Love the Look - But With Caveats

Product seems to give off a good amount of light with a 4000k temp 100w equivalent LED vintage look bulb. Great upgrade aesthetically over the old Victorian style frosted globe fixtures. However, I would agree with some others that putting each individual seeded glass panes in was a pain and installing the mounting balls was a hassle too because once the fixture is flush against the ceiling, it’s hard to maneuver your hand up there beside the bulb stem. I held the fixture against the ceiling and my wife installed the mounting balls but not without difficulty. These tiny star washers are given to presumably help the ball fit against the bottom of the ceiling mount but they tend to want to fall off as you’re trying to install the ball. I think they’re mostly unnecessary and if they were deemed necessary, could’ve simply been permanently attached to the mounting ball. One could prob use a tiny amount of super glue or epoxy to make the star washer and mounting ball one piece and render installation easier. I do love the seeded glass and that the fixture I purchased came with a copper grounding wire which was nice since my feed from the box had a grounding wire to attach it and ground to the box. I bought two fixtures and the price was very good. I think they’ll last well given I’m using them in an interior setting. Otherwise, I’d question the use of a flush mount like this outside if moisture from above would be an issue. Wish the bulb stem was about an inch shorter as my larger antique led bulbs protrude from the bottom slightly, but I’ll deal. Also like that above the fixture is an insulated pad though it does make feeding the mounting screws through a bit tougher. In conclusion, I think the fixture is a good value, but I’d gladly pay $10-20 more to purchase an already assembled seeded glass fixture and save some time and worry that the glass panes would break on installation.

The fixture is good. Installing it was a bit tricky. I have smaller hands, which allowed me to get into it to screw it in (there are 2 screws inside to secure it to the ceiling mount). I'm not sure if I missed something, but I will say that installation was a bit more finicky than anticipated. That said, now that it's in, it looks great.

Buy something else

Low quality even for the price. The desgin requires assembly of the lantern AFTER you install the base. So on a ladder working upside down you have to hold all four glass pieces plus the frame together and use thumbscrews that I might add do not have enough thread to bite. I devised a way to put them together at a table and then modify a hand tool to hold the round mounting nuts with long foreceps. All that aside the second one could not be assembled due to the thread / screw issue. Already broke an existing one trying to put the old stuff back and try to return these so im canning it all and buying something else.

Nice outside light

I would have given it five stars but the screws for it are on the top, in the corners and were kind of hard to access. Looks great though once it is up.

Fine for the price

Perfect for the tiny space on our porch. It's a little flimsy but fine for the price. Besides, I doubt anyone will look up while they're at the door.

I’m very pleased with this purchase. The fixture is just the right size for my small back porch, and the rain glass is a nice touch. I’d buy this again.
