useful for parties

It's a bit pricy, but worth it. This large dish has already been used for several gatherings on the porch. Yellow, orange or red foods pop festively on the blue/brown. It seems darker than pictured.

Beautiful platter with depth of color in glazing.

This platter is heavy for its size, but that is because it is very sturdy. The glazing makes the blue colors blend together to show a depth of color, rather than just a solid block of the same color. The glazing is thick, so the platter should stand up to the normal use of a serving platter; that is, serving utensils, knives, etc. We got this to give as a gift, and it makes a great gift. It comes well protected in a very attractive retail box. It can be damaged in shipment, though. One warning: If you get this to give as a gift, open it immediately to check for damage. The first one we received was badly chipped. I think the damage was a result of the platter, in its retail box, being placed on the very bottom of a large box, with the rest of the box above it filled with plastic air-packs. The replacement was packaged the same way, but luckily arrived undamaged. I advise opening the retail box and checking for damage if yours comes in a large shipping box.

BROKEN

I have ordered this plate various times and It always has come in a LENOX BOX. This once came wrapped but not in the original LENOX box. it is broken in half. No very happy

Large Enough for 2 Proteins!

We don't entertain terribly often, but when we do, it's usually during big holidays - the ones that require turkeys and hams with all the sides. While I have plenty of plates and other pieces, I have very few larger platters. This is large enough to hold both sliced turkey and ham with room for festive garnish. As with most Lenox pieces, it's dishwasher and microwave safe, although you'd be hard-pressed to fit it in most microwaves. It does have a nice amount of relief on the surface by way of the design. However, it's not enough to hold on to dried food when you clean up after your feast.

Beautiful Plate , Terrible Packaging

The media could not be loaded. As mentioned in my video, I received a large box that said fragile all over it. As soon as I picked it I could hear what sounded like broken dishes. The box was filled with the air packing film on top and the smaller box with the serving plate was on the bottom, so there was no protection on the other side of the plate. It was in pieces. The serving dish itself is beautiful , deep blue color with a lovely design. I really like it. I have placed an order for a replacement ???????? Hopefully it arrives in one piece and I can update the rating once I actually get to use it. **update** I received the replacement. The arrived dish flawless.

Beautiful stoneware serving platter.

This is a very pretty, sort of dusty blue platter that has an antique, or even country feel to the style of it. It's quite different than the typical serving pieces you see from the Lenox company. Because the platter is a stoneware, it's heavier than the bone china most people are familiar with from Lenox. It's a beautiful piece that just as well for serving from as it would a decorative accent. Very nice!

Stunning!

This Lenox Flobal Tapestry Round Serving Platter is absolutely stunning. It is fifteen inches around, and, even more exciting, it is dishwasher safe. At least, that is the most exciting news TO MY FAMILY, who, to a person, hates everything that is hand-wash, with a passion. Yes, this platter can go in the dishwasher. The platter has beautiful embossed patterns on its blue surface. It's a heavy, lovely dish that will look gorgeous on any table. I love entertaining, and I use a variety of serving platters (not many of them match) on my table. This will look beautiful with breads and meats, or cheeses and chocolates. It's simply beautiful: elegant and classic. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous, blue edged with brown

This platter is simply gorgeous. The blue color is deep and rich, and the glaze sparkles and shines. It is heavy and substantial, and the surface is smooth as silk (no sharp areas in the glaze or clay). The pattern is amazing. It looks like old-school applique or tapestry. The platter itself is blue, but the floral shapes in the pattern are edge with brown. The platter has a lot of brown in it, and the browns don't really show up in the description photo. I love the brown against the dark blue, but if you want all blue then this isn't the item for you.
