Awesome set for younger kids

Very happy with these. My 3 year old niece thinks they're so cool. Some people that wrote reviews were not happy with the quality because most of the animals have a visible seam where they were put together. This is true, they do have this, however I hardly think the young children this set is geared for will hardly notice or care. I think it is the perfect beginner set for ages 3-5, that's just my opinion. I debated getting her the same amount of sea animals in other brands, like Schleich figures, because they are a better quality, more realistic, and a durable solid plastic. However, I would have spent double the price, and they are not as big as some of the figures in this set, which is nice for toddlers/younger children. Some reviewers also complained that each figure has a small hole, so playing with them in water could result in mold inside each toy. This is also true, and I almost didn't buy these for that reason, knowing my niece would want to play with these in the tub/pool. There's a simple solution. Just take a hot glue gun and a small amount will seal each hole, making them perfectly fine to be played with in the water. If you don't want to do that, well then just squeeze the water out after each use and let them air dry. If they're ruined after a year or 2 at least you didn't spend a ton of money on this set. Overall, I'm very pleased with the look and size of each figure. Nice selection of different sea life.

My 4 yr old loved them

Good sized, but can't be used in the bath because they are hollow and not completely sealed to prevent water from getting in. My son loves them.

Great quality, 4 year old loves them, and fun to freeze in Tupperware!

My 4 year old daughter got these from Santa - new plastic play animals were one of the few things she asked for, and she loves these. We lived in London for 3 months in the fall, and while there, her teacher Louisa froze small plastic animals in Tupperware, then emptied the ice blocks into the sensory tub for the kids to learn about water freezing and ice melting. The kids, especially my daughter, loved it! So, I do this with these animals for her, but instead, we empty the ice blocks into the tub at bath time, and as the ice melts, she pretends she is rescuing the inmates who are trapped in frozen ice. My daughter has a blast with these, and on top of it, you can tell the animals are great quality. At least one, I think it's the whale, is not solid plastic - it is empty inside and there's a small air hole, but I can still tell it's sturdy and great quality.

Nice Ocean animals set

The set is nice with big size impression animal but détails are not that good for the price - you can actually see it’s two different pieces assembled together. But overall pretty nice and kids love them.

Great sea creature set

I bought this set for my sea creature obsessed toddler for his second birthday. Since he's two and who knows how long this phase will last, I wanted to get him something related to his current love of all things that swim in the ocean, but I didn't want to get anything too elaborate or expensive, nor did I want tons of little animals that would immediately go missing. For less than $4 each, these animals seemed like the best option. I am so glad I purchased these! They are very well made and the coloring and detail is great, my expectations were definitely exceeded. The animals are large - the whale is the largest and I like that they scaled them somewhat. My son loves to play with them, especially when I let him bring them in the tub. I am really impressed with the quality and the size of these, I would not hesitate to buy another set of animals from this company.

Poor quality compared to other sets

I love all the Learning Resources toys we've bought so far, so this being such poor quality was really surprising and disappointing. 5 of the 6 toys had some sort of problem. The octopus had a spot above his eye where the paint was missing and if that had been the only issue, it would have been fine. The seam on the whale was so poorly met that there was a hole there on his belly. The seal has a pinhole by his tail, as does the dolphin but the dolphin also has a piece of plastic hanging off his mouth that shouldn't be there. It's like it didn't come out of the mold properly. And finally the turtle. The turtle was what finally made me decide to return the set. I was wiping the turtle down with a wet paper towel and yellow paint started coming off! The whole thing was turning yellow! I've NEVER had that happen with any Learning Resources toy, and paint coming off is a deal breaker for me. The only animal that didn't have any issues was the shark. It broke my heart because my son saw the set and wanted them, but for $35 I'm not keeping it with this many issues. I was actually wondering if this is even a real Learning Resources set or if this could be a knock off, and when my husband saw the set he said the same thing. I'm debating on ordering another just to see if it's any better, but I'm not sure I'm willing to bother with it at this point. Like I said, we have most of the other sets of these animals, most of the food sets, and some of the other play sets, and I've NEVER had issues like this. The only issue I've had is the animals have a strong plastic smell when you first open them, so I let them sit for a night or two to air out and they don't stink anymore. Well, that and some of the animals legs are bent a bit so they can't stand up on their own, but a little heat from the hairdryer and you can bend them back to shape. So I'm giving this set 2 stars because the shark looks nice and I could have lived with the pinholes and cut the piece of plastic off the dolphin's mouth, but I'm not giving my kids a toy that has paint rubbing off. There were just too many issues with this set to be worth it.

Perfect for the animal loving kids

My son loves these animals! He has the entire set of learning resources jumbo animals. The quality is very good and they're solid enough to handle the day to day rigors of being handled by little boys. On a few occasions I've noticed some excess plastic on the joints of the animals. If your toys have that you should cut it off so it doesn't scratch your kids. It's not a big deal just trying to help someone else. I recommend these to anyone who has young kids or anyone who's searching to buy a gift for young kids. They are the perfect size for our 1 and 3 year old boys. I've noticed the price fluctuates so if the price is right, buy them!

Expensive for what you get

While the kids will probably like these, I don't think they are worth the $40 I spent on them 3 of them have terrible seams on them. I don't know why they couldn't just make them all one piece. The Turtle, octopus and seal weren't what I would call jumbo size either. kinda cheaply made compared to some of the others we own. we will see how they hold up.

Great toys...but not for the bath!

Brilliantly sized and fab detail. Only slight disappointment is that we had hoped these would double up as bath toys (being ocean animals and all and my son loving his bath times) but each animal does have a small hole in it, allowing water in which will then go mouldy. Still a great toy and my son does love them though.
