Lightweight, Crisp Sheets
These sheets have that crispness you can only find with a percale cotton weave. The design is serene and doesn't stand out, so it will be in harmony with most decor. It reminds me of a blue sky with puffy white clouds. After laundering them they felt soft (I recommend using fabric softener), and came out of the dryer surprisingly unwrinkled. The fitted sheet has deep corners that fit my pillow-top adjustable bed mattress perfectly. I haven't had any issue with the corners of the sheet popping off. The pillowcases are also perfectly sized and fit my standard bed pillows nicely. These sheets are lightweight and cool to the touch. If you get overheated while sleeping like I do, you will appreciate the airiness of the cotton. I only buy percale sheets because i do not like the silky finish of sateen, which in my experience breaks down quickly and pills. I have never had a percale sheet pill on me, even after years of frequent use and weekly washing. In fact, percale gets softer and more comfortable with every wash. It's important to use liquid fabric softener with this weave, especially for the first several washings. If you prefer a silky satiny feel to your sheets, you would probably be happier with a sateen weave. Percale sheets should be crisp, cool and durable, and this sheet set is all that along with a pretty design.

Disappointed
Was expecting better quality for the price- very thin, not well made

Surprisingly bad.
I like the colour and pattern very much. The sheet is sold as lightweight, and it kinda is compared to a heavier weave, like sateen, for example. But it's not as lightweight as other, quality percale 100%, 200 TC sheets that I have. When you hold it up to the light, it's surprising how well it blocks the light out. They fit well on the mattress, and lie smoothly throughout the night. They don't retain body heat. They remain crisp and unwrinkled over time. They look good if you don't look at... ...the stitching. The stitching makes me wonder where the quality control was when they put this one together. It's a 3mm stitch, which is nearly 1/8th of an inch. That's pretty big. The flat sheet mostly looks like an average quality Big Box store sheet, but one seam was stitched badly, folded crookedly and stitched down that way; the edge was not serged/overlocked. The fitted sheet has some real issues. The large stitching does not handle seams well. Where seams are holding in the elastic, they're almost coming apart. In addition, it looks like instead of using a spool of quality thread, a cheap one full of broken threads was used. My fitted sheet has threads sticking out of the stitching where one thread has ended and another has been started. These broken threads are everywhere. If I had bought these at a big box store, I would have returned them. I do my laundry by hand because things just get cleaner that way. In the case of this sheet set, I think it's the only way these sheets are going to survive. The fabric is strong but the stitching cannot hold up against repeatedly being machine washed. I seriously considered sending them back. In the end I decided the hassle wasn't worth it. I'll just get a needle and thread out and fix the weaker areas myself. For the money I spent on them, though, I shouldn't be having to. I will not be buying anything by Marimekko again.
