or look as 'cool', but their durability is 10X better, they provide significantly better protection from heat, as well as puncture. So unless you are getting these specifically for mechanic work where you need finger knuckle abrasion resistance, don't bother. You can also buy cheap form fitting synthetic gloves without knuckle armor for a couple buck apiece. Bottom line: Mostly show, not much go.

Best Mechanix gloves I've owned.
I work as a concrete batch plant operator and I am HARD on gloves. I tend to rely on Mechanix gloves due to fit, comfort, and protection but always wind up shredding most of them within a few weeks. I ran across these gloves while surfing Amazon for a new pair and figured what the heck. Upon arrival at my door, I was impressed. Heavy double stitching, extra palm and finger tip protection, padded upper protection is more than ample, and the knuckle guards are even stitched on instead of just being glued on like I've seen on some other Impact Mechanix gloves. I've been using these gloves for about a month now, 6 days a week, about 60-70 hours a week. Have washed them in the washer 3 times and have yet to have a single stitch pop. They still look practically brand new. I will be ordering another pair soon and would recommend these to anyone who's work makes it almost impossible to have a pair of gloves for more than a month.

The best Mechanix yet!!
I have been a diehard Mechanix Wear fan for a few years now. I wear them probably two to three times a week, usually pushing road cases with several hundred pounds of audio/video gear in it. These gloves are just phenomenal. They're the only work gloves I've ever worn that offer great protection and still allow me enough dexterity to tie my shoelaces with them on. This is by far my favorite design in the M-Pact line of gloves. I love the new knuckle guards, and the rubberized finger guards are the most flexible and least distracting yet. Also love the bright safety yellow, but more because it draws a lot of comments from people about them being bright and over the top. The only downside is they changed the velcro wrist strap. Instead of going over the whole wrist, the strap is only about two inches long now and connects at the side of the wrist instead of across it. Doesn't quite hold as well in my experience, but it's only been a minor inconvenience for me, and certainly wouldn't stop me from buying another pair.
