Performs under pressure!

I've been securing my trailer to my hitch with this lock for 5 years. I only had trouble when I accidentally left it on my bumper. I drove 35 miles and the pin was still on the bumper. Faithful lock is what they should call it. Dust proof and mud proof. trust me. I have pushed it to the limit.

It works for a deterrent, but if someone really wants to steal your trailer it won’t stop them.

Master Lock = the best lock and value!

Purchased a competitors trailer lock and after using it only 3 times, the lock jammed. Never had any issues with Master Locks. It was my own fault, I was being cheap and bought a competitors lock. Just wish they would bring production of Master Lock back home to the USA.

Contrary to the sales pitch these locks are not rekeyable!!

I generally shy away from writing VERY NEGATIVE reviews, but I just wouldn't feel right not warning the public regarding this item. The product's main selling point for me was the ability to rekey all of the locks to the same key. I wanted to use them on my camper for security while still maintaining the convenience of a single key. With this in mind I purchased the Master Lock Python Rekeying Kit No. 8491.. The kit, like the ad on Amazon, promised that I would be able to rekey these locks. I consider myself to have adequate skills to accomplish the task as I used to run a bicycle repair shop when I was young, I've been renovating homes for over 30 years and I recently successfully built a Windows Server from the ground up. I list these accomplishments not to brag, but rather to assure the reader that I have some technical skill. The instructions in the rekeying kit seemed adequate, but I had problems from the start. Despite dialing all over my large metropolitan area, I couldn't find a locksmith with any experience with these products. So I called Master Lock Customer Service.. To say they were absolutely no help would be charitable. The technical manual they e-mailed for these locks and the kit was an exact reflection of the instructions in the kit. So I tried to call the company that sold me the rekeying kit. Apparently they just sell the stuff and have no clue how to operate it. Looking back to the Master Lock website there were no dealerships in the entire State of Florida. So I went to Youtube, nothing helpful. Then I asked my favorite search engine multiple questions and came up with an old manual on the Python Series. Believe it or not there were several comments that assisted in removing the cylinder plug from the lock housing. I was able to rekey the plug. Then despite hours of work the plug would not reseat in the housing. So if you're going to consider buying these locks with an eye toward rekeying them (as indicated in the Amazon ad) I would suggest that you bone up on your engineering degree. Master Lock was no help, there are no dealers (at least in Florida) and none of the locksmiths I polled had any experience with them.

Decent coupler lock for the price

I have had several of these locks and they work well IF YOU KEEP THEM LUBRICATED. I’ve had some on my trailers for well over 5 years, and if you’re using them in winter with salted roads, you absolutely must lube them with a good spray oil at least 3-4 times per year. I normally buy these locks in a set with the coupler insert lock, but have a bad habit of occasionally leaving the bar lock on the trailer frame or tool box (or truck bumper for that matter) and driving away. Hence why I need to purchase new ones occasionally!

my favorite lock

This is my favorite lock it might not the best on the market but its my favorite why because i had this one before and it over long time got bad because i didnt lube up inside and went bad... anyways i tried to buy the same lock at my local store and couldnt so i got something else that only lasted maybe 2 months and then looked at Amazon for this guy and its been great like the first one. I would recommend it 100%

An excellent, secure trailer tongue lever lock.

I found this trailer tongue lock to be exactly what I required. Easy to use and comes with a rubber lock cover to protect the locking mechanism from the elements. The delivery time was even sooner than promised. The lock arrived at my location in just two days. It would've cost me more in fuel than it did for the delivery charge. Thanks Amazon. It was a pleasure doing business.
