Easy install
This product is all in one buy.The only extra thing you need,to prevent leaking from threads. Is plumbers tape.Other then that, the two rubber seals that are provided.Work great. No puddy needed. The quality of product is outstanding. The look is classy & operation is easy.I have tried a lot of drains & no others compare. If you don't want a headache.Buy this.

great drain, but leaks without teflon tape
As other reviews have said, this drain is great for its price. It looks nice and feels solid and once installed properly, works really well (so far). I've really come to like Kraus products, but sometimes their instructions are a bit lacking or wrong. In my case I needed to use Teflon tape on the pipe threads, otherwise (as others have mentioned), it leaks from under the nut. The concave gasket itself is not enough to form a seal without the tape (see my photos). However, I did not need to use plumbers putty on the sink flange - the rubber gasket that came with it was good enough. So make sure you install this with Teflon tape over the pipe threads.

Nice drain but read this before installation!
This is a little bit of a statement piece as the head of the pop up drain is quite large compared to most of the others I have seen, but seems well made and came with quality parts. The reason for four stars is because installing as the directions showed gave us a small leak at the base of the sink no matter what we did. My dad has installed countless drains for us over the years and we had trouble with this one because of one of the washers. It has a concave washer and the picture doesn't show which way it should go on in the directions that came with it. The picture on Amazon shows the concave portion facing up toward the sink, which is how we tried first. We ended up switching it to where the concave side of the washer faced down and it fixed the problem and we haven't had any trouble since. Made for a frustrating 20 minutes trying to find out why is was leaking, but looks great now.

Great quality
This is a great quality item, don't waste your time buying retail junk. I had bought another unit at the store I bought my vanity from which was a total piece of junk. First it had no instructions, the overflow cutouts were completely jagged and unfinished which would catch hair and other goop. The size was off, nothing at the local hardware stores was a proper fit and no matter what we did for 3 days of messing around, it leaked. By the time we were done, it was too damaged to even return. I ordered this from Amazon and got it in two days with free Prime shipping (always a plus). This had instructions (what a novel idea) and was packaged nicely. As soon as I opened it, I could tell it was better quality. The overflows look machine finished. The bottom extension pipe threads over the drain threads so water goes straight down. (You'd think this would be a common sense design, but the first unit threaded inside and even with tape, putty and washers, would leak). This has the nice umbrella popup that looks classy in my remodeled bathroom. Overall, this was a great purchase. If I hadn't bought the more expensive piece of junk first, I might not have realized that, but it was a good lesson learned.

THESE LEAK. DO NOT install according to directions, use PUTTY & TEFLON TAPE
The media could not be loaded. I have four Kraus-branded square vessel sinks with this pop-up drain and ALL of them leaked when using the included silicone gaskets. I spent time dealing with Kraus’ tech support via email, and finally got a call from a US-based tech agent after trying to call in several times and trying to deal with a non-US tech support that was completely useless. They even sent me replacement gaskets, “just in case.” I was told to tighten the nut on the bottom more, then less. They said it wasn’t seated correctly...it WAS. After damaging the bottom of two cabinets because of the leaking, they suggested I assemble the sink and the pop-up drain outside and look for leaks...it still leaked. It leaks BADLY from the threads, and once we finally used Teflon tape, we got it to stop leaking through the threads, only to start leaking above the top silicone washer. Kraus said specifically that there “is no need” for Teflon tape. HA! THERE IS ONLY ONE SOLUTION TO THIS INSTALLATION PROBLEM. Kraus CLAIMS that this isn’t necessary, but let me save you time and headaches. Totally IGNORE their installation instructions. Don’t use the silicone gasket that goes under the drain topside (in the sink). TOSS IT. Get plumber’s putty and put a LARGE rope of putty around the pop-up drain, then push the drain into the hole. If plumber’s putty squooshes (technical term) from under the drain, then you have enough. Scrape off the excess with your fingernail. Then wrap the tail pipe at the very top of the threads with Teflon tape...at least FIVE wraps, possibly more if that doesn’t stop the leaking. Kraus, I have installed sinks in the past, so I’m not a complete newbie. I bought FIVE Kraus sinks for a major remodel, and have had problems with all of them. My guess is that plumbers are installing these and using putty, and Kraus just hasn’t bothered to ask plumbers if they’re having problems with them. I’d love to think it’s as easy as using the nice little silicone gaskets, but save yourself the headache and use this installation method before you damage your vanity sink bases.

Great value for money
Easy to install and pop-up mechanism seems to be sturdy. But be aware that you will need some teflon tape to eliminate leakage. Other than this quality is great.

Looks nice.
It's a very nice looking drain. Feels really sturdy, no leaks so far after installing. Definitely recommend. I have used cheap drains and there's a noticable difference

Excellent quality.
Toss out the freebie that you got with your tap set and use one of these. You won’t be disappointed.

This product is way better than what you can pick up at the hardware ...
This product is way better than what you can pick up at the hardware store. It's a solid piece of metal and the overflow slots are better positioned (for our sink the one we had gotten first had higher overflow holes, leading to water building up in the overflow). The rubber gaskets are of good quality, but like any other drain you'll still need properly applied plumber's putty at the bottom flange to get a good, watertight seal. The only negative for this drain is that the chromed finish has a tendency to build up scum that's very hard to clean off.

but looks great (big chrome cover)
As others have alluded to, my first install leaked too. The key is to use teflon tape (and/or pipe dope) on the threads where the top retaining bolt sits. Some reviewers have suggested putting plumbers putty above or below the top seal, but that will do nothing on an overflow drain (ie on those all you really care about is the bottom seal since water gets below the top one anyways.) Once I added the teflon tape, all was well. The gasket is correctly convex'd in the instructions, that is not the problem as others have suggested. Pain to install, but looks great (big chrome cover), holds water well, and decent value. I think 3/5 is about where it belongs.
