Oh Thank Goodness for this product!
I have been fighting my pH like crazy for 9 months now. My pH comes out of the tap perfect, but the second I add any Alk, the pH is too high. I could not get it to balance for anything. Always way too high! I tested my Calcium as suggested (with Taylor’s kit, not strips!) and found that my Calcium was below the level recommended for this product (100 ppm I think). After I verified that it was low enough to use this, I fill my tub, warm it up, test pH to make sure it is the range I want, then this is the first chemical I add. I added nothing else before this. After this is well mixed I then add the sanitizer. That ends up being all I need for my Tub now to keep it balanced!!! Note: Alk will read HIGH, but after doing research on Leisure Times site, this is normal for this product. I have had the same water for 3 months and it is as stable and clean as it was 3 months ago.

Be cautious with this product!
My hot tub’s calcium level was under 150 ppm after a fresh refill (I measured using Leisure Time test strips), and this product still made my water extremely cloudy. Adding Leisure Time Bright and Clear and Defender didn’t help, and I ended up having to partially drain and refill my hot tub to clear up the water. Now the test strips indicate that the calcium level is too low, but I’m afraid to add any calcium increaser for fear of the water becoming cloudy again. The instructions don’t say whether calcium increaser is safe to use with this product, but I assume it isn’t.

Hot Tub
easy to use. Set your PH and Alkalinity to Mfg specs pour the PH balance in and your chemicals will adjust themselves without you having to do it after each use.

like myself, i have soft water (perfect) and i ...
To all who are reading these reviews. Notice all the low star reviews complain aboit cloidy water. This is because they dont READ. The i structions state, "if you have hard water, do not use product, it will cause cloudy water and you must add leisure time brigjt and clear especially cleansing the filters after. However, for all the five star reviewers, like myself, i have soft water (perfect) and i added this chemical after my ph test showed 7.2. so it was locked in at that balance. Ideal. 2 weeks later, using bubnles etc (because air jets raise ph) and my ph is still 7.2. So if you have soft water, USE THIS. It will keep ph perfect and no need to keep checking and adjusting by adding chemicals over and over, further toxifying your spa. This is a huge help. And works as advertised. Hell Yeah!!!

Works great at keeping the PH balanced
Last year Home Depot stopped carrying the PH Balancer and the PH in my hot tub was all over the scale. I found this product on Amazon and it's been great for 2 months so far. I bought 2 this time so I have it on hand when I refill the tub this season.

Suddenly causing the alkalinity to go sky high
I've owned and managed my hot tub spa for 20 years, and I've been using Leisure Time PH Balance Liquid for almost the entire time. It always worked well to lock in the PH and Alkalinity -- until recently. The last time I changed the water, as usual I balanced the PH and Alkalinity, added my chlorine sanitizer, then added one bottle of PH Balance Liquid. When I tested the water, the PH was too low and Alkalinity was sky high (which was not the case before adding the product). I waited a couple of days and tested again. Same result. No amount of chemicals could get the PH up or the Alkalinity down. I just lived with it that way for several months. Fast forward to this week. I changed the water again. Balanced the PH, added my chlorine sanitizer -- the water was perfect.. Then I took a cup of the water inside and added just a few drops of PH Balance Liquid. Again, the Alkalinity was sky high (but this time the PH was OK). I wrote to Leisure Time to ask if they had changed the product. They responded that they have not, but that I shouldn't worry about the Alkalinity being sky high, as long as the PH is good. I am very skeptical. I've used this product for many years without seeing this strange result. It had always locked the PH and Alkalinity into the optimal ranges and kept them there for months at a time. I'm not sure what the heck is going on with this product, but I have decided not to use it until I get more information I wonder if anyone else out there has been getting this weird result?
