good product if you disable auto-lock feature
I have four of these, and I like the product, but I initially had problems with the mechanism frequently jamming. The symptom of jamming is that there is a point of resistance when manually swinging the deadbolt from unlocked to locked position. It is easy to fix by removing three small screws and resetting the gears, but I was getting tired of resetting it every day. One lock at a time, I disabled the auto-lock feature, and i soon noticed that the only one jamming was the one that still had auto-lock enabled. Once I disabled auto-lock, it stopped jamming. That is unfortunate because auto-lock was one of the reasons i bought these for all of my exterior doors (kids forget to lock the door). if you are experiencing short battery life with this product, check to see whether the mechanism is jammed or whether the strike plate needs adjusting so that the deadbolt stops binding. One final comment, Kwikset support is excellent: the first time I experienced a jam, they replaced the entire product without requiring that the old one be shipped back to them.

Works well
Installation was a breeze since I had a Kwikset deadbolt originally. Setting the master code and user coded was pretty straight forward. I suggest holding onto the instructions in case you ever want to change or remove a user code. I attempted to add a new user code after a month and forgot how :)

Happy with purchase
Looks good and works well. I had a heck of a time aligning the deadbolt with the strike plate and eventually got an adjustable strike plate that can be slid horizontally to help with alignment. That could have been my lack of handyman skills, but it worked. Cleanup of strike plate area in progress.

Great lock but a note about installation
This lock was great and once we figured out we needed to use the back-plate (which it says you only need to use if the hole in the door is too small WRONG) installation was easy. Everything fit fine, the hold in the door was not too small but when we tried to screw the hardware to the back of the door the screws were too short. Finally tried the back-plate and we were all set.

Awesome lock
After leaving the house unlocked for the millionth time it was time to get a self locking deadbolt. This lock is a great value. Install was a breeze with the included instructions. I love being able to leave the house without keys and the piece of mind that the door is locked. Only downside to this unit is you can’t change the 30 second self locking mechanism to a different length of time. For over half the price of other locks I can deal with that. The box says the finish has a lifetime guarantee. Since I live right by the beach I’ll be interested to see how it looks in a few years and if the company stands by their warranty.

Great lock with one caveat
This lock is easy to install and works great as long as you use it in the standard configuration. If however, you need to extend it for a larger offset, there is a design flaw which prevents the auto lock feature from working. It cannot overcome the friction and fails. Had the same issue on two separate of these locks.

Easy Installation - Works Great! :: Plus a 19-month usage UPDATE!
After having used this deadbolt lock for about two months now (see below for 5-2021 update), I can share with you I am totally satisfied with it. After shopping dozens of different keyless deadbolts, ranging in price from just over $50 to well over $350, I settled on this one, in the bottom of the price range. Why? 1. I don't trust the security of my personal information in the cloud - there have been far too many data breaches of supposedly "Secure" companies that expose untold quantities of data to hackers. This means I really don't want a lock that interfaces with the cloud. (Internet.) 2. The more expensive locks offer thousands of different entry codes. I only need about three or four. This one offers ten. Plenty for me. 3. The more expensive locks offer the ability to interface with your phone, and lock or unlock your door remotely. I cannot think of a single instance when I would need or use this feature, and so I'm not willing to pay more to have it. 4. This lock offers one-time-use codes, as well as optional auto-lock after a period of time I can set. I don't currently need either of those, but I might, and I am not paying extra to get them. 5. This lock offers the ability to program entry codes up to 10 digits. Four digits is too insecure for me, so I'm glad I can use more. 6. There is a one-button push to lock feature. I didn't realize how much of a plus this was until last month when I went to an AirBnB that had a pushbutton lock that you had to enter the code to LOCK it as well as unlock it. That was a pain. DRAWBACKS: There are only five code buttons. This means the code for 2-4-6-8-0 uses the same buttons as 1-3-5-7-9. This reduces the security of the lock somewhat, but I knew this before I bought it, and with the very low risk where I live I deemed it NOT to be a problem. Especially if I program longer-than-4-digit codes. There IS a light that comes on, lighting the buttons from the inside, when you push the first button - very good for night time entry especially for someone who is unfamiliar with the lock. However, it's only moderate brightness and the buttons are not large, so this might not be enough for some older people or those with vision challenges. However, the buttons are arranged in a distinctive pattern, and it is easy to find your first button by feel, and actually to enter your entire code by feel. Moderately obscure programming. There is small chance I will remember the code programming how-to the next time I need to do it. But the VERY SMALL PRINT instructions are easily followed. Just don't lose your instruction micro-manual. And keep a magnifying glass handy to read it. No word on battery life yet. After two months, the initial set of batteries is still going strong. Overall, this lock rates five stars. If I ever need another one, I'll probably buy this brand again. ========= UPDATE - 19 Months Later ============== This lock still gets FIVE STARS in my book. After about 19 months of flawless operation, I finally had to replace the first set of batteries. Needless to say, I had LOST my micro-print manual, but it was easy to find the PDF version of the manual online. Because I had replaced the batteries, I had to re-program the whole thing. Since I had only changed the master code and entered 3 user codes, this was not that big a deal, but I can see if you had a dozen or more user codes, reprogramming could be a pain in the patoot. In the reprogramming, I ran into a problem - one that wasn't covered in the manual. So I called the toll-free number (in the manual), and with a minimal journey through voice menu purgatory, I actually got a LIVE PERSON who was friendly and knowledgeable, and had my problem fixed quickly. (It turns out I needed to take out the batteries, push all the buttons, re-install the batteries, and start over, then all was well.) This was OUTSTANDING customer service, and reinforces my very strong 5-star rating for this device.

Straightforward replacement
This took me about hour to replace our existing push button lock. Works great. Set-up new Master Code and 4 user codes quickly. Downside is the max 50 second auto lock feature. I wanted 2 minutes, enough time to take out the trash! Buttons are reverse of last unit so retraining the brain. Shouldn't have to enter code and push lock button to open.

Inexpensive and does the job
Let's be honest...I live in the country in rural New Brunswick. I am not overly concerned about security. However I hate looking for my keys in the ark in the boonies. This latch is super great, easy to use. It lights up when you press the buttons! Yes, there is a small delay while it unlocks itself but it's all of 3 seconds....not like you are going to smash into your house with a bag of groceries. It's an awesome little lock for the price. It's a deadbolt plain and simple! You won't be disappointed

Good value for money; minor issues.
These are definitely good for the money spent. I have bought Weiser and Schlage in the past and they were more expensive. I like the Kwikset design and they were fairly easy to set up. Had a few glitches during setup and during the super deep freeze weather but they work. Really love the SmartKey feature (on all the brands).

Modern Feel, Easy to Use, High Quality Deadbolt
I purchased this Deadbolt to add not only an extra layer of security to my front door (previously only had a door lock), but also for ease of access in case I misplace my keys. The initial feel out of the box was a very high-quality unit that was easy to assemble and install. The included cut-out template was a lifesaver when preparing to drill the holes in my door and jamb. All-in-all the install took about an hour, into a door that previously was not setup for a dead-bolt. If doing this sort of install yourself you WILL require a hole saw of the correct diameter that is metal rated. The setup instructions were detailed and I had the powered lock/unlock working within minutes. I've since had to adjust the striker in the jamb, but the lock works as it should, and adds that layer of security and modernization to my older home. The finish is great!

Works and looks great!
No complaints at all. Quick delivery, super easy to install and use. Nice to be able to have different codes, to re-key old keys, to have 1 time codes, and have it auto lock.

Works good.
Nice finish and good locks. Love the SmartKey feature so I can reprogram all my locks to one key. Only thing I don't like about the lock is that when you want to open, you have to key in your pin and then press the lock button. I have similar locks from my Vivint security system that have the same keypad but doesn't require the extra lock press to unlock. Not sure what the model number on the Vivint Kwikset is though.
