Fun but messy
I bought this kit to do with a group of 8 year old boys. If we follow the instructions perfectly, the finished product was pretty awesome. But with so many boys it was hard to wait the full wait time and there were messes everywhere. I mostly wish we had more than two molds so the boys could work on them at the same time. Otherwise fun kit.

Great STEM kit for kids
My 9 year old son and friends absolutely loved making the different shapes that come with the kit. We found out the hard way, or maybe I missed a direction, that if you do not keep the completed bouncy ball in a plastic bag that it will turn into a rock after 3 days. Once it turns into a rock, it will not bounce anymore. Update: Keeping it in a plastic sandwich bag made the ball grow a ton of mold within a week. The entire bouncy ball was covered in mold. Still a great product, still great to promote STEM, but consider this product to be only a one day of fun project.

Tips: Prevent spills, keep dry, bouncy, age-appropriate, inexpensive, good crystals, mostly quality.
Overview: This was a generally fun project for my 10 and 7.5 year old daughters to do independently. My only complaint is that the 2 small plastic moldings (2 parts which attach together within which you put the crystals + hot water) are crappy and don't reliably fit together to form perfectly spherical products. Nonetheless, my girls get my help to fit them together, and otherwise, the process was efficient and independent. Try creating workstations using empty pizza boxes to prevent the crystals from scattering away. You can then scoop up the leftovers to complete another ball. When opening the packets, only cut a small corner to enable greater control over how much comes out. I used an empty fig newton tray to hold the open packets, so they wouldn't spill while sideways. Finally, use a resealable plastic bag to contain the open bags for later use. Plus points: (1) Compose your own combination of colored balls from the bunches of colored crystals. You can layer the colors for swirling or mix them up to get unique blends. (2) Yes, they reliably bounce when done. Probably a little crooked if they're formed imperfectly, but that's part of the fun. (3) The glow-in-the-dark factor is established with 2 of the many colored packets of crystals (one white and one neon yellow). That means most of your products won't glow, but some definitely do! Minus: (1) As mentioned, the hollow hemispheres that serve as molding are cheaply designed/made, so they don't reliably fit together. Nonetheless, they work well enough to make rubber balls. (2) Because the crystals are water soluble when made, they get somewhat slimy/sticky if they otherwise encounter moisture after created. In other words, don't roll them in puddles, tubs, or swimming pools. (3) Again, be mindful that only a portion of your crystals actually glows. You'll have to be quite deliberate and exacting if you want the majority of your balls to glow. Personally, we didn't really care about making most of them glow.

Pleased but have some suggestions
The media could not be loaded. We found out that you can make bouncy balls from out little passports subscription but it only had enough for two balls. My daughter was so sad so I found this one intending just to get the granules because we already had a mold. The mold in this set are VERY small. You can see the size difference in the picture. The darker color one is from little passports. The colors in this Amazon kit are so bright and fun for kids (my daughter is 8). The glow in the dark is AMAZING! As you will see in the video. We followed the instructions from our other kit and the balls came out perfect. Heat up water to close to boiling. Dip the mold (parent participation) and twist a few times then drop it in the cup. Let it sit 5 min and then take it out. Let it sit 5 more minutes on a paper towel and then remove i from the mold! I will buy this kit again and again! The only negative things I have to say is that the molds are too small and the round one didn’t work AT ALL! One side was way too small and never fit together. Regardless, it was so fun.

Never again
I personally found this to be a pain to do. I do think it’s a great gift item for someone else maybe. It’s a fun little experiment type activity. The bouncy ball dries out eventually but it’s still neat. You can also reuse the balls for a science or art project. Good for bonding experience.

Fun to Make but then......
So we spent 4.5 hours making super balls. It was fun but time consuming because there are only two molds and each ball spends 20-25 minutes in a mold. Then they need to dry. They bounced really good for the first week, but by week two they had really hardened and lost most of their bounce. So the 4 rating is for the kit, the amount of balls you can make, the need for more molds, and that we had a great time making them. The balls after two weeks I’d rate a 1.5, as they became hard as a rock and had no bounce but still are nice to look at.

Great Fun
This was so fun and easy for my granddaughter to use. She loved making the glow balls and play with them. The only downfall I would say is the mold are very small and difficult to attach to each other, and the wait time for it to set is tough for kids. Just get them entertained with some hide & seek, Simon says, or just 20 min for it to set and your all set.
