Not Very Giggley Ball
I am tired of reading reviews of pet toys where people rate just based on whether their dog liked it and don't actually tell you anything about the toy. I have 50-60# pit/hound mix so I ordered the large ball it's about the size of a softball maybe a little bigger. It seems to be covered in pretty thick rubber making the ball somewhat chewable but there is something hard underneath so the ball isn't squishy, maybe about a half inch of rubber. The rubber seems pretty durable my dog is a very determined and accomplished chewer (she chewed through a Kong bone in like 20 min) and that seems to be her only interest in this ball and she has made some dents but hasn't gotten through the rubber; this is partly because the ball isn't squishy so she can't really get the whole thing in her mouth to really get a good bite on it. The giggle is accomplished by something in the middle sliding from side to side, which you can hear often better than the giggle- it makes like a clunking sound, I can only get it to giggle by shaking it pretty vigorously- rolling it on the floor rarely makes a giggle. It seems like there is a tube running through the center of the ball and something slides back and forth in this tube so it has to be shaken on this axis to make the giggle. The ball is also pretty heavy but it does bounce on hard floors pretty well. Overall I am pretty disappointed by this ball my dog can't make it giggle and you can't just roll it or throw it and have it giggle at all. I shake it to get her excited and then throw it and she chases it but then quickly gets irritated when she can't make it giggle and then just starts chewing it. I was expecting for her to be able to roll it around and it would make noises, it does not do that at all. As a regular ball it's ok but a little heavy and not squishy but does seem pretty durable.

Almost everything I've bought from the JW Pet Company has been an excellent product. This one only rates 4 stars with me because of two things: one other reviewer mentioned the noise - that you have to shake it hard to get it to make the noise. I agree. The noise worked for about 2 days, then stopped. And the dog wouldn't make it giggle. A human had to. The other reason is that the shape of the ball has distorted into an almost football-shaped oval. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's certainly no longer a round ball object. Having said this, the rubber quality is great for an aggressive chewer like my German Shepherd Dog. She still plays with it but not as much as with her other JW Pet products. In particular, she likes the Tanzanian Mountain Ball and she LOVES the Tough by Good Nature Cuz. That toy is shaped like a round ball with two little feet. My god, she won't leave that toy alone! Would I say not to buy this Giggler Ball Dog Toy? No. I'd say buy it. Try it. It's not expensive and your dog will likely enjoy it.

Very hard.
I was hoping "rubber" meant like a Kong toy, but this is almost as hard as injection molded plastic. Which means I can't toss this around with my dog because I don't want to hurt him, and I can't kick it with my foot because it feels like a rock. I was looking for a softer version of the large green "giggle" balls. Oh well.

One of our favorite dog toys!
I actually ended up with 2 of these. Picked up a blue ball locally, and thought we lost it. Ordered another off Amazon for about the same price. This one from Amazon is the bigger size (I didn't know they came in different sizes). It's incredibly thick and durable. Found the smaller one and they both still make giggle noises weeks later with lots of play and drool, and after being left outside. Definitely recommend.

Durable and rugged, but needs more noisemakers
This ball is a little larger than a baseball, and is rugged and tough. It will hold up to the most avid and destructive chewer. The noise it makes is PERFECT, but there is only one whistle in it, and the whistle only works if it is shaken or rolled in just the right direction. Because the outside of the ball is textured, the whistle doesn't stay in the right position to whistle for very long. Years ago, we had something similar that was much larger - a little smaller than a soccer ball - with three or four of these whistles in it and it drove our catahoula crazy! He loved it! Would love to find something like that again but I can't seem to find anything like it on the market...was hoping this was it, but alas it is not. BUT, if you're just looking for a durable fetch/chew toy, this is great.

Firm and thick rubber "giggler" survives Malamute and Border Collie and makes them happy!
My girls ADORE these!!!!! This is the FIRST ball that my Malamute has NEVER gotten tired of, or chewed apart right away! My Bordie Collie plays "soccer" with it on her own, and can't get enough of it! It is sturdy enough for the Malamute to play with by herself, yet she will "ask" us to throw it for her to chase even after she is tired. I've NEVER had her do that before. The little designs on the ball stand out about 1/16 inch, enough to notice, but not enough to get chewed off. It is a FIRM and thick rubber ball, NOT soft, or solid, the giggler is a shaker rod inside that goes back and forth to "giggle". It didn't giggle very well after it was dropped in the water bowl, but once the water FINALLY got shaken out of it, it's giggle came back! It never had a strong giggle to begin with, but it comes in very short bursts. But that is PERFECT for what I wanted, or it would have driven me crazy!

Possibly indestructible!
This ball is made of a very heavy duty material, which I think even my Airedale (who can destroy most toys in 20 minutes or less) will find tough to destroy. It is a bit heavy, I assume from the "giggle" mechanism inside, but she is able to pick it up with no problem. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the sound it makes -- it doesn't sound like a "giggle"-- more like a clicking sound. To get it to make a more elaborate noise, I have to pick it up and shake it and even then, it isn't a "giggle". Still, my dog does notice the sound it makes and she does respond to it most of the time.

Giggle sound doesn’t last..... but ball does!
The rubber ball itself is extremely durable!! Barely even a tooth mark in it after 2 hours of solid play! But....,the giggle sound just quit after about an hour of play! My dog was only playing with it in the house! He loves it..... he hasn’t put it down since I opened the package and gave it to him! But the giggle sound just stopped working!

Seems a tough dog ball, heaver than I expected. I wish I could confirm it's indestructible but it may be too soon to say for sure, however It has been around about a week and our dog hasn't as yet damaged or destroyed it as she does with 99% of the toys we buy her. Be careful as this balls weight and fairly hard rubber makes a decent projectile for smashing windows and other fragile objects if you can through it hard enough.

Tough but heavy
First one arrived with a broken squeaker second one the squeaker only lasted two days. But the ball itself is tough and is good for my Shepherd it’s a little heavy so watch your toes when they drop it.

Sturdy ball but
Giggler lasted 10 seconds before getting pushed into the ball.

Excellent product!
One of the only toys that my aggressive chewer loves and that lasts! I love watching her tear around with it outside and hearing the giggled! Her last one lasted over a year of daily throws and runs.
