Does it's job
It's a fish filter. It does it's job. Why the hell it is inset in the bottom of the tank and not through the middle of the tube or something I don't know. It is a pain in the arse to keep the rocks out and get the base snapped back in. And if you have a planted tank, which is hard but doable, it's really hard to see and make sure you aren't hurting any of your animals. If the base portion was a little higher or the bottom half of the tub instead of the base it would be easier and just as effective.

I put it on “monthly subscription”
After neglecting my aquarium with inconsistent maintenance and occasional over feeding, I put this on subscription to remind me when it is time to take care of my finned friends. After just two months, my aquarium is about 1/3 as nasty as when I started. (Seriously, I suddenly realized that my fish would be perfectly justified if they died on me, though they didn’t. They deserve so much better!) Once I had all the tools in place, it takes me less than 10 minutes to get the replacement water ready the day before, +3 minutes to change the filter and another 15 to “vacuum” and change the water. I’m going to be a much better keeper from now on.

Full Brand Name Kit x3
It was not clear what this kit included or didn’t include and I was reluctant to purchase if this only included the sponges ( similar to some third parties that don’t include the charcoal) but this kit was better than expected for the price! Actual biorb brand so you don’t have to worry about fit or function. Includes water clarifier as well. These replacements are pricy but I find even with 10 fish in the tank I only need to do an 1/8th of a tank water change every 2-3 weeks as long as the filter ( and carbon) is changed out every 6 months or so. To me the time saved in tank maintenance is worth the 5-10$ extra it costs to buy the set. Scrub pads work great. Wish there were more but they can be used a couple times. Water clarifier, honestly not much value added ( especially if you do water changes regularly). But if you find that you stir something up when you move decor or catch a fish this will clear it up quickly. Packets for water treatment are ok. Care with concentration. It has put a fish into shock once because it hadn’t mixed in well enough.

Easy change!
From this photo that biOrb supplied I had no idea what was in this package. Im writing this review today to help my fellow biOrb friends understand that this is what you replace the bottom filter with every 4 months. I actually had such a difficult time understanding where the filter was for this tank and even had to google it. So let me save you the time and explain how to change the filter! This is the first time I'm changing this myself due to I bought my tank used. You simply twist out the bubble piece and the whole tube comes out with the filter attached at the bottom. This was the EASIEST filter change I've ever had to do. Once you have the tube off you once again twist the bottom piece to the right and the old filter comes off. Throw that away and the new one twists on. Put it back in the tank and allow the water to fill and then simply twist to the right and you are all set to go!! I love this tank and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have included a few photos to show what comes with the package and what it looks like. I also recommend the Ceramic Media for your tank! See my other reviews for additional info!

Was just as expected. This kit has everything you need for completing a water change and really makes aquarium up-keep seem simple and easy. The kit contains a cloth for cleaning the aquarium walls and I love it! If it wasn't for the higher cost of this filter (although maybe worth it for ease of use) as compared to other aquarium filter refills, I would probably buy a new service kit for every water change. Instead, I bought one service kit/filter cartridge in addition to the filter cartridge I received with the aquarium. I rotate between the two filter cartridges by disposing of the old carbon and rinsing off all the filter components. I then bought some fresh active carbon and zeolite that I use to refill the cartridges. I have only performed 3 water changes so I have not been using this system long. I expect in time I will purchase more of these service kits as the sponges wear out. As a side note, I have been able to reuse the cleaning cloth twice now by rinsing and air drying it between water changes. I also bought a separate bottle of water conditioner. However, this kit contains all the water conditioner you need so if you buy a new service kit for each water change you are good to go.

Easy to Use
I think its nice that is easy to just pop out the old filter and twist on the new one. I dont use the Biorb water conditioner or booster, so i do not have any thoughts on if it hurts fish like other reviews mention..but i prefer imagitarium brand water conditioner and biological booster from the petshop..works perfectly. Biorbs seem to get dirty fast if you over feed fish too so Id be mindful of that. Great value will keep buying

DO NOT BUY BIO TANK!!!!!
I can’t stress to you enough how much stress this tank has caused me. First of all, you have limited access because most of the top is sealed. Looked cool at first but as far as function, it a nightmare. I used mine for saltwater fish and it caused problems after problem. The filter is the absolute worst. You will pretty much need to change it every week. Pump got clogged or something and wasn’t functioning at full power and killed my puffer fish. I was very much attached to that fish. I purchased another larger tank but it takes a month for it to fully cycle. I’m in my third week and I can’t wait to move the remaining fish over. I purchased a tank with stand brand new from petsmart that’s 24 gallons larger and glass for half of what I paid for this stupid ass biojunk. It didn’t come with pump but I went out and purchased an amazing pump for 140 and the new tank is a million times better. Please do yourself a favor and stay clear from the product. It’s junk. The only reason I’m stuck purchasing filters for it is because the new tank hasn’t finished cycling. Like I said, I will need to change the filter every week. The thing is absolute garbage.

Does the job
After buying these things religiously for years when they needed replacing, ive been informed I can jusr wash them out and reuse them by my local pet store. Fish are still alive and well after one year with the same filter that's been cleaned out in cold water.

Essential biOrb Purchase But How Often You Need To Change Will Vary...
Pretty much a given that you will have to buy this if you have biOrb, there are other brands out there that make them slightly cheaper and I know some purists like to make the filler and so on themselves but for ease at least for now I have just stuck with this. In pack is obviously the filter cartridge, cleaning wipe and a sachet of water conditioner and bio booster. There are wide ranging opinions on how often you need to change the filter and biOrb from memory say every 4-6 weeks which many dispute, personally I'm on the fence. I think it ultimately comes down to the type of fish you stock and most importantly how many. Though in my honest opinion I'm not convinced the biOrb filtration is as good as it should be and so I perform water changes weekly (15-25%) and change the filter every 6-8 weeks. I keep about a third of the old sponge though for bacteria purposes. This rotation seems to keep the fish happy and my ammonia levels etc. just about in check. I keep the conditioner and bio boosters for emergencies but don't use them, I stick with the Fluval products which I feel a little more reassured in using. I also haven't used the cleaning wipes as my biOrb does seem to be keeping quite clean as I do keep on top of it as much as possible and I am hesitant to start scrubbing the acrylic because it is notorious for scratching. Overall no complaints, wether you consider it an expensive ongoing cost is debatable I probably don't begrudge £6-£7 every 6-8 weeks and you can buy multi packs which are a little more cost effective.

Good quality, works a treat, but just too pricey in the long term.
I've been using these biOrb service kits for a couple of years now. There is no arguing with the fact that they are a good product. They are very good quality and I can see the difference when I use these originals compared to when I use 'compatible' sets (where you replace only the sponge and media). This contains a straight-swap kit with a complete plastic base, plastic grid for the filter media, and sponge. There is also an algae wipe, and a set of water-conditioner/bio-additive too. I tend not to use the algae wipe, as the snails in my tank do a good job of keeping on top of that. Likewise, I've now settled into using other branded products for conditioning my water, so I don't use the sachets either. Still, nice to have, but I worry that this is just bumping up the cost. And that's my only real issue with this. Bear in mind you're replacing this every three to four weeks or so. That adds up over a year or two. This is why I tend to use this together with the compatible sets, using this when the soft plastic from the filter starts to get a bit tired looking and doesn't respond to cleaning as well as it did. I suppose I shouldn't complain - if I wanted cheap, I wouldn't have bought a biOrb! Thanks for reading.

Great product
Bought as a replacement for my one in the bio orb . Easy to fit and clean when needed. Comes with solutions to add to tap water and a cloth to clean glass on orb . Good value for money.

Does the job, though stones can pour everywhere.
Standard Biorb service kit which does the job to filter the water. The filter is effective. I only wish it were all sealed since the foam can fall out and the stones go everywhere if you don't handle it carefully. This is easy to forget. I'ves spilt two of them in the sink. With that aside, a necessary and reliable component of the Biorb tank!
