A Very Good (Understated) Hue Product
I will start off by admitting that after having tried several different wifi based smart lights with little or no success, I eventually caved in and joined the Hue side-mostly for its build quality and Zigbee protocol. And I have to say that not having to deal with bandwidth issues and unreliable bulbs/apps, I couldn't be happier. The old adage that you get what you pay for most certainly applies with Hue. In early 2019, I began the journey of migrating over to Philips Hue. Since that time, Ive not had a single glitch with almost 100 bulbs and two Hue bridges. Every automation works, every light performs as expected. I can use both HomeKit and Google Home (and Alexa if I had one of their products). Like all my other Hue investments, with these Hue Ludere Floodlights, I have gotten a huge return on my investment. I currently have 6 of them (12 bulbs) around the perimeter of my house. They are programmed to come on at sunset, progressively brighten to full brightness in an hour until midnight, then dim down to their lowest level until sunrise. They never fail. Ever..with the oldest being almost two years now. Initially, I was concerned about the asthetics of the fixture itself, but after the first install, I grew to realize that these are just fine (not fancy, but certainly functional and well built). The fixture is made mostly of a hard resin type plastic that has been caste black (no other color option), with metal components in the base and adjusters. In that regard, they are similarly built to the generic fixtures that you can buy online or maybe even at your local hardware store with a small difference: the price. I actually found that buying these Hue floodlights as a kit (the regular non smart fixture with the bulbs you have to screw in) is cheaper than buying the Par 38 bulbs separately, then buying similar housing. To be clear, you get the bulbs AND the fixture for $79. If you purchase a similar non Hue fixture and the Hue bulbs separately, it will cost significantly more. The cheapest I priced the non Hue fixture was $40-which was of comparable material. You're also taking a chance on whether or not the fixture is optimal for the Hue bulbs. However, with the Hue fixture, you can rest assured that they are optimized for their brand of outdoor smart bulbs (a definite plus for me). Here's the breakdown: Currently the Hue food light bulbs 2pk sale for $55 on amazon. Add a separate light fixture for $40, you will have paid $95..whereas this kit (2 bulbs AND the fixture) goes for $79. That's why I bought 6 of them over time. Now if you already have a fixture you are happy with, then of course only get the bulb pack-IF it completely covers the bulb that's great. But if you're looking to replace the housing with a fixture that sets the bulbs flush in its housing-jump at these because I haven't seen the kit for quite some time on Hue's website-which leads me to believe the kit has been discontinued. Hope this helps you make a decision.

Lucca looks sharp, but install experience is terrible
Hue Lucca's mid-century modern vibe is spot-on. I am a fan of the minimalistic design, and the fixture looks great when lit. That's where my design props end... full stop. Whoever designed the installation hardware is a sadist: due to the use of only the most fiddly and poorly-designed tinytinytiiiiiny parts, mounting will probably be an exercise in frustration for many. In addition, the wire nuts that you absolutely will need to install it are not included in the package. In three decades of buying lighting fixtures, I have never encountered one that did not come with the accessories necessary to install it. Sure, many people may have spares in their garage but, if not, you're going to have to run to the hardware store to pick some up. This is not how you want to introduce new customers to your (overpriced) products, Philips. While you are at the hardware store, you might want to pick up some caulk, too... because Philips also opted to not include any kind of gasket around the plastic base. Once the fixture is installed, most people will likely like the way it looks. Like all Hue products, the wireless connection seems pretty stable and the automation works pretty well. Just hope that the included white bulb lasts a long time, since -- you guessed it -- even accessing the bulb is a multi-step convoluted hot mess, which will require you to find the tiny Torx wrench that came with the fixture to remove not one but two minuscule Torx screws and their fiddly transparent protective washers (which are not captive and very very easy to lose). Once you have done that, you will need a third hand to hold the main body of the fixture, because it is the part to which the ground wire is tethered. That is because Philips chose to use a flimsy plastic base that cannot be used as a grounding point: the only metal part of the lamp is the outer aluminum housing. I understand that plastic was used in the base to improve Lucca's ability to receive wireless signals, but that doesn't explain why the plastic used feels so cheap and flimsy, why the tiny twist plastic caps needed to secure it to the wall are so small that even the smallest fingers will find them difficult to manipulate, or why there is no gasket around the plastic base. There are so so soooo many ways that the process could have been made easier for the user, but they probably would have cost Philips a few more pennies per unit, and in mass manufacturing of the scale at which Hue products are pumped out, every corner cut surely adds up to big profits for Philips. I would like to think some beancounting middle manager parlayed all of Lucca's penny-pinching indignities into an epic bonus that allowed him/her to retire to the French Riviera, a reward for dragging corporate corner-cutting bs down to a new nadir. PS - It is worth noting that the included bulb is Philips' least expensive white-only bulb, which allows you to adjust brightness -- but NOT color temperature -- via the Hue app. If you want warmer or cooler tones, forget it. If you want colors, forget it. There are plenty of reviews by users claiming to have swapped in color bulbs with no ill effects, but remember that Philips' color bulbs are not rated for use in enclosed fixtures nor are they rated for outdoor usage, so swapping them in the may result in shorter lifespan / voided warranty. PPS - Against my better judgment, I installed another Lucca today, a week after the first one. Although I knew what to expect, somehow the process was even worse the second time, due mainly to a different kind of electrical box. Still appalled at the tiny Torx screws -- which are super-easy to drop while you are up on the ladder wrangling with the awkward multi-part body, and for which no spares included, of course -- as well as the overall user-unfriendliness of the design and install process. Despite Philips' attempt to position Hue products in a premium technology space, it has a lot to learn about providing a premium user experience from the moment you open the box to the completion of the install.

Another Great Hue Light!
The Philips Hue lights throughout our whole house have served us very well over the years. But we’ve never had any on the exterior, until now. We finally got around to replacing the aging exterior sconces with Hue lights. The installation was SUPER easy. I put up three sconces in roughly 35-40mins. I’ve set them on timers to come on at sunset and off at sunrise. You can’t beat the price. The only down side I’d have to say is they’re a bit smaller than I expected. You can see I stuck my hand in one of the photos for scale. They still look fantastic though and very bright considering it’s just one bulb (included).

Very nice light with smart features
The lights come well packaged and with clear instructions. My only install issue was related to my older home and the prior external light fixture box. The older fixture box was surrounded with some trim From the vinyl siding and that was too toght to allow for the new light fixture to screw in... I wanna able to use some small washers as spacers to raise the cross piece up and allow the fixture screw to bite and tighten. The lights are nice and bright. For smart features a Hue Hub is needed but... both bulbs connected independently to my Echo Plus for basic functionality no problem... switch the lights off and on to put them in pairing mode. I can now voice command them and have added them to some of the home routines we have in the Alexa app. I think it's a bit over priced but all in all a good purchase!

Excellent light
Very happy with the result and so bright in our dark yard. Bought the sensor too and it’s a perfect pair.

Great Basic Smart light
Great front porch light. Adjustable brightness level, however does not get super bright (not that it's required). Install is no different then a standard light fixture. Didn't realize that the Hue Hub was required when I purchased, but once received, set up was easy.
