Excellent product, although a little pricey
I bought these when I replaced my landscape lights and used 10G wire, but it turns out that the connectors on the lights fit the wire with no problem, so I only ended up using 4 nuts. I had bought 2 packs :'-( The ones that I did use were excellent! I had to splice (3) 10G wires and (1) 18G wire together near a small goldfish pond (read, moist soil), and this fit perfectly and screwed on nice and tight. The caulk on the inside sealed them up perfectly, so even after burying them in the wet soil there was no voltage drop. As others said, the caulk is SUPER sticky!! After I screwed each one on, though, I picked up some dirt and rubbed it in to my hands; that worked fine to remove the stickiness, and washed off later with no problem. I kind of think that I could have saved some money by using regular wire nuts and just squirting silicone caulk in it before screwing in the wire, but I'm not positive it would have been the same. These were good for the job, though, I just wish that I would have realized that I had overpurchased earlier so I could at least return one of the packs.

Unique Product but One Size Doesn't Fit All, Better Documentation Needed
After splicing a light sensor (Greenfield DPPS Weatherproof Electrical, Dusk to Dawn Photosensor) into the power cable of an outdoor post lamp, I decided that conventional wire nuts were not up to the task given the location's exposure to the elements. So after the install, I purchased these weatherproof wire connectors to replace the conventional wire nuts that I initially used. Unfortunately, I didn't know at the time of purchase they were too large for the application. If I understand the product description correctly, these wire connectors should fit to 22 and 8 gauge wire. Given the large size, I would say this is unrealistic as they are awkwardly large for anything thinner than 14 gauge wire. More importantly, however, is that they are so large as to interfere with space/length limitation of the particular application -- 1.350 inches long and 0.64 inches in diameter. By comparison, conventional 22-16 wire nuts are 0.7 inches long and 0.39 inches in diameter. Conventional 18-10 wires nuts are 1.0 inches long and 0.63 inches in diameter. In my case, the wires were already cut to size for the conventional wire nuts, so they all were too short to employ these connectors. But this wasn't the only problem. The white silicone sealant contained within the connectors serves to lock out moisture. While this seems to be a good design element, it creates a problem when wires have to be removed for any reason. While not an adhesive per se, it sticks to both wires and skin. At the same time, the silicone spreads out so the individual copper strands get coated with the material. This causes some concern because it isn't clear if the silicone will ultimately interfere with the conductivity between the wires of the final connection. It would be helpful if the manufacture described the properties of the silicone compound in detail. Perfect Nd versatile
Great product. They are serious in the I structures however, don't reuse. They do get slippery. They don't fit 20 Guage very easily but anything 16 and under is perfect.

I have a radio fence with 12 gauge solid copper core wire that leaks signal and electrical tape was not working to fix it. In consultation with the manufacturer of the fence (SportDog AKA Radiofence), I am eliminating all problematic stretches of frayed wire by cutting them out and joining the cut ends with these wire nuts. I am pleased that they give a secure connection that is waterproofed with the silicone gel. I did not have a problem with the gel squirting all over that other people have reported. (I also like the Klein wire cutters in the picture that I used to cut and strip the wire; it had no problem with removing the insulation while the Dowell wire cutters that I had tried before had failed.) Doubling the wire over and binding the loop with electrical tape prevents the connector from coming under any strain.

Works as intended
Used these for an outdoor, waterproof junction box. The Gel coating for water sealing is pretty generous and the springs seem to be of decent quality. Out of 5 of these I used in my project, 1 of them did just drop out it's spring when I gave it a "Tug" test. The other 4 held strong.

Works exactly like it should!
Last summer I used these to wire a few landscape lights that my garner accidentally cut the wire. They have held up perfectly. I just had to rewire about 5 lights moving them around my yard and used these again. They are so easy to use and you can tell that they would be waterproof. I still wrapped the wires in electric tape to be sure. They work so well, I just HAD to come and write a positive review!

Arrived as ordered.
Firstly, when I received the original shipment from Amazon it was a very large rectangular package much too heavy and large for a small bag of marretts. Eneded up being a cookie sheet for making square cookies. As much as I like cookies (any shape) I returned the package as it won't help me do my outdoor wiring (other than supplying calories which I really don't need). When I contacted Amazon they right away sent me the proper order, which arrived a few days later, exactly what I needed. The baking pan should be on it's way home back to Amazon soon. :)

I received the connectors and gave them a rating of 4 out of 5 based upon how they looked and imagining how they would perform. The thing is that I bought these in preparation for doing some more outdoor wiring come the spring when I intend to add some more lights to my outdoor garden and seating area. Come the spring after trying these wire connectors I would be more than happy to comment further on how they perform.
