Wonderful source of unfrozen water for wildlife all winter
I bought this heated water bowl to use at a 7 acre cemetery for which I am the volunteer caretaker. The cemetery is an arboretum and is a favorite of a wide variety of wildlife. I used the bowl all winter as a source of water for the wildlife and it kept the water unfrozen, even on the coldest day. The bowl is very easy to clean and the cord is extra sturdy. Because it's such a sturdy bowl, I'm continuing to use it in the warmer weather months; I simply unplugged it. What a great and reasonably priced product!

Good product!
Product is as advertised. Keeps the water from freezing outside in the winter so my dog can always have water when she is outside (she is part Husky so she loves it outside in the winter but we keep her inside much of the time).

Works for the outside kitties at minus 22F
I needed a heated bowl because it hasn't been above 30F, even in the daytime for weeks, now. I used a laser-thermometer, and the water temp was 65F when it was 10F outside temp. It has good regulation of the temp. , but there isn't a way to set it at whatever would be desired. The bowl is a sturdy stainless steel, and should hold up forever. I'm not in love with the way the cord comes out from the bowl. It could stand a conical grommet thoroughly attached to the bowl, so less strain would be placed on that part of the line-cord. The cord is wrapped with a coil of spring-wire that makes it chew-resistant, but not attached to the bowl . With daily water changes, there will be strain on the line-cord where it exits the bowl. We'll see how long it holds up. I got the stainless bowl because plastic doesn't hold up out in the summer sun and the cold weather. I've only had it for a week, so I don't know how long the electrical part will last.

Great for our chickens
Had a hard time finding just what we needed to keep water from freezing in Michigan. This was our this product - and did the trick. Really cold days this winter - fresh water was never frozen over.

Works great, good for outdoor use, keeps water warm in cold temps
This bowl was plugged in and used during freezing temps for barn cats. It kept the water warm and not hot. It really kept the cats around more during the cold days and even attracted other animals. I did not feel any hot areas that could hurt any animals as I have seen on some other bowls. I would buy this again.

Great for chickens
Kept it plugged in during the winter, snow storm, ice storm, 30 below wind chill, water stayed unfrozen. Best bowl ever.

Works great in cold weather
I live in Southeast Alaska and got this for my 4 chickens this winter. The water stayed unfrozen and this bowl held enough water for a day or 2. I did notice that as the water level got low the water tended to evaporate faster from the bowl. Overall, very happy with this purchase. It provided a great piece of mind.

Surprisingly great...
I didn't think too much of it at first, but it's been proving me wrong. I live in Quebec and winters are tough here. The bowl is in a dog enclosure outside nevertheless under a roof. But do the job very well. The water doesn't freeze and my dog can drink all day long when I'm away for work. Even at minus 30, water was accessible (just a little frost around the upper edge of the bowl). So, I recommend strongly this product, but notice that it doesn't go outside without a protection of some kind (roof). Thank you for reading !

Perfect for Southern Manitoba feral cat shelter
This is a large, heavy-ish dish, which holds a good deal of water, is important for use outside because of evaporation. It's only -8C* right now in southern Manitoba so it can't be considered cold, but the water in this bowl has not frozen. Comparatively, the water in the plastic container beside it is completely solid. Temps here get to -40* so I will update further into the season... I have no issue with the "steel wrapped cord" but be aware it is a thin coil that is wrapped around the cord, it is NOT a solid piece of steel. It absolutely could be chewed by anything with teeth - mouse to bear. There are no heating elements exposed and the dish is as simple as fill and plug in, and it's very easy to clean. I'm confident that this dish will be able to water to my feral foster cat without much shelter or fuss. Stay tuned. Update - Have used this over 2 winters where temps were -30 and a bit below for extended periods of time and -20 the rest of the time. I can confirm that a small surface area did form a thin film of ice a few times but that it never once froze all the way across the top and certainly never froze solid. Certainly makes a difference if it is sheltered a little too, although for the most part i left this out in the open.

Awesome bowl
I had bought 3 other bowl from this manufacturer, they are the green plastic ones. My dog (a lovely german shepherd) liked to chew them, or pull them until they came unplugged and would chew the cords off when home alone. I ordered this so she couldn't chew the bowl apart. I also screwed it down in place on the deck using mirror clips so she could not pull the cord from the wall. The wire wrap doesn't do much for chewers which is expected. We here in Alberta just got finished with a cold snap for a week and a half where the temp was -40 celsius with the wind chill bringing temps to -50ish celsius. The bowl never froze over completely, good size space in the middle to drink from. There was some freezing around the edges (1-2 inches all the way around) when the water was getting low but once filled it all melted again.

So far so good
It worked for the second half of the winter, after our old one died. Not too hot or cold. We use it in the breezeway for a feral who lives in the woods near us. I like to give her soft food in case her teeth are bad and dry food would hurt to chew. This managed to keep the food thawed even at -30C. It didn't have any strong plastic stink even fresh out of the box so that's reassuring. My only complaint is the way the cord reinforcement isn't attached to the bowl. You can see it in the pic so I knew to expect it. I know that the point where the cord meets the bowl is the place the cord is most likely to get a kink or other damage so I used a strong epoxy to connect the coil to the bowl, so the cord is now protected better. Of course the main reason for the coil is to prevent any risk of electrocution by chewing and it can do that fine without my modification. I still recommend the epoxy because I think it will make the bowl last longer. It's got a flat piece of plastic covering the underside which I like. My previous one is basically shaped the same underneath as it is on top, which meant it always had bugs hiding in there when I'd bring it inside to give it a deep cleaning. This stays bug free. It flares out very wide at the bottom, moreso than the previous two similar products I have had, so I think if your critter is the restless, hyper sort this would be perfect, virtually impossible to tip over. I scrub it with dish soap then rinse it with boiling water about weekly, to prevent germs building up. I had a problem awhile ago with our kibble puzzles aka slow feeders... the microscopic scratches in plastic house germs that cause cats to get chin acne. It was hard enough curing that in our house cats I don't want to have to figure out what to do with an afflicted feral (can't just ignore it as it's so itchy they claw their skin open). So please be conscientious about plastic food and water dishes. Keep them sanitized!
