Original part. All in one Takes patience but oil rubber washer when installing and should get it all to lock in place with little pressure and twist

Tip: Lubricate the rubber seal
Very easy to install - FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS - and importantly you MUST lubricate the rubber seal with vegetable/olive oil. Our 25+ year old Kohler toilet is now flushing better than most of these new toilets on the market.

Fit San Marino and Rialto toilet
I called Kohler directly to find the correct part for my over 25 yr old toilet. This fit perfectly. I only needed a new rubber seal and a flapper but since they aren't available seperately i had to purchase the entire kit. This was the first time I fixed a toilet and it was an easy task. Finding out which part I needed was the most difficult task but I could have just called Kohler first and saved myself a lot of time and effort. Kohler had great customer service. I has happy to find this part on Amazon.

Leave Installation to the professionals!
May I start this review by saying we have Koehler toilets and sinks in all four of our bathrooms. One toilet had a constant leak that replacing the rubber flange did not fix. We really like this toilet and the color matches the sink so I decided to replace all the “guts” and start from scratch... Good idea until I tried to get the piece to turn and lock in place for 45 minutes until my fingers hurt. I finally had to call a plumber and he spent 20 minutes struggling before getting it connected. This is not the fault of this part. Koehler design is to blame. On-line many people complain it is a terrible design. The installation instructions I found on-line (nothing came with this part), says not to use any type of adhesive to connect this part to the toilet but when I removed the original part to replace it with this new one, the old part and the toilet where it was seated were covered with some type adhesive. This is how it came from the factory.. I had to remove a lot of adhesive from the toilet to be able to get a smooth seal for this new part. This is a 25 year old toilet. I trust new Koehler toilets do not have this design problem. It cost me $175 to pay a plumber to install it. So understand, if you need to replace this part on an older Koehler toilet, expect to pay a plumber to install it.

Found the trick
This is a pain to install as many others have noted. If you try to line up all three tabs and press down, it doesn't work. I found that by pressing the back two tabs in and compressing the gasket, I could then get the front tab to slide in, so I could then rotate the assembly to seal. Try it once with out the gasket to get a feel for it.

Just change the whole thing
I had tried in vain to get a replacement flapper. Even though the flappers were specified to fit they did not. Some not even close. After 3failed attempts I purchased the assembly. It was installed in about 5 minutes without issue and worked perfectly. In addition after removing the original assembly I discovered the foam rubber gasket at the base of the riser was rotten, leaking and needed to be replaced too. The cost of the assembly was less than the cost of the parts, faster to install and most important, solved the problem.

It works if you follow the directions, especially as they apply to the sponge-ring-washer orientation
Follow the instructions, particularly those on which side of the large sponge-like washer to have facing up. What is intuitive (or might be intuitive) relative to what you think is right for that washer is wrong. Then pay attention how to insert this assembly relative to the triad of spurs that hold it in place, the force to push it fully down (more force than you might think compressing that sponge-washer), and finally the clocking (rotating) to where it holds in place. Those little triangle feet and the compressed sponge-washer hold this puppy in place pretty firmly if you get it right. Obviously for it to end up in the right position after rotation you have to shove it in so that when you clock (rotate) it, it locks pointed in the desired position. Done properly what seems at the beginning like a mickey mouse attachment is actually fairly simple and strong design. Do not coat the sponge-washer with anything. Hint: In my opinion depending on your water type (mineral/chemical content) this sponge is only good for one go-round, do not try to reuse it. The plastic housing could last a lifetime, the flapper may need replacement at some point, but absolutely replace the sponge anytime you have had to handle, move, or remove this assembly. The sponge-washer works because of it's compression when new, but it tends to hold that compressed position and for that reason re-use is ill-advised.

Good fit and does not leak
Kohler toilets at not like other toilets. They need their own parts. Good I good I could order one. It is a little bit hard to install. I cleaned the tank first. Then wet the sponge and tank. per instructions. Pushed and twisted with both hands and got a secure attachment.
