Amazing detail
Wasn't sure of the quality when ordered, but the lamp arrived yesterday. Wow is the simple response. The artist who created the original mold shows amazing detail, from the hoof to the head, not a detail was missed. Fantastic

The harp doesn't clear an american bulb
I adore this lamp! The giraffe itself looks better in person. However, that being said it has drawbacks. The wire coming out of the belly is a bummer as you can only display the giraffe at a certain angle. And the lampshade itself is a joke. I received it bent and when illumated it looks like it has scuffs. The harp that holds the lampshade does not clear a regular bulb and so I purchased a new harp so I don't burn the place down. Because of that the lamp is too short to hide the neck cut off area. I don't mind getting things to make it perfect. But for the price I expect it to be ready to do out of the box.

A really fun and kitsch lamp, that was sadly delivered with a dirty, cheap lampshade
Ok - Firstly, overall, I do love the lamp. I definitely thought the price was high when I purchased it but my wife had it on her Christmas list and it's the sort of fun, cheesy, kitsch and weird item I thought our new home needed. The base and main structure seems solid and sturdy and the whole thing came packaged very carefully and with lots of polystyrene protection. The downsides: The lampshade is very cheap looking, with really bad gluing - that's already coming apart - and even some stains (see pictures). For a novelty lamp over $100, I was surprised and disappointed when my wife opened this on Christmas Eve. It's not enough to go through the headache of returning it but I will be writing to the company. Also the power cord to the lamp is thick and white and comes right out of the center of the giraffe, I am not sure why it doesn't discreetly come out of the base of the lamp. So 3 stars it is. For the money, I'd say it's only remotely worth it if you are not looking for perfection and accept some minor issues. If this was $50 cheaper I wouldn't even be writing this review.

Absolutely gorgeous!
I was not sure if I would really like this in person. Blown away by the quality and beauty. I purchased the metal tree top lamp shade separately. I loved this lamp so much I bought a second. The one con the electrical cord is in the back of the giraffe, which looks awkward. It should be in the base. Otherwise I would highly recommend.

Great for a nursery/child’s room, or just because you like giraffes ( in my case ).

Very nice lamp but...
Like others have said the head doesn't screw on quite right. If you tighten it all the way he is looking behind himself. I had his head facing forward and it was a little loose but fine. Another thing was the cord comes out of the left side of his belly so you would have to have him facing to the right to hide it. I'm not sure why they wouldn't design it so the cord comes out of the base or even under his belly. It is still a very nice lamp: Sturdy, heavy, and pretty. It just has a couple flaws.

Wonderful Lamp at a Great Price
I love this lamp. I've been looking for a giraffe lamp for years, and this is exactly what I wanted, and priced much better than anything similar I've found. As several reviewers mentioned, the color is more gray than white. My only complaint is that the on/off toggle is further down the power cord and away from the lamp than I would prefer, given how short the cord is. Though a bit inconvenient, it does not change my overall rating. For those who complained the head was pointing backwards, it's a simple fix: merely take out and turn around the piece into which the head screws.
