Trim labels, add a retaining wire, and YAY!

For the price, these replacement knobs are great. The writing had worn off of my old knobs, so the only fix was to get all new ones. The inserts don't make for a tight fit into the black knob, but the inserts stay on the posts very snugly, and the knobs are secure enough. Putting on the printed aluminum labels was tricky business. You have to be careful to not stress and bend them, because then it will keep that bent look even when you [try to] unbend them. The instructions are minimal, but a patient person should be able to figure out how to prep the surfaces, peel the adhesive off the aluminum labels and stick them on well enough. I pre-fitted the aluminum rings before peeling off the backing, and found they had slightly too small an opening. Holding them carefully, I was able to take an X-Acto knife with a #11 (pointy) blade, and with the very tip, gently whittled away the inner cutout, enlarging it just a little until they slipped on and would lie flat against the black plastic. Next I peeled the backing off and gently set the ring down onto the knob, massaging it a little at a time until it was down. I used the open end of an empty prescription bottle as my presser, because it was just big enough to fit over the handle and rest against the aluminum without scratching it or leaving an impression in any one spot. I gradually slid the bottle around and around on the label, pressing the whole thing down so all the adhesive was pressed. You have to be careful to not make ring or arc impressions in the aluminum while doing this, because if you aren't doing it just right, you will. Think "craft," "art" and "massage." My cooktop (controls shown) is a 1977 vintage, so I got over 40 years out of the first knobs. These will hopefully outlast ME! :D Update: After using these knobs for a month or two, I was having problems with the inserts sliding too far down the steel post. When I would press a and turn the dial, it would either come off in my hand or fail to push down on the steel shaft enough to let me turn the burner on. My solution for this was to take needle nose pliers and a paper clip and wrap the paper clip around the insert like a square letter C with the open part down. I started by sticking the end of the wire intobthe hole on the underside of the colored insert, then carefully nent and fitted the wire to wrap around the bottom edge, up that side in the recessed part, then dirwctly across the top and down the far side recess, ending with a small bit bent under that sode to keep the wire from lifting in use. To repeat, I fitted the wire snugly against the colored insert, bending right angles as needed, so the wire fit tightly onto the insert and laid across the top where the steel shaft was pushing up through. That kept the insert from sliding down the shaft, and since the wire fit in two of the four slots around the outside of the insert, it did not interfere with the black plastic knob when IT was installed. Now everything stays in place, and I am happy. If you try this fix, be patient, and don't worry if you mess up several paper clips getting it to work. If you aren't up to the task, find a friend or relative who would be good at figuring out how to bend the wire for you.

Fitment is not the best, but they work

You start by selecting the stem that most closely resembles your stove, and tossing the rest. Then you must apply the right sticker for your knob handedness, low to high or high to low. These stickers are just a bit off from the angle of the actual plastic, and therefore don't fit too great. You also get 4 or 5 stickers for the oven, but the scale was off for mine (200 was right, but 450 was 500 compared to the old one), so I couldn't use any of them. Ended up keeping the oven knob, so they are all mismatched. Probably would get higher quality or oem options next time.

Great product. Extremely versatile

Great product. Extremely versatile. I have a In Wall Double Thermador Oven that is somewhere between 10 and 15 years old. The oven is great but the knobs are crap and Thermador knows it. When the replacements were available I bought them from Thermador 2X and then guess what, they discontinued them. I have been looking for 4 years for replacement. Even Sears lists them showing discontinued. I have a Frigidare cook top and after all these years I got the bright I idea to try one of the knobs from my Frigidaire Cook top. It worked! The cook top is about the same age as the oven. Could not find the Frigidaire knobs either. So I took a chance for about 20 bucks to try these as they were made for cook tops and Frigidaire being a cook top, I ordered the Aqua Plumb. They WORKED! They are much, much better than the original. I three main ones replaced and now for the hunt for the small light and clock buttons as they won't last long. I have to also got a email from the company in Canada saying my order was on the way and if I have any problems with them that they were there to help. Also I should say the silver inserts on the knobs have numbers for heat indicators. I took them off but the knows looked plain and I replaced the silver inserts as they look much better with my stainless steel convection wall oven even though I don't need the numbers except OFF.

Colored inserts too thick to allow flush alignment in knob as my stove requires. 2 different faceplates for oven knob only.

NON_RETURNABLE !! NO SELLER FEEDBACK POSSIBLE !! Hoped this product would solve my problem. Disappointed by the fact that the faceplates are duplicated only for the oven knob: one progressing from low-to-high as you turn the knob left, 2nd faceplate high-to-low. Faceplates for the burners are single and progress from low to high as you turn the knob left. This set didn't offer the option of two faceplates per burner knob as it did for the oven. Also, five sets (of five each) of various colored knob inserts to accommodate various sizes of semi-circle stems and one non semi-circle stem. The one set of non semi-circle stems (the yellow inserts) would have worked for me.....except for its thickness and how much it could be pushed into the knob. All the inserts have the same thickness and can be pushed into the knob but not to the point of making the insert flush with the knob. The protrusion of the insert prevents me from pushing in the knob (required on my Gold Chef countertop stove) to enable me to turn the control left or right (starting with high or low as first setting, per cook's preference.) Therefore, I cannot use this set and am are returning it. As in my old set bought years ago with another vendor, the inserts are not easily cuttable to make them align flush with the knob. This set doesn't work for me.
