Precise tool
We just finished building a massive commercial network, 96,000ft of cable with over 1800 punch downs, this tool is a must have for precise cutting, excellent tool

I think this is a must have for terminating cable
Tool works very well to ensure you just cut the outer sheath, been using a cyclops for 20 years, will continue as long as I am in this field of work.

Saves a ton of time, but flawed
Overall I think this tool is a huge time saver, and works really well(in my case for landscape wire). The reason for 3 stars is because it uses a band for tension instead of a spring. This means over time it'll lose its elasticity quicker and is more susceptible to temperature/environment changes. In my case I accidentally left it for a few hours with a wire still in it. When I try to use it now, the elastic force isn't enough to close the tool on it's own or to cut the jacket, which means I have to push the piece in manually. If this were a spring, it would be a non issue. Sure it was my fault, but in the field there's a higher chance you are going to make mistakes, and this is something that could easily be remedied with a spring.

Best CAT wire striper ever.
The Cyclops was introduced to me 20 years ago and I always have one in my took box, sure if you spin it too many times you can cut the wire inside but once you learn how to use it, you will never use anything else again. CAT5 5, three times around on the minimum direction is perfect every time. leaves the string intact as well. Score and break open.

Exact replica
This is exactly the same thing as the Ideal brand cyclops....made in England and everything. No cable tech should be without them, especially if you terminate CAT5/6.

Thank you-- no more nicked wires in those CAT6 cables
Aside from the finger strength necessary to open the guillotine (you'll see what I mean when you get yours), this gadget works better than any I've tried. It's super simple to operate. Insert your CAT-6 cable (I use UTP), twirl the device once around on the "min" setting, slightly twist off the plastic shield and you're good to go. No nicked wires!

Unusable for cable thicker than 27/64ths inch...
While this might be a good wire stripper for wires that can fit into the device, this device is useless if your cable is thicker than 27/64 inch. I bought this tool to strip a cable with 4 conductors but neither the manufacturer, seller(s), or any reviewers mentioned anything about the maximum dimension size this tool can accommodate. This type of lack of text writing has permeated our society nowadays whereby it seems nobody takes the time to fully describe in detail important facts that should be addressed. Certainly the maximum size of wire this tool can accommodate is significant but as I said, nowhere on Amazon's description, the product leaflet, or anyone's writing did the fact this tool's maximum wire size is 27/64ths inch. My cable is exactly 28/64ths inch so it won't fit through the strip hole making this tool a completely useless tool for me and for anyone looking to strip wire as thick as mine. One other drawback to this device that nobody mentioned is if you need to strip away a specific amount of insulation, and have marked (on the cable) the location where you want to make the cut, YOU. CANNOT SEE THE MARK ON THE CABLE where you indicated you wanted to make the cut because the tool COVERS the cable on both sides of the razor so you cannot place the cable in the exact spot where you want to cut! The only way to solve that problem is by stripping away MORE than you actually want, then CUT the inside conductors down to the length you desire. In other words, you cannot strip away an outer insulation at any particular position because the cable jacket is covered by the tool on both sides of the cutting blade. I know it could be confusing and I apologize if I didn't write what I'm trying to say clearly and succinctly but I tried. Measure the thickness of your cable. If it's thicker than 27/64th of an inch, it's too thick for this tool. Tony

So easy to use. Love it
At first i was concerned that the cutter would damage the twisted pair cables below the Ethernet cable insulation. The cutter neatly slices the insulation open. Give it a few twists and the insulation comes off and the inside twisted pair cables are not touches.

This is the BEST way to strip cable
This is the BEST way to strip cable!! Hands down better than all the others. But keep track of where you put them, this is the third one I have had to replace as the other 2 "grew legs and walked away". It just proves how good they are.
