Seems to be a good product, water flow a little too fast causing ...
Seems to be a good product, water flow a little too fast causing water to splash out on floor at times, need to have a way to adjust flow rate of pump. removable Impellor cover kind of flimsy, bent cover just getting it off first time, now cover fits poorly but at least it still works. seems that a part that must be removed for regular maintenance should be more durable. makes a little too much noise, cats are still skeptical about using it after 6 weeks seem to be scared of it but are finally using it, first two weeks cats would not go within 6 feet of it even when it was off, even though they had no other source of fresh water I had too put a separate bowl down for them when I came home at lunch and every evening, after 3 weeks of doing this and leaving turned off they finally drank from it, then I turned it on during day and turned it off at lunch and for a couple of hours each evening. when given no other choice they drank from it running, a couple of weeks later they will drink from it, one of three cats really seems to like it other two tolerate it. it is better than having to clean bowl daily. reservoir holds enough for 5 to 7 days at which time I clean it thoroughly and refill it. Overall I am satisfied with it and would buy another one over any of the 3 others I have tried.

IMPORTANT: Issue with updated filter pad design that causes bowl overfilling
I"ve used this water bowl for year and was very happy. However, I purchased a new one in 2022 and noticed the bowl was filling too much and spilling onto the floor at regular intervals. Turns out the filter pad shipped with the unit is much denser than the old design (see picture). So water "backs up" behind this denser filter, causing the bowl to fill too much (given the pump flow rate they chose). You can determine if this is the problem with your unit. > Compare your filter to my picture. > Also fill your bowl with water and turn on without installing the reservoir of water or the cover for the pump and filter area and watch what happens. Is the water level between the filter and pump quite low? There should only be a small drop in water level. I tried to call K&H customer service today, but no one's answering. Will try again.

The only one you need
This is the third one of these I’ve bought over the years. Not because anything was wrong, but because it’s all I need for my kitty. After a while, hard water stains and calcium deposits will build up around the rim and inside the pump. This is unavoidable and true of anything you store water in, depending on the type of tap water you have in your area. We have very “hard” water here. Still, I’ve found that I only need a new one about every three years. That’s super easy to afford. It’s easy enough to clean, and can probably be run through the dishwasher. I usually just wash it by hand with soap and the brushes provided. I don’t use soap in the pump. I usually only wash it after 3-4 fills of the reservoir. But it’s possible that if I weren’t so lazy and washed it more often, it might last longer. I replace the filter as often as needed for my cats health, which is usually after every 2 fills. You can usually tell when it’s time just by looking at it. Or just follow the recommendations in the instructions. The motor is VERY quiet, and if yours isn’t, something is wrong (see tips below). If you can’t fix it, try exchanging the whole thing for a new one. Some tips: Use filtered or bottled water. The carbon filters will filter out large things like cat hair but are somewhat porous and I doubt they clean the water effectively. If the pump is noisy, try submerging it completely underwater. Air trapped inside can affect it. If that doesn’t work, try cleaning it. After prolonged use, calcium deposits can freeze the impeller and this will cause a grinding sound as the motor struggles. Clean it and get the impeller moving again with a push from a toothpick. If nothing works, it’s time to buy another. Again, this only happened to me after three years of constant use. Stock up on filters and change them often to keep the water as clean as possible. Wash the carbon filters before use otherwise small pieces of black carbon specks will end up breaking loose into the water bowl. Get one of those pasta scooper/strainer ladles with a mesh screen. The bowl’s diameter is big and stuff will just end up in there. Stuff like your hair, your pet’s hair, or pet food. It’s easier to just scoop it out and change the carbon filter than wash the whole thing. Most of the debris will end up on the filter, but sometimes it gets trapped in the middle of the bowl and just swirls around. I hope this company continues to make these so I can keep replacing them as needed! I’ll definitely buy another in a few years once the hard water has done it’s damage. I really don’t want to try to find another type since these things are usually hit or miss. With this unit though, it’s a definite win.

Even the Fussiest Cat Uses This
My cat is strange. She'll only drink in the bathroom (not strange) from a red dish. I was skeptical that she would use this having tried PetMzte before. The noise bothered her. This really is quieter - a lot more. Despite freaking her one time by getting splashed in the face - she had to figure out exactly where to drink from - she's using it! Okay, I had to put it in the bathroom - I told you she was strange. Pros- very quiet, nice sized reserve tank that is very easy to refill and re-install, small size Cons- I actually can't think of any.

Both the bowl and reservoir are much larger on this one and I like that bowl has a stone look to it
I had previously bought a cheaper pet water fountain at Walmart and found the reservoir and drinking bowl not large enough. I had to refill it every other day for our 2 cats and a lot of the water would end up on the floor. Both the bowl and reservoir are much larger on this one and I like that bowl has a stone look to it. It's only been 24 hrs since setting it up but there's still A LOT MORE water left even though they are still drinking from it! Also there's none on the floor! Fresh filtered water for much longer without without refill or mess is awesome!! The old one is going in the garbage! This one is FAR SUPERIOR!!

Works, but be sure to examine your container for any holes first!
This was a great buy as my cat would usually tip over or rock his food dish (tried many different kinds) back and forth to see the ripples in the water before attempting to take a drink. Now, he'll just go up to it, stare for a second, and get drinking. It's saved some time in cleaning up water from the floor and prevent any wood damage that would be caused by it. Just a side note - While the product works great, mine did come with a pin sized hole that ended up causing a little spill. Not a big deal as it's an easy fix if you have a soldering iron and some food grade plastic laying around. So, be sure to examine the container carefully before plugging it in.

Great for the feline pals.
This is great for anyone who is using it because they aren't home all the time, anyone who is worried about germs and also for a multi-cat house. I bought it because I was getting annoyed at the one I bought at walmart that would get horrible grungie after like 3 days. It's great, the filter helps to keep the water clean and the reservoir is handy. One negative about it is the noise. I have it in my room, but I don't mind the noise of it so much but some people might. If you can put it somewhere where a lot of people either don't go or another part of the house where the cat(s) have access to it, then you'll be grand. Also to limit the noise, don't put against a wall or anything, it makes the motor louder. Also if it starts sputtering but there is a ton of water in the bowl but not in the reservoir, add a bit to the reservior and it will work fine. It also comes with a cleaning kit with is immensly useful! I clean mine every 2 weeks, but I didn't buy extra filters which if you can, buy right away with it. I had to pay 6$ for 1 at my local pet store. It's 9$ on amazon for 3. Wayy better price. Also deliver was great for it!

Super!
Keeps my dogs' water clean! I had a water bowl with reservoir before and the problem was the bio film. With constant movement, the biofilm does not form. Food debris also gets caught in the filter. Ive had it for a few weeks now. I clean it once a week. No problem with the pump so far.
