Handle is hard to fold, feet are too tall, but works as designed

It works just fine as a fry basket inside a dutch oven, but the feet are tall enough that you'll need to use almost 3 quarts of oil to fully submerge anything sitting in the basket. An ENTIRE QUART of oil is required just to get the oil level up past the feet. The handle is very stable, but when the time comes to put it into the dishwasher, it's quite difficult to fold up. Especially if, as is likely to be the case, it's greasy. Other than that, sure, it's great. Works as designed.

Just the Ticket

We ordered this to fit our Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven and it is exactly the right size and fit. We do not do much deep frying, but when the occasion arises, we wanted the ability so to do. This basket works well in that regard, is easy to store inside the the Dutch oven, and seems very sturdy and well made. We are pleased and for Shrove Tuesday we enjoyed a feast of fresh beignets thanks to the ability to deep fry.

Great basket.

This is a perfect fit for the 5-quart Dutch oven that comes in the Lodge 5-piece cast iron set. The handle folds into the basket for easy storage inside the empty Dutch oven (even with the lid on) or wherever you might want to store it. The basket also hangs nicely on the rim of the pot so fried items can drain into the pot. It feels well-made and durable.

cool fry basket, its a little tapp for my cast iron, but its supposed to be the right size.

Feet on the bottom make it useless for skillet use

I bought this to use in a regular deep skillet to try and make frying things easier. But the metal feet on the bottom raise it up so much that I have to use more than twice as much oil as I used to just for the food to reach the oil. Can't return it so it goes in the donation pile. Hopefully someone else can find a use for it.

Way Too Big

The quality of the deep fry basket seemed to be good but unfortunately I had to return it. It was way too big and does not fit in any of my pots (and I do have two very large dutch pots). This size may have been designed for industrial use. However, I did purchase the smaller size 8" but have not used it as yet, hope I will not be disappointed.

Good, or should I say ok.

This is the one to buy for the 10.5" skillet. But it is *not* made of stailness steel and nickle plated - It rusts! Not much of a problem if one is using it for frying in oil.

Fits my lodge cast iron dutch oven perfectly!

Pics can be deceiving and was wondering how it would fit my Lodge dutch oven. Fits perfectly and I could easily store this with my dutch oven when not in use- the foldable handle is very handy. Leaves enough space for a thermometer when doing some deep frying.

This product has just the right depth to do deep frying, a collapsing handle which allows for very easy storage, a flat fryer bottom for maximizing the amount of food that could be fried in one pass and can be hooked on the side of the fryer to allow the oil to be drained after frying. All of these advantages have firmed my belief that this wire mesh fryer basket is the best I have seen and used and I therefore can highly recommend it for purchase by anyone.
