Kohler GP30420 O-Ring Seal Kit - Bearings, O-Rings & Lube - Perfect for Kohler K-10412 Single Control Faucet
This kit was exactly what we needed to stop a leak in our 2.5 year old Kohler K-10412 Single Control Faucet (Brushed Nickel finish). The leak started about a week ago and got progressively worse each day, virtually turning into a river two days ago. These parts were delivered yesterday and, with our 14 year old son's help, we fixed the leak this morning. The job took about 20 minutes total (think we could do it in 10 next time though...), and we also replaced the valve (Kohler GP1016515 Valve for Single-Control Faucets ) and the friction ring (KOHLER 1005201 Washer Friction ) in the process. One note: We purchased this kit based on responses received to a question posed to other Amazon buyers... and we say thanks to you all for confirming this was the right kit, and for providing great cleaning, lubrication and fitting tips. The two Kohler DIY YouTube videos were perfect too ("Replace the Diverter" and "Replace the Valve"). A tip of the hat to you all; our faucet is operating like new once again, in large part to your guidance, and here is what we did: * Turned off the water running to the sink * Put stoppers in the drains on both sides of the sink, just to make sure nothing accidentally went down the drain... * Used a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the plug from the back of the handle, providing access the handle's set screw * Used a small hex (Allen) wrench to loosen the set screw, and then lifted the handle off * Unscrewed (by hand) the covering over the valve (took a bit of 'uumph' to get started, but easy thereafter) * Lifted the faucet ('hub' and 'spout') straight up and off. This was not hard for us to do at all * Thoroughly cleaned the inside of the 'hub' and the handle with soap and Scotch-Brite scrubbing material * Used a pipe wrench to loosen the mounting nut holding the valve in place, then finished loosening and removing by hand * Removed the old valve; the gaskets from the bottom of the valve were stuck inside the faucet, so we had to clean that out * The valve stem sits in a plastic bracket mounted in the handle; we replaced the old bracket with one that came with the valve * Removed the old slide bearings, o-rings and the friction washer and threw them away * Used soap & the Scotch-Brite material to clean the inner workings, especially the o-ring & bearing grooves * Put the new valve unit in place, lining up the posts on the valve to holes inside the faucet for a perfect fit * Cleaned and replaced the mounting nut; hand tightened, then used the pipe wrench for the final quarter-turn * Used the o-ring kit's lubricant to give the noted grooves a heavy coat of that thick, sticky silicone based lube * Lowered the new friction washer into place at the base of the unit * Put both new slide bearings into their grooves * Put a coat of the lubricant on each new o-ring, then lowered them into place in their grooves * Liberally used up the remaining lubricant by coating the outside of the o-rings * Lowered the faucet ('hub' and 'spout') back into place; it was a very tight fit this time (unlike when we took it off) * Used a rubber mallet and small piece of pine 2x4 to lightly tap the unit down the last 1/4 inch... the fit was that tight * Cleaned and then screwed on (by hand) the covering over the valve until finger tight * Placed the handle back on top of the valve, lining up the valve stem with the new plastic bracket we installed * Put the set screw back in place, and hand tightened with the hex (Allen) wrench until just snug * Replaced the plug covering access to the set screw * Took the drain stoppers out * Turned the water back on... looked for leaks... turned the faucet on and tested the hot & cold water flow... moved the spout around No leaks. Like new. Excellent. Was a lot nicer to spend $20 instead of $200 for a new unit. If you have the same sort of issue and have confirmed that these parts are right for your unit, we recommend them very highly. Go for it.

fixed my leaky faucet
I'm not exactly sure the leak was fixed by replacing this part or the faucet valve, but it was not extremely expensive. No more leaky faucet.

Kohler Forte Series Kitchen Sink Faucet Leaki?
This is very straight forward. If you own a Kohler kitchen faucet that is one of their many branded names, this kit may be for you. If you have a Kohler Forte series kitchen faucet that leaks above and below the faucet stem column, YOU NEED THIS KIT! It only takes about 30 minutes to remove the old O-ring and nylon bearings and replace the new ones and lubricate the whole set with the provided silicone based lubricant. Viola! NO more leaks! Easy enough to use the Kohler web site and Google search for the applicable YouTube replacement videos for your own specific Kohler faucet seal replacement videos. It absolutely IS THAT EASY TO DO!

Better than what came with the faucet originally - allows for much better flow control.
I had to look at YouTube videos to understand how to disassemble the faucet to get to the seals and O-rings. It is basically dead simple and easy to do yourself and can save yourself a lot versus having a plumbing outfit come and do it. In fact, these work better than what was originally there. Before, I could not get the faucet to come on with just a trickle. The first time you got water, it was a pretty good blast, which made it difficult when you are trying to add just a little water to canned cat food in a small bowl. Once I replaced the faucet with this new kit, the faucet control is much better and more refined, and I can now get the kind of water flow control I would expect. I don't know why these parts made such a difference but the whole thing now works better then when it was brand new, which was just about 4 years ago. (So yes, apparently these parts don't last long and you are expected to have to replace them every few years).

Easy Repair
This is the second set of O ring kits that I purchased for my kitchen faucet on the leaking repair. Very easy to replace and can save hundreds of dollars along with hassle. I am glad that I found the issue and went on the leap of faith to do it. Usually, the leaking can be caused by the failure of cartidge, diveter, or the O-Rings. In both times, it was the O Rings in my faucet which is also the cheapest part among these 3 possible replacment parts. They were simply worn off. Although I believe it is mostly Kohler faucet's design issue, this quick and cheap fix is the way to go if you have already got one installed and not planning to place the whole faucet set. From my first repair, it lasts around 3 years or so. I probably will keep this set of faucet and just replace the parts until the faucet is totally beyond rescue. Until then, I am glad at least Kohler has this kit for the solution.

No more leaks!
This stopped the leaking around the base of the faucet. I have had this Kohler single handle kitchen faucet (K-10412 CP) for 5 years. About a year ago we would notice some water seeping out the base as well as it was difficult to pivot the spigot between the double sinks. The water seepage got worse so I ordered this kit. Kohler maintenance video says this job should only take 15 mins. It would have, but I could not lift the faucet base straight out, it took several heaves and twists to get it to come off (another sign of failed O-rings according to Kohler). since I had the faucet housing out I cleaned any deposits inside the housing and on the base. Lubricated the O-rings and interior parts with the food grade grease that comes with the kit. Grease these parts generously. put it all together and no more leaks! BTW: Kohler has a lifttime warranty on the cartridge. They will ship you a free replacement provided you have the original receipt. 1.800.4.KOHLER
