Great toy, but not as good as the original
2023 Mattel Jurassic World Dino Trackers “Strike Attack” Genyodectes serus The “Extreme Damage” version of the Genyodectes was one of the last releases for Jurassic World Dominion, and was one of my favorites of that assortment. Even though the Dominion version is still readily available at many Walmart stores, the retooled Dino Trackers version is already beginning to hit store shelves. The sculpt is completely identical between the two, so if you’re familiar with the “Extreme Damage” figure, then you know what to expect. What’s new is the addition of a “Strike Attack” action feature, and a new color scheme. The action feature is one we’ve seen dozens of times before. A simple button press causes the jaws to snap closed. It works perfectly, and the spring feels stronger than some of the past releases. Unfortunately, the new action feature comes at a cost. This latest version loses the articulated neck of the original, and the mouth cannot stay closed unassisted. All other articulation is unchanged. The paint scheme is the most drastic change. While I do like the paint scheme here, it’s a bit more basic than the previous version. It is a believable coloration, and the applications are certainly more complex than some of Mattel’s past offerings, so that’s a plus. Overall, this is a decent addition to the line, even if it is inferior to the original release. If you can only choose one, I would go for the Extreme Damage version. However, if you cannot find that one, if you want to build a pack, or if you just prefer the colors, then you should absolutely pick this one up!

My son loved it!
My son loves anything dinosaur and especially anything Jurassic Park (JP). We bought him a few of the JP toys...which has no turned into about 100 of them. His room looks like Jurassic Park now as they are literally everywhere. At least once a week I wake up and walk into the living room to find about 15-20 dinosaurs all lined up. ???? It's a small price to pay for the joy it brings him.

Less features than other Mattel Jurassic Park dinosaurs
We have quite a few Mattel Jurassic Park / Jurassic World dinosaurs, and although they all all wonderfully molded and colored, some have more features than others. This is one of the most basic dinosaurs in that regard. It does not have any sounds (which I actually like) and it doesn’t bust out of a cage, and it’s only moderately articulated (some of the dinosaurs are highly bendable). This one’s claim to fame is that there is a button you can press to activate its “species specific” movement. In this case, pressing the button makes its jaw clamp shut (in other words, it’s open all the time by default and the only way you shut it is when this button is down). This does have articulation of the stubby arms and legs but is nothing like the articulation of all of the body parts of the Hammond Collection Ankylosaurus we picked up. He is a kind of small guy at 7.5 inches long by 3 inches high. Since this is a bipedal (walks on two feet), it isn’t as sturdy as some other dinosaurs and we have found it falls over easily on carpet. For some reason, they have chosen to have a pull up lever to reveal the code to scan in for the Mattel Jurassic Park World Facts app. (On a lot of our other dinos, this is printed on the foot). You can tell that this is a cheaper model, but to be honest sometimes my son just wants a bunch of different dinos to play with and isn’t as concerned about posing him. If you are in this boat, or want to pick up a cheaper one as a gift, you can pick this one up for a good value. Regardless of this having less features, it is as sturdy as other Mattel JP dinos.

Adorable dino with some fun features
How cute is this dinosaur? Very. There is a lot to love with this little action figure: the arms move up and down; the legs move back and forth; the tail moves in a full circle; and the bottom jaw chomps when you push the button on its back. Rawr! It is such a fun size for play, travel or a collection. The coloring is really nicely done, the scales and various details are well formed, and it chomps! Did I say it chomps? lol It also has a second button-looking section on its back that pulls out so you can find the code to scan into the app. The box didn't really make it clear what to look for in the app store but it is in fact called Jurassic World Facts (look for the one made by Mattel, Inc.). Lots of cool stuff in the app. Here is the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars: the feet are at different angles and different lengths so it will only stand upright when they are in a very specific position. I have found it will also lean on its tail so I guess two options? It does like to fall over if the feet aren't offset just right but overall, this is a super fun find.

Awesome little dinosaur figure ????
This little figure is pretty cool!! My 3 (almost 4 year old) loved it right out of the box. This dinosaur has good articulation with its arms and feet. The dinosaur stands easily with out having to mess around with leg and arm placement to get a good proportional weight balance to get it to be able to stand. It just stands easily which is awesome for my 3/4 year old. This Dino is also pretty cool because it has a little button on the back that can be used to make the Dino open and close his mouth which it a pretty cool engagement component for my kiddo to enjoy while playing. The last cool and unique thing about this Dino is the little chip card that can be read through the Jurassic world facts app. The app is free to download and once it download you can pull out the retractable chip on the dinosaurs spine to scan through the app. Once the dinosaur chip is scanned you can play with two types of augmented related that show the dinosaur and create a fun interactive way of playing and learning about the particular dinosaur toy you have. There’s also a facts page that give some general fun fact about the dinosaur. All in all this is a very fun engaging and interactive toy that my kiddo is having a blast with!! We’re very happy with this Dino figure and would highly recommend it to any kiddo who enjoys dinosaurs. We’ll definitely be looking at getting more of these figures and maybe even getting them for our nephew who also loves dinosaurs!
