Bought as replacement for builder's original

This wasn't exactly as the builder used, as his had a flat end on the door contact, but this works. Was super easy to drop on exactly where the old one was.

They work very well.

They are very sturdy and work well. We have used them in the past to protect walls. This time they are preventing the doorknob of the exterior door from hitting the glass front of an antique milliner’s wardrobe that is in the entry of our house. I especially like that I was able to buy antiqued bronze hinge pins to match the other hardware in my home. The installation takes a few minutes but is easy! I’m a 5’ 2” woman, so I used a stepladder for the top hinge, but otherwise I only needed a flat-head screwdriver to ease the hinge-pin out. I only used them on the top and bottom hinges. Then I used a third one on the bottom hinge of the pantry door to keep it from hitting the kitchen cabinet.

Made it work with a Baldwin hinge with screw-in finials!

I am replacing all the hardware in my house with Baldwin, including hinges, and needed a hinge-pin style door stop when replacing one exterior door. Unfortunately, Baldwin doesn't make them, so I had to improvise. Problem #1: The Baldwin hinges are made for interchangeable finials, and as such, have "screw in" ends on their hinges. So it's not as simple as popping out the hinge pin and putting the stop on before replacing. Problem #2: The Baldwin square-corner hinges have a pretty large screw thread, and there's no door stop I've found that has a large enough pivot opening to accommodate the size. Problem #3: The stock Baldwin caps and the replacement finials (for square corner hinges) don't have a long enough thread to make it through a stop and still thread into the hinge. I determined that the square hinges have a 3/8-24 thread. So what I did was buy one of these guys. I then used a step-bit to carefully ream out the pivot on the door stop- a little going through one said, then flip and do the other side, and continued this 3 or 4 times, taking only a little bite each time, making sure to center on the hole so as to not cut too far to one side and destroy the "ring". When it was almost big enough, I used a 3/8" drill bit and finished it off, and rocked it back and forth while drilling to give just a tad extra clearance. I think purchased a black 3/8-24 x 1/2" socket-button head bolt from bolt depot dot com (I used black, since my hinges are oil-rubbed bronze, and it's plenty close enough- look at the pic!). If you have a different finish, you can improvise differently by using paint or some other colorant on the bolt head to try to make it best match the finish of the hinges. Then, since the decorative finial is more more visible on the top (this is the bottom hinge), I installed the door stop on the bottom of the hinge instead of the top where you would normally see it (and where it can only go when using as designed with a removable pin). If you have a Baldwin round corner hinge, those threads are actually a little smaller- 5/16-24 and will fit through the pivot hole on these closers with no drilling! Just by the appropriate 5/16-24 x 1/2" socket button head bolt and you're good to go! (And yes, if you've looked at the picture, I will be repairing the indents left by the prior closer on the old hinge when I repaint the door!)

Doors are always partially closed

These are good with one exception: they don’t allow the door to sit fully open at 90 degrees like other stoppers (installed in the baseboard) do. So imagine all your doors sit partially closed all the time.
