Exactly What It Says It Is
I spent an extensive amount of time searching for the right brand and features that I thought I needed in a scooter. I had a bunionectomy on my left foot about 2 weeks ago and have been using crutches around the house, but have finally been getting to the point of needing more mobility. Thanks to this scooter I was able to take care of the dishes for the first time in 2 weeks without feeling unstable. My girlfriend put it together for me and it was already almost entirely assembled from the start. The box is pretty big so keep that in mind. She hardly had to look at the assembly instructions to piece the rest of it together. The handle bars and seat are slightly wobbly but not significant enough to make me feel like I'm going to lose balance or that the scooter will collapse on me. I'm 5'5" and found I had to put the seat down pretty far so that it allowed me to stand properly without my hip tilting up on the scooter side. The brakes are very sensitive and the brake lock works just fine. You squeeze the brake inward and push the small gray button down and it locks in place. I had no issues with the scooter moving unintentionally while locked-which is why I was able to do my chores-but I will note that my 3 year old nephew was able to push it around on the carpet, so it's still movable if needed to be, even while locked. I have not had to try folding down the handlebars as of yet for travel purposes, but given the rest of the scooter, I'm sure it will be fairly easy to do. The wire basket that came with it is perfect. It is easy to attach and is able to hold quite a few items. I also saw some reviews about needing extra cushion for the seat, and for me so far it has been just enough. I currently have a soft cast so it is flush with my shin and hasn't created a gap like I likely will have with a boot, so that aspect may change once my cast comes off. The maneuverability is decent. It definitely takes a couple of turns to back up, but if you give yourself enough berth it's possible to turn in a circle to avoid it. I'm still figuring out how to back up without running over my toes with the front wheels. The back wheels being close to the frame is extremely helpful. The scooter goes much faster on hardwood floors than carpet, so I can imagine one might go very fast at a slight decline if scootering outside. Make sure you are slow and controlled as you push off and take your time. So far it is exactly what I need, and despite some not so great reviews, I am more than pleased with this scooter. I'll be able to use it when I get my right side bunion taken care of, and I have another 4 weeks at least non-weight bearing for this one. 10/10 would recommend. Happy scooting!

What a relief
I received my Knee Rover at noon today (a day early, Thanks Amazon), my wife brought it in and unboxed it for me (bless HER). I had it assembled in less than 30 minutes and tested it (could not have done it without the photos). The operation for me was a no brainer so no comment about that. I could have purchased a less expensive brand and maybe it would have been okay but I'm glad I didn't try. Based on reviews of different brands the negatives were mostly about the wheel's performance and the cushion for the knee so I was a little worried about how the wheels were going to perform. I built my house 3 years ago with the idea that I might need a wheelchair someday so the floors are concrete (lots of throw rugs) and the only obstacles are the thresholds at the exterior doors which requires me to take a little weight off the wheels to get over them but it does roll over them (I go kind of crooked at it, not straight on). Also, I probably lift a little but that's because I can- being in fair health and 160 pounds. For now, the knee pad is comfortable. I am 100% happy with this device even though I gave the folding 3 stars. The 3 stars for folding because my fingers are too big to push the pin, however I found that I could actually move the whole lever to the side which moved the pin too. I don't plan to go anywhere while I'm recovering so folding isn't a big deal for me. I'd add a photo/video to make the review more interesting but there's no need.

This scooter made my life so much easier after breaking my foot!
After breaking my right foot I struggled with crutches for a week before getting this scooter and it was like night and day. I've been using it for just over a month, now, and I have 1-3 weeks to go in a non-weight-bearing cast. I still use my crutches for getting up and down stairs and in smaller spaces but this scooter has become indispensable for getting around at work and at home. PROS: 1. It's cute, I like the curved design and bright blue paint job. It makes it look a little more fun than the other medical scooters out there. My kids keep stealing it from me to ride around when I'm not using it. 2. Wheels ride very smoothly, handling well on concrete, asphalt, bricks, hardwood, rugs, and smooth floors. Not as easy on uneven ground or grass but I wouldn't expect it to be. 3. Feels very stable. The entire frame is very sturdy and it has never felt flimsy or unsteady. 4. Comfortable, for the most part. Settling your weight back on the knee pad takes some getting used to - at first the hamstring in my injured leg would hurt from balancing but after a week it went away - but overall it allows for a lot more freedom and that's worth it in my opinion. 5. Hand brake - this is important if you really get going with it, and it's so fun that you probably will really get going with it. It's touchy but I use a combination of light braking and dragging my good foot to slow down. Maybe I'm taking it too fast to begin with. :) 6. The knee pad is nice and long - my 8-year old daughter injured her own foot and had to have stitches and I was able to drive her around the grocery store sitting on the front of the knee pad while I knelt on the back. It was pretty fun! 7. The basket is great! Being able to carry stuff around is fantastic and it's a nice size. 8. I am 5'2" and was easily able to adjust it to my height. It has a ton of options to go much taller so I think it would suit a large variety of people. 9. This sucker collapses nicely, the handlebars can be pushed down below the level of the knee pad (take the basket off) and it fits into the trunk of a car easily. CONS 1. The handlebar grips that came with it were way too big for my hands to grasp comfortably. I got terrible cramps from them. I replaced them with foamier kids' bike grips that aren't nearly as durable but they're not curved and a lot more comfortable for me. 2. The brake cable is pretty loopy and gets caught on things. I've nearly tripped on it a couple of times, so wrap it securely behind the basket to keep it out of the way if you can. 3. The turning radius isn't super great. I considered getting the offroad model for the larger tires and single wheel in the back, but this one was cheaper and looked nicer. I have an older house with narrower rooms and doorways so it takes some doing to get turned around. I'm able to lift the front of it and swing it around while standing on my good leg, so it's not impossible, just a hassle. 4. The knee pad is covered in vinyl and I'm kneeling on it with my bare knee (I have a lower leg cast and wear skirts) and it makes me sweat. At home I keep a hand towel around to put on the pad while I'm working in the kitchen or using it for extended periods. Definitely consider getting a proper cover for it. 5. The handlebars could be longer. I find my left arm and elbow, especially, getting fatigued when I'm out and about from keeping the front wheels straight (I injured my right foot). If the handlebars were 4-6 inches longer on each end it would balance out the leverage quite a bit. 6. The clamp that holds the handlebars in place gets wobbly pretty quickly. It's still secure, the pin that holds it in doesn't come loose, but it rattles around because the clamp comes undone. You have to turn it clockwise and mash the lever to secure it and it goes from way too loose to way too hard to push down in a centimeter. I use my foot to push it down. When it's completely stable it's a dream, but most of the time I deal with it being a little wobbly because I don't feel like messing with it any more. 7. The basket initially didn't fit over the hooks because the vinyl coating on the top edge was getting caught on the part that holds the hooks. Once I mashed it in a few times a bit of the coating came off and it fits fine, now. Give it a good mash. 8. As other reviewers have mentioned the wheel bolts stick out a lot on the front wheels and I've bashed up my door frames and trim quite a bit with them. Oops. 9. Can be unbalanced if you're not careful. I was driving it forward at camp and hit a tree root and tipped myself forward right over the handlebars - the rear end lifted right up and I ended up stomping down on my broken foot to keep from falling. I've been a lot more cautious since that happened and make sure I have my weight settled back on the knee pad at all times. 10. The brake lock isn't fantastic - it doesn't hold perfectly tight and it can slip unlocked. I don't use it, really, so it's not a huge concern - just be aware of it. 11. Don't run over your foot. Be careful backing up while looking behind you. That's my bad, but it still hurts. My good foot is covered in bruises - maybe I really do need to slow down! Overall, the cons are pretty minor compared to the freedom and mobility I've gained using this scooter - I really love it! In addition to the softer handlebar grips I got a bicycle cup holder (essential) and a cute horn shaped like a dinosaur. I had purple streamers but my cat kept trying to eat them. I get comments and compliments every time I go out in public with this scooter. Best of all it was radically cheaper than what was offered to me by the medical supply store - they didn't have one in stock and wanted me to pay nearly $600 to order the one scooter they offered, sight unseen! The price I paid on Amazon was about the same as it would have cost me to rent a scooter for the duration, and this thing is going to last. In short: if your mobility is limited due to a foot or leg injury you owe it to yourself to get this scooter. You will be SO happy with it, I guarantee. Who knows, perhaps we'll re-purpose it once I'm done needing it and cause some more injuries? Just kidding! Maybe. :)

Great scooter if you have an achilles injury
I am 6ft6" (2m) and the range of adjustment on this scooter allowed me to use it with ease, small little basket on the front helps to collect the odd grocery whilst partner is pushing the trolley. Fantastic for zipping about supermarkets/hospitals and going distances when using crutches is just very tiring and a pain. Cannot recommend this highly enough for getting about if you have some kind of leg injury.

Well worth the price. Very highly recommend.
This little knee scoter has been a live saver. Had surgery on foot/ankle. Can't walk on it for 6 to 12 weeks. Tried using crutches but was so afraid of falling. (I am 75 years young) Using the scoter is a breeze. We live in a small condo unit and this little thing fits into every room so I can move around on my own. When it is locked it makes a great support for getting on and off of chairs, the bed , the toilet etc. I very highly recommend this product. I will be donating it to a person or organization that can use it after I am finished with it. I guess I should talk about how well it is made and it is very sturdy, well put together. The little bit of assembly I had to do was very easy. The entire unit is also attractive so I won't be embarrassed to use it when I go to the follow up appointments at the hospital and physo.

Well made, functional, worth the money
It was easy to assemble. It came with all tools needed and excellent, well written and illustrated instructions. It also came with a spare bolt and Kneepad Locking Pin. I have not had foot surgery yet, but got the Knee Walker early to learn how it works, etc. The hand brake worked without any adjustment needed. After a couple of tries, I learned how to use only one hand to hold the hand brake while pushing the button down to set the parking brake. I like the way the tie rod steering limits how far the wheels will move right or left. I know some people don't like this limitation because it requires a bigger turning radius, but I can see that it also provides greater stability. My house is small and there are a few corners that will require two and three-point turns, but I don't see this as a problem.

It's a god-sent after ankle surgery
I just had ankle surgery for a torn tendon, with my right foot immobilized with a cast. I was torn by the hospital to walk around with crutches for the next few weeks. The stress on my left foot and knee born by walking with those made me wonder right away if I was going to be in for more surgery soon. Fortunately I had already bought this knee scooter. I chose this one since its handle bar extends relatively high (I'm 1.86 m / 6'1" tall) and I didn't want to lean over. This one is solidly made, allows me to operate it in a fully upright position with minimal impact on my healthy foot. Most of the weight, in fact, will be born by the injured leg, with the affected area of the foot safely ankled away. The scooter allows you to retain much of your daily activities (I cook from it, for example). Trips to the bathroom are much easier. Crutches at home have become entirely obsolete. If you have ankle surgery this is what I'd be using to get around. You don't need a wheel chair either with it. The little basket in front allows you to transport items (you can actually, with some practice, hand-carry items with you left hand, although the right one should always remain at the handle bar and break. I have had no issue with vertical stability--even on sharp turns there hadn't been any danger of it falling over. My sole complaint is that the lock on the brake is a bit difficult to operate. You need to push in a button while pulling the brake handle full force at the same time, which I find hard to do with one hand. The lock is absolutely essential since you don't want the scooter to move while you are hands-free. All in all, I'm really happy with it--so far the best post-surgery gadget that I have bought, and well worth the extra money spent.

The lifesaver for post ankle surgery
This product is a lifesaver after a broken ankle with surgery : Ankle Fracture Open Reduction Internal Fixation. 8 weeks without weight on the right foot. The basket is perfect to carry things. Easy to put in a SUV trunk. My husband used it for hospital appointment, grocery and mall shopping even to “walk” on sidewalk. Good for inside and outside. I had to resolve a light problem with the vendor and the customer service was incredible. Quick response and shipping of a part express. The orthopedist surgeon at hospital took notes of the name of the brand and model because she said it is the best one she saw. She will recommend it to her patients.
