Finally a LONG enough drill bit with a hex shank
I have a bunch of hex-shank bits from other manufacturers in this size, and they are all quite short. I often had to resort to using a regular round drill bit in a drill with a chuck just because of the insufficient length of the hex-shanked ones. So far IRWIN is the only manufacturer that makes these bits while not sacrificing the length and their drill bits are 1/2" to 3/4" longer compared to the same size bits of other brands. I initially bought just this particular size (7/64"), but soon ended up buying the whole 12-piece set of varying sizes.

Usual drill bit
It’s a routine drill bit that’s works as expected. I would purchase again when necessary.

Great drill bit, impact ready.
Used it a lot to initialize deck screws so that they were straight from the outset. The drill bit worked very well and is just as sharp now as it was when I began. Used the bit to replace one in a set that was impact drill ready and this one worked just as well as the original. Only used it on wood, but after setting 10 lbs of deck screws it is still in pretty much original condition without dulling, bending, or breaking. Ever need to replace another bit, will look at Irwin bits to begin with.

Good quality at a decent price
We go through 7/64" bits like crazy, my husband tends to push too hard when using them on hardwood or metal and they break at the shaft, so it always seems like I'm buying more. We've done the cheap-o Harbor Freight versions, but the Irwin brand is not much more money and holds a sharp tip longer than the cheaper ones. They also seem to have better strength against breakage, even when my husband is using them. Now, if I could just train him to use a little less pressure, I wouldn't be buying these so often!

1-1/2" ength is a plus!
This bit begins cutting right away and will drill through 1.5" of wood only requiring several back-outs to clear the flutes. The top seller is the length. Many other packaged 1/4" hex quick-change bits are "jobber" length thus only about 1" to 1-1/8". This 7/64" bit is a common pilot for a #8 screw, so it gets a lot of use.

Great, strong bit
Can be used to create a hole to tap 6-32 threads. I like the hex end which is more versatile as to what kind of chuck you have on your drill. This style goes in any drill.

No matter how careful I am with small drill bits ...
No matter how careful I am with small drill bits, they sometimes meet their demise when drilling in a tough spot. The Irwin bits are fairly priced and durable enough for years of use if I do my part.

This is a fine drill bit
This is a fine drill bit, however, I cannot give mine a 5-Star rating, due to the fact that it has a minor bend where it should be totally straight.
