Max Weight Should be Listed as Max Force, Too Loud for Me, But Otherwise Good Quality
I'm not writing to complain about this product, as I think it is generally well made and will suit a lot of people's needs, but it doesn't suit mine, and I'm hoping my explanation can save some others some time. Particularly, you can't just weigh an object and expect it to work if it is even half of 8 oz, 225g. (TL;DR: It's not strong enough to hold a 100g/3.5oz object without pulling the chain out on every step, despite the 8 oz rating.) They rate it at 8oz (Ounces? Really?). Anyway, that's about 222 Newtons of force (FYI, the Ounce is not strictly a measurement of mass, but force). So this is the Force that a roughly 225g object applies to a table top when just sitting still, as such, you might think if your device/keys weigh in at under 225g (~8oz), that it will work. But this rating is the force the retractor can resist before the chain gets pulled out. So, on each step, you're going to increase the force applied by a factor of 2-4x. As such, my 100g handset applies enough force to pull the chain out 5-10 cm or so on every step. Couple this with the noise of the chain, and it's downright annoying. As alluded to, the chain type is loud. If you care about hearing a zipper-like noise when you pull it out, get the kevlar one. It hangs down quite a lot compared to the classic design. I attached a dog training collar handset (eCollar ET-300) to it, and the whole ensemble almost reaches my knee, so this means it swings wildly while I walk. Not a fault of the design, just a reality of it. I don't always wear a belt, so I wanted one that would hook to my belt loop. I just wish the overall length could be minimized. Lastly, the supplied keyring is a little too thick for the eyelet in the coupler it is attached to, so it binds a lot, causing the suspended object to get a little kinked up, which results in it hanging cockeyed. This all sound terrible, but this will probably be perfect for a lot of applications.

Year + going on strong
I use this retractable key fob daily, dozen times a day. Chain, spring, plastic body, and clip all still sturdy and aren’t showing any signs of wear

My job involves travelling to many different jobs, working out of a van. This means several trips to and from the vehicle as well as getting into several different compartments on any given day. All of these doors and compartments are locked. The retractable nature of this key holder works amazingly well to make this process seamless and more efficient. No more having to dig in pockets for keys or unclipping them off of my belt! I've had two of these products and in both instances, the retractable chain held up well over the course of several months. There was some loss in the tension when fully retracted, especially with more keys on the chain, but it wasn't unbearable. I should also mention that it took a few months for the loss of tension to occur, so your miles may vary. Every other aspect of the product fulfills its purpose with one exception: The carabiner clip has broken for me in both instances. While unfortunate, you can easily put another more durable clip on, and still have the main functionality of the product intact. Overall, I'd recommend this product to everyone, with the exception of those who have to carry a ton of keys. While it may still work for you, I had to lighten my key load to keep it from hanging too low (Specifically when walking, where it would drop then retract with every stride).

Not a Kevlar cord, but a chain cord of of some sort
Seems less sturdy of a chain than the original Kevlar.

It's big, definitely big
I purchased the chain version of the Key-Bak Secureit and when I opened the package, I realized just how long it is when you clip it to your pants belt loop and attached a few keys to it. What I've done to make it not so obvious is to put it on my hip and stick the keys into my pants pocket. The metal chain is just like your old school retractable key chains with that classic sound when you pull it out and pull it back in, and has great retraction strength to pull your key ring completely back; no sluggishness when retracting too. Just to add, the key ring is a little bit big (1 1/8th diameter); you should have some other size rings handy.

Strong Product
Slightly larger than I was hoping for but with the woven chain extension, the durability seems very reliable.

Needs a better belt attachment but overall this is the best Key-Bak model after modification.
I don't like the included carabiner so I swapped it out with a belt clip and quick detach ring that brings the Key-Bak closer to beltline. The plastic housing is significantly tougher than the metal housing variants which I have broken several of rolling on them. The chain is smoother and less likely to bind than the kevlar cord.

Love the lock feature
Have to be careful you can get cut if you hold onto the wire while adjusting the height
