Works for me...
I installed it in a 1991 Mercruiser 4.3 Wellcraft Eclipse. For me, it was the purple wire on the ignition switch. Just wire it so the purple wire goes to one of the prongs on the kill switch, and then from the opposite prong back to the ignition switch. Basically I interrupt current flow through the purple wire when the kill switch is activated. The engine shuts off immediately. Easy.

It's a kill switch. Very important safety equipment.
It's a kill switch. It was easy to install to replace the Evinrude OEM one. It can either be set to open or closed based on the electrical connectors used. So far its still working after a few months.

Simple and basic
It does what its supposed to do. The only way it could be improved on is if the terminals were marked N-O for normally open or N-C for normally closed. Not a deal breaker since my ohm meter is readily available.

DIY Kayak Trolling Motor Kill Switch
Works as expected. It's red just like the product picture. But, I couldn't use it right away. Not sure why I was thinking that I could directly connect the kill switch to the trolling motor. But, when I tried it, it blew a fuse immediately. What was needed was a continuous duty solenoid, battery isolator, or relay that will control the power to the trolling motor, and the kill switch will simply control the relay. I got an inexpensive battery isolator and once hooked up to the kill switch, it did what it said it will. Killed the power when the lanyard was pulled out. Battery --> Bat. Isolator --> Trolling Motor | | | --- fuse box -- | ---> kill switch (Magneto)

Works fantastic in a 1970s Merc 9.8hp, 110
I bought this out of desperation - a factory replacement switch that's an actual Mercury kill switch is listed at over $50, and labor to install was $80/hour....for a painfully simple switch, and install. That's just dumb. I'm relatively mechanically capable, so I found this on line, it arrived within a few days, and installed relatively easy with the 9.8 Mercury 110 (model) when it was still hanging on the boat. The only difficult part was to ensure the (single) wire from the engine crank (energized "mag" wire) was placed onto the correct post on the switch, and because the old Merc used the old switch design as the "ground", I had to make a short "ground jumper" to add to the switch and then simply screw it into an existing screw located on the engine cowling so a ground was in place for the switch to work. Bottom line = great switch so far. Relatively easy to install. 1/10th the price of having someone else do it at a real shop. Good stuff.
