This is a all metal on/off valve. Great quality & very easy to stop & start water flow. You won't regret buying this.

Very well built

This is mostly solid metal and very well built. I used it to replace the cheap plastic valve at the base of the shower wand.

Bought it for the washer... now using it for washing!

I was one of the many sad people looking for a replacement for the "RESOURCES CONSERVATION STAMFORD CT" showerhead. There are many showerheads that look similar to my old one, but even the highest-rated showerheads had somewhat mixed reviews. I wasn't sure which one to order. The rubber washer in my "RESOURCES CONSERVATION" showerhead had started to degrade and leak. I had to dig it out of there in many small pieces. Then I was horrified to discover that it wasn't shaped like the standard washer in most showerheads, and therefore would be difficult to replace. My plan was to get the cheapest possible showerhead of similar size/shape in a local store, try it out, and if I didn't like it, I'd just reuse its new washer in my old showerhead. This particular model is the first one that I happened to find. But I didn't have to take it apart after all. I tried it, and I was happy. The spray from this showerhead isn't exactly the same as my old one, but it's pretty close. It is more aerated, which (as you can read in other reviews) is a mixed blessing. It's certainly harder and more forceful than a mist, but isn't quite as concentrated as what the "RESOURCES CONSERVATION" showerhead used to output. However, I find that the slightly broader spray actually makes it better for rinsing shampoo. YMMV. Once I get used to it, I might even end up liking it better than the old one. In fact, the temporary shutoff/soap-up valve is definitely better than the one in my old showerhead. There is a slow but constant dribble from the bathtub faucet when I use this showerhead, both when I'm using the shutoff valve and when I'm not. I had that with my old one, too. If I stop up the drain, I end up with less than an inch of water in the tub after a 15-minute shower. I understand that this is necessary to relieve excess pressure, so it's not a flaw. (Indeed, the idea of having "excess pressure" in my low-pressure bathroom is pretty exciting.) Even with the dribble, it's still using less water than the more generous showerheads I've tried in the last few weeks. With those, I had to take out the flow regulator to get any pressure out of the head at all - but that uses up a lot more water and still feels more like a large gentle rain than a small intense blast. But if your bathroom already has adequate pressure, you will probably get more than a slow dribble, and lose a lot of water down the drain that you'd rather have pouring onto you. So, it's not the showerhead for everyone. But it's good for people whose water pressure is too low to coax a decent performance out of a fancier contraption.

Love this shower head

Love this shower head, gives a great spray pattern without losing pressure, can shut water off completely or slow the water flow down. Have purchased several of these in the past.

Good: supposed to trickle. Bad: thin washer.

I would give 5 stars but the washer it came with is very thin, had to use my own -why produce a quality brass valve, and go cheap on the washer? Also, for everyone complaining about it leaking when off, that's what it is designed to do, read the description "Reduces water flow to a trickle". In my case this is good, as shutting off the water completely at the shower-head makes the water come out cold, if it's been off for anything more than a minute or so. I'm still saving lots of water, even with the trickle.

Almost perfect.

Product was well made and fit perfect with a nice chrome finish. Unfortunately the shut off only stopped about 80 percent of the water. Almost perfect,Too bad.

Make sure to use plumbers tape on the threads.

Used in two of my showers as water savers.
