Almost Perfect
Five stars for set up. Five stars for heating. 3 1/2 stars for the cushion. Zero stars for the hood. Buy the unhooded bed. This is my second heated bed by this company. The first one was purchased many years ago for an elderly arthritic cat. He was losing body mass and having a hard time getting warm and he loved this bed. Fast forward to the present. I have a different elderly cat who is tiny and has been losing weight as she ages. To keep her body mass up, we pulled the bed out of storage and set it up. Wallah! A new problem arose… my two young, boisterous boys love themselves as the new owners of that bed. So, I purchased the second one but I bought the one with the hood because all my cats enjoy the non heated hooded bands best. It took less than five minutes out of the box before it was occupied. There is really no set up other than zipping the hood in place and plugging it in. But, the hood does not stay over the bed. They designed the hood with a sturdy metal rod in it to keep its shape except that the hood doesn’t hang over far enough for that rod to keep it “afloat.” It simply goes pluft right back down to the side. So, it’s useless. No amount of fussing with it has gotten it to stay up. My only other complaint is that the actual floor of the bed is lumpy. Instead of a nice round soft cushion, there are two lumps of stuffing with a depression in the middle. Not the most comfortable although my boys are big guys and it doesn’t seem to bother them too much. I’m hoping the lumps will even out and become more uniform.

A Warm Winner!
I have to say, I was worried about three things when I bought this heated cat bed. 1) Would it be too hot? 2) Would my cat like it? 3) Did I get the wrong size? (20") 1) The bed does NOT get too hot. It heats to the normal body temperature of a cat. So when you plug it in and give it 20 minutes, place your hand on the pillow FIRMLY and let it set there a minute, you will feel the warmth. In other words, with your cat's body weight being on it, the heat will be apparent. You just won't feel it if you place your hand on the pillow for a second, like you would a regular heating pad. Remember too, that the heating pad element is under the pillow in the bed. 2. The day the bed arrived, my cat stepped in it, and immediately hopped out. I was thinking, "Oh no! Another dud. Maybe it's not warm enough to attract her to it." My cat normally lives ON me... like if I'm sitting down, and I almost always am, she's on me. I purchased the bed because I feel badly for her when I'm out, and doesn't have the comfort of at least my body heat. I had to do a lot of cleaning. Gertie (my cat) kept coming over trying to get me to sit. I could see she was pretty peeved after a couple of hours of this, and it was past her bedtime. With that, all of a sudden, she climbed into the bed and went to sleep! I was thrilled! Then I wondered if it was just a fluke, never to happen again.. but nope, no fluke. After that, she has chosen to sleep in it many times, when she could've just climbed on my lap like usual. This is not to say, btw, that I have been entirely replaced, lol. Just partially...and it's actually a good thing. It frees me up to get up to do something without guilt for having making her get off of me. I know now she's still happy and warm when I get up. 3) Gertie, for the most part, sleeps in a ball, but does occasionally also sleep stretched out. I probably should have measured her length, but figured I'd just guess and need the 20" for those stretched out times. Since she usually sleeps in a ball though, I was a little worried that the smaller size could be better though.. more cozy, ya know? I got the 20", and it's definitely the size I would get if your kitteh ever loves to stretch out. It's not confing in the least. When curled up, she is several inches away from the sides (unless she's off-center and laying against the side), but it doesn't seem to bother her. A few more thoughts... Safety. I was also concerned that when it's plugged in, it's always on. After seeing it in use however, I'm not so concerned. It just doesn't get warm enough to cause an issue, I think. I'm no fire marshal, so it's just my gut saying that. I had just purchased a Ring indoor camera, so I thought that would give me extra peace of mind for when I wasn't home. Also, I am thinking that if I plug this into a smart plug, I will have the ability to turn it on and off. The hood. I wasn't sure whether she'd like it or hate it. Luckily, it zips on or off easily. Gertie likes to climb in and umder things, so I tried it first with the hood, and later without. She seems to like the hood ON better. Don't worry that it could be too confining or claustrophobic. It's not like that at all. It's just enough that probably makes it feel a little more of a safe place for her to sleep than anything else. So if you're trying to find the right heated cat bed for your kitteh, I would recommend giving this one a go. I'm so glad I did. If Gertie spoke English, I'd imagine she would say, "Momma ae lubs dis ting! Fank yew sew much!"

My cat loves it
Bought it for my elderly cat who sleeps most of the day and from day one he fell in love with it and doesn’t sleep no where else

It's a good, warm bed.
I was 19 and I had neighbors living under me. A young couple that had recently had a child. Returning home one day a small black and white kitten tried to climb my leg while mewling pitifully. I picked the kitten up and asked my neighbors if it was their's. The woman responded that it was and that I should put the kitten down since it was "dirty". She went on to say that if the cat was in my way I should feel free to just kick it. Needless to say; I felt bad for the cat but there was nothing I could do, it didn't belong to me. After that, however, whenever I got the chance I spent time with the kitten. Sitting on the porch, petting and caring for it whenever I saw it. Then, one night at around 2 AM, I was awoken to a loud knocking on my door. It was the woman living downstairs. She explained if I didn't take the cat she'd named Ms. Kitty the cat was going to die. I accepted the new pet despite being woefully under-prepared for such a responsibility. I remember being fairly certain "Ms. Kitty" had testicles the first time I saw the cat, now with the kitten roaming around my apartment, I became positive that was the case despite my neighbor's assurances the cat was fixed and female. Taking "Ms. Kitty" to the veterinarian I asked just to make sure I wasn't stupid and the vet informed me that yes... Those were fuzzy little cat balls. "Ms. Kitty" was renamed Circuit and I left him in the care of the vet so he wouldn't sire any heirs should he ever get out. Returning the next morning the veterinarian informed me he had never seen a cat that acted like Circuit. Crazed to the point of seeming feral whenever I was out of the room then complacent and sweet the second I scooped him up. He stated his firm belief someone had tried to kill this cat at some point... I was just happy they hadn't succeeded. I suffer from crippling depression. Confirmed and diagnosed. The majority of my 20's was spent learning how to manage said depression, learning how to take care of myself, learning to be an adult. I'm ashamed to say there were long stretches of time when Circuit's litter box went uncleaned and food dish went unfilled as I struggled just to take care of myself and keep a roof over our heads. The act of sustaining one's self being a skill everyone else had perfected and I seemed to fail miserably at, at times. Isolation, days spent unable to get out of bed. Loathing myself, hating my life, I was in no condition to care for myself let alone care for another living creature. Still, Circuit was there through it all. Loving to me and only me. Circuit and I were very similar. We hated the outside world. For long stretches of time he wasn't just my best friend but my only friend. Weeks, perhaps months would go by with Circuit being the only other living creature I interacted with. Both of us huddled in our home safe from the awful world outside. Eventually, as I learned to stop the endless cycles of self hatred, I started to pick myself up. Went to trade school got a job, slowly started to learn what it meant to be an adult. I started my thirties before Circuit finally had his litter box consistently cleaned but I finally disciplined myself to doing just that. I started cleaning up after the two of us and building a real home for the two of us. A place we could both be comfortable and happy. Finally, last month, at the age of 34, with Circuit being 15, I bought this bed and Circuit loved it immediately. I'd find him sleeping in it before I left for work in the morning and when I got home in the evening he'd curl up with me in bed. ...For a few days... Then one day I came home during lunch to find Circuit laying on the floor not moving. I'd spotted him like this before, likely on the hunt for a cricket or some other poor small creature. Reaching down to pet him I felt his cold fur and knew my friend had passed away. I don't think this pain will ever stop. It hurts so bad and all I can do is let it. I miss my friend so much I'm tempted to get a new cat but I know, no matter what, it just wont be the same. Circuit was special. He was like me. He'd been hurt and hated the world for it. I was the only one he loved, the only one he could ever accept. We understood each other. Two bitter and angry creatures bonded to each other in ways only wounded animals can be. If I got a new kitten it would be loved, cherished, and happy. It wouldn't know what pain is. Not like me and Circuit. Circuit didn't get much use out of this bed but he loved it for the short time he had it. So I'm very happy I got it. Thank you for reading my review.

Not suitable for use in the UK
Bed cannot be used in the UK as it came with a two-pin electric plug and can only be used with 120V electrical supply. This wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the info so I assumed the bed would be OK for use in the UK. Very disappointed.

Cat loves it!
The best purchase ever for my 16 years old cat. As soon as I took the bed out of the box, the cat got inside ("Test your product" :-) ) and that was it. - Now he spends there all day and all night. We have very cold winters, so the gentle heat of this bed was a real treat for the old bones. My cat is very big (16 lbs), and he fits comfortably in size L - 20 in. I had to take the top off after a few days as my cat took to going into this bed for grooming as well - sitting tall he did not fit under the top part and was ending up half-sitting on it. Having the top on a zipper was very convenient. The stuffing is soft (actually, it's stuffed better than a non-heated bed he had before) and the heat is well regulated - just what's needed - not too hot, not too cold. Works as advertised - heating stops when the cat goes out. In general, the product feels very safe. Highly recommend!

Needs a bigger/stronger warmer
This is a great bed, I got it on sale. It is super light! When I picked it up at the post office, I wasn't sure it was the bed...it weighed next to nothing. It seems like it is very comfortable. Very soft with lots of stuffing for the pillow. I wish the heating pad was bigger/stronger I think with all the stuffing it just can't get through all the layers for the cat to feel it. I can't feel it when I put my hand on it. Although when I unzip it and feel the pad right on my hand it is warm, not hot by any means, but warm. I understand for fire and safety they probably have to put a certain amount of layers between the heating and your cat, but I got this so my kitty will stay off the xbox and dvd player...I don't think this will make him change his mind. He is only 3months so perhaps I can do some more training and redirect his attention to the bed. I might just buy a heating pad meant for humans and see if that changes things.

Still the favorite after 3 years
I’ve had this cat bed for three years now and I couldn’t be happier with it. The warmth is just right for my senior baby. As others have mentioned, when it first arrives, you can place a pillow in the bed to feel how warm it is. After about a year of use and wear, you can feel the heat more obviously just by touching. Personally, I like this level of heat so I know there's no risk of overheating and she can spend hours in the bed at a time. In summer, she’s happy to use it as long as I unplug it, so the bed is certainly as comfortable as it is warm. The 16-inch size is a comfortable fit for small to medium-sized adult cats. TIP: If you’re having trouble getting your cat to use it, put a piece of clothing that smells like you into the bed! My senior cat never used a cat bed before and a month of treats and catnip got her paws in but didn’t get her to stay. One day I threw in a well-worn shirt on a whim. Within a few days, she slept in the bed for the first time and within the week she was using it regularly. It quickly became her favorite sleeping place, second only to laps
