1222 rebuild kit
For being a Moen part assembly. I was surprised that the O-rings that go on the inside shaft are too big. The ID is way too big. When inserting into the outside plastic shell, had to be real careful at each outer shell opening to carefully work the O-ring into the next chamber. I was expecting the O-rings to be snug to the shaft and have an interference fit to the inside of the outer plastic cartridge body. IMO the wrong O-rings are provided for the inner shaft.

Thank you Moen:-)

Mispackaged
Kit was supposed to come with 1 small o-ring, 3 medium, and 1 large. Instead, it came with 3-small, 1 medium, and 1 large. All other items are good, correct. Can't use it for complete rebuild. Updated from 1 star to 4 stars. I contacted Moen through their Amazon store after recieving the mispacked kit and they sent me a new kit the following day. Very responsive!

Does the job for a while.
Overall it does the job. However the rubber seal gets dry rotted after a few months, so it not that long lasting.

Some assembly required. More assembly required. Spare washers would've helped.
So I finally needed to use this kit. Nevermind that I had such a hard time taking apart my existing cartridge that I had to cut apart the plastic body and break two of the old washers. During assembly of this device, I found that the washers are very slightly larger than the nest where they needed to fit. As a result, when attempting to assemble the unit, the washers kept bunching and popping out crevices of the plastic body. In order to get the assembly back together, I had to keep tucking the washers back in and praying that they wouldn't bulge again when I finally managed to get the core to move further into the plastic body. End result, I accidentally severed two of the three identical mid-size washers. Yes, the brand new washers that came with the plastic body were such a bad fit that two of them were sliced into pieces by the plastic body they needed to fit inside. In the process of trying to rescue it, the drops of lubricant (applied per instructions) spread all over the entire unit, my hands, and my tools. Note that the kit includes instructions, which are designed for multiple model handles as well as covering both a complete replacement cartridge and the repair kit. Most of the instructions are pictures only, with no zoom-in bubbles to show important tiny details, and tell you to jump around the page several times. You don't find some of the information you need until after you need it. Reading the whole thing in advance isn't viable unless you are already familiar with the hardware and process, which nearly defeats the purpose of having instructions. Lucky for me, after all the problems, and the resulting assembly being short a washer (because I couldn't find out what washers to buy in order to have extras on hand), it does seem to actually work and not leak. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet, and may need to update this review once I do. But I turned on the water to the house, and confirmed that I can run cold water, hot water, then turn it off again, with nearly no resistance moving the handle (which worries me a bit). I needed this kit in the first place because my prior cartridge developed so much resistance I couldn't turn the water off (my first thought was a bunched-up or degraded washer but there was no sign of either issue when I took it apart), so at least in the short term this kit fixed what I needed it to fix.

Take your time with the rebuild, the new parts will work fine.
The o-rings and the new housing are exact replacements for the 1222 or 1222B (same) Moen cartridge. The o-rings are the exact same size as the originals. When removing my old valve from the housing I sheared off 2 of the old o-rings. Be very careful when re-installing after the rebuild. Let the new o-rings relax after you slide them into place. Use plenty of the provided silicone grease inside the new housing and on all 4 internal rubber o-rings. The key is to take your time when sliding the valve into the housing. The o-rings will want to get hung up in the hot and cold round inlets (holes) of the housing as the valve is being installed. You will need to push the o-rings back into the housing if they tend to bulge out as you install the valve. Twisting the valve as you slowly push it into the housing will help. Take your time and do not rush this process. It's not easy, but also not impossible.

Inexpensive fix for a pricey valve
The kit had all of the right valve parts, but the plastic throw-away "wrench" tool used to extract the cartridge from the housing was for a different cartridge. I had the proper wrench which I'd kept from the last time I re-built this valve (I get about a year of drip-free use per rebuild), so it wasn't a big deal. Even if you hadn't kept the old wrench though, the temperature control retaining screw can be threaded into the end of the cartridge stem. The screw can then be carefully gripped with pliers and the cartridge pulled from the housing. Gripping the cartridge stem directly can raise burrs which could tear the outer o-ring seal during reassembly. The instructions are mostly sequentially numbered line drawing pictures/cartoons, with a few words for clarification. The text was at least tri-lingual (English, French and Spanish?), maybe more. The directions are easier to follow than any plastic model I ever built as a kid, so if you are at all mechanically inclined and/or persistent, you should have little difficulty rebuilding the valve. A tip: remove the farthest o-ring on the cartridge core first, then the next farthest, rolling them over the nearer o-rings still in their grooves. That way, you don't have to pick the o-rings out of each groove in passing on your way to the end of the valve cartridge. Then, replace the nearest o-ring first, then the next, and finally the farthest, again using the o-rings already installed to help you "skip" over the intervening grooves. Save some money, fix it yourself!

Did the job
Had to replace a tap because it was plugged and ordered this kit to rebuild it. Worked well. O rings can be tricky to replace.

hard to install and ridiculous price raise
The kit is hard to install, because the seals get stuck when you push the metal piece into the plastic piece. It's better to come with a tool. I bought this kit last November, for CAD 22.62. In less than 6 months the price changed to CAD 29.65, that's more than 30% raise.

perfect replacement part
Same part as the original. After installing the 0 rings on the inside part of the valve, be very careful so you don't damage any 0 ring, when pushing the inside part in the outer cylinder.

This is the second kit I bough, the first I used to fix the old one I have and it is nice to have spare parts for when it breaks again
