Never have to change the bulb
This CNY LED, Canopy Light Fixture from Lithonia Lighting is the third canopy light I have from this company and I am delighted with the ease of installation, the commercial grade build and the energy efficient, bright lighting. This is a square fixture with a heavy-duty, sealed, metal base and a thick, clear, acrylic lens. It is rated for indoor/outdoor use. Installation was very straightforward and if you have ever installed a light fixture before, you will have no problems at all. There is even an integrated hanging loop so you don't have to try and hold the light fixture up when you are connecting the wires. I also like the integrated heat sink on the base to manage the heat generated by the LEDs. This is a very simple, commercial looking fixture. Because the metal base is painted white, it's quite unobtrusive when installed on a white surface, as I did, and that's what I wanted since I installed this on a small guest house behind my home. Because I have low, overhanging eaves, you really cannot see the fixture until you get right under it so the industrial look is not an issue. I LOVE that the fixture is completely sealed so insects and dirt cannot get inside the fixture. No climbing up on a ladder to clean the lens every few months. The light is a very bright, white color - 4000K. It's not as bright as my other two, Lithonia Lighting fixtures as this one uses only 40 watts and provides 4000 lumens of light but it is certainly bright enough to illuminate the area well. It uses an array of LED lights that cannot be changed or replaced but they are rated for 34 years when on 8 hours a day. Fantastic. If you are looking for an extremely well made, low maintenance light fixture that provides a lot of light and you understand that this fixture is quite industrial looking, you will be pleased with the quality of this fixture.

Super bright and easy to install
I was tired of the relatively dim and slow to go fluorescent fixture near my patio door, so I upgraded to this super bright LED fixture. I think it is intended for commercial installations that need full weather proof fixtures and for mounting a bit higher off the ground than I have. That said, I really, really like it. * Installation is a breeze. The instructions appear to have been written by N. American, English-speaking writers. Although the type is not very big, it is legible by my middle aged eyes and adequate to the minimal installation needs. The unit is designed to get installed quickly. The biggest example of this I show in my photo of the device hanging from the built-in install hook. "Real" electricians will sometimes add a temporary wire hanging loop to a fixture to ease their install. The idea is to hold the fixture while you attach the electrical connection wires. This can be a haphazard process if there are insufficient places to make the temporary connection, or if you are in a hurry. Instead, this light has a small wire loop built into the back and a reciprocal hook on the mounting plate. You put the plate in place and securely screw it on the J-box. Then, you attach the loop to the hook, wire the three wires, tilt the unit in place on its bracket and put in the retaining screw. Done! Took me just a few minutes including removing the old light. I am not a pro. Maybe an "advanced" DIY guy? * Bright! I have uploaded a photo of the light at noon in the California sun. Enough said - it's bright. So, no more dimly lit steps into our backyard. No need for extra light under our patio canopy. This is a quick and high performance solution.

40 Watt Replacement for 150 Watt HID
The energy savings of these are easy to recoup especially if you live in a cooling climate or environment where you run the air conditioning more often. They not only consume less than a 3rd of the energy but they put out drastically less heat. The 4000 lumens of 4000K color spectrum lighting can can light up a larger area if placed high enough up. This is not suitable for 8 or 9 foot ceilings. I would say that it needs to be mounted at least 10' off the floor. With the added height you get more spread. One of these @ 10' lights a good 15' x 15' area. If mounted higher in a high bay of say 14' or greater it will light up more area but be less bright. Luminosity drops off exponentially per distance from the light. Still even at 14' the 4000 lumens is good enough to work and see well under. This luminaire is built like a tank. It is solid. The mounting system is a very good design. I wish more fixtures mounted like this. Easy and quick. Installer friendly. Wet location rated. I installed this test unit in a local commercial building to serve as the outside entry light. They liked it so much that they have requested that 2 more be installed near to this one so that the entire covered entrance will be lit up. 5 stars.

2nd go round and these are friggin awesome!
I already own a slightly smaller version of this LED canopy light fixture and adore the thing so jumped at the chance to snag this one to review. These are not very large - smaller than you might expect - but built like a small tank. The LED bulbs are built in and do not need to be replaced. I've been running the older/smaller one for about a year without any incident. Lighting is fast and responsive - no delay like some cheap versions. Installation is easy - not much difference than any other fixture. Brightness is nice but not incredibly powerful. This is rated for outdoor use but I installed the first in a laundry room that never seemed to get enough light...it's now bright and beautiful. This is even larger so will probably go in the garage or maybe outdoors. The cool white is a bit stark and gives a somewhat cold clinical look which I don't mind...in fact, I like it better than the old yellow lighting. These run cool, require very minimal energy use and are built to last. HUGE fan!
