Awesome for our Dubia Roaches
We needed a heating pad for our Dubia Roaches. They are in a storage bin, but also need a good source of heat to breed and thrive. Our Bearded Dragon loves these guys, so whatever we can do to keep his organic food source alive… all in all so far, so good.

Purchased for hamster
Our hamster is sometimes in a room that gets around 59 degrees F... Concerned that the air heat might be overkill we placed this under her cage. We kept this on or plugged in day and night (there is no heat control on our unit). Her cage has a plastic floor. We noticed that she moved her big bedding pile AWAY from the heated side of her cage. Also, we generally feed her plenty of food. We noticed that she's grown fatter and spending more time sleeping / quasi-hibernating in a bigger pile of cardboard bedding than we saw earlier at the pet store (we can't compare the situation to last year as this is the first year we've had her). I say quasi-hibernating because at odd night hours she loves to get exercise! Running the treadmill and shaking the cage - even climbing upside down on the wire top! Her cage bottom has become slightly warped due to the heat. However, it's relatively thick plastic AND we used wood blocks to raise the cage just above the heater. The plastic hasn't melted and and so for seems fine. We never taped the heating pad so it's been easy to remove it. If it makes sense we could re-sell this item as its hardly been used and is in good condition. For now we are HAPPY to keep this heater just in case she seems to need it. PS - One thing I've found helpful months after purchase: This seller / mfr'r has posted a PDF of the owners manual on Amazon. They also sent a paper one. I'm happy with both (and they match). The online one helps me save time and money scanning. Thanks!

Great quality
Got these for my hermit crab tank, they aren't flimsy or thin and wrinkly, they are flat firm and adhere solidly to the tank. I wish they had a temperature dial, but so far they're kicking off just enough heat that were not getting too hot. Worth every penny!

Excelent fit for my wine or beer carboy!
With my Inkbird 308 WIFI I can cotrol the temp of two carboys very well. Lay the heater on a styrofoam then the carboys and wraped a beach towel over everything. Was able to push temp more than 20 degrees above room temp.

Undersized tank/Oversized pad. Doesn't heat up tank for hermit crabs. Useless.
I have bought a ton of iPower branded stuff since 2016, from large inline fans to hi-wattage bulbs, etc: Never been disappointed with a single one of those purchases. So when looking for a tank heating pad for my sons two hermit crabs and I found this iPower product, I bought it straight away. The 8"x18" iPower Terrarium Reptile Heating Pad Under Tank Warmer Heater Mat with Digital Thermostat. The packaging, and listing, claim the 8"x18" size is for "50-60 Gallon Tank Use". We would be putting it on a 10 gallon tank. I bought mega-oversized for our tank because we live in a cold climate and indoor/room temps can get down to 65 degrees in the winter. Figured bigger is better and the controller will moderate (what I thought would be a high output heating pad so we wouldn't have to worry about cooking the poor hermies) the temp anyway. Tank is even half full of sand (at room temp of 68 degrees and the air in the tank can't get warmer than 74 degrees). I attached the pad on the back of the tank using the 3M adhesive installed on the pad, taking up the entire back glass from side to side and 2/3'rds of the height from top to bottom. Normal type install for hermit crabs and we set the temp probe for the thermostat 3" from the back wall/heat source. I wanted no more than 85 degrees at the probe, so set the thermostat to that temp. Never even got close. It's been more than a week, certainly more than enough time to have been given a fair chance at functioning. Can't get heat at the probe to be more than 74-76 degrees. Even an inch away from the pad at the top of the tank -where it should be the warmest-, we have a humidity meter/thermometer and it hasn't gotten warmer than 77 degrees. At the time I took the attached pics the ambient room temp was 68 degrees, the thermometer was reading 77 degrees and the probe reading was at 72 degrees. The sand at the front bottom of the tank, furthest away from the heat source, was 68 degrees/ room temp (taken with an infrared thermometer). The pad wasn't producing any decent heat, anywhere in the tank. This heating pad simply doesn't work as it should. I will be sending it back if I can. I just hope i can get it unstuck from the tank, because the adhesive is the only thing that does seem to be working. I'll keep buying the other iPower stuff I've bought before, but this item is a piece of junk.

Excellent heat mats
I've been using 2 of these constantly for 2 years now on the underside of my frogs terrariums and they've held up great. I control them with a thermostat, so they don't run constantly. No problems whatsoever. Great product!

I bought this to keep my red wigglers warm outside in the winter.
I didn't buy this for a reptile cage, so I can't comment about adhesion or temperature control. I bought this to use on top of the red wiggler worm bin that sits outside under cover all winter. I just put down a plastic garbage bag on top of the soil and then the heat mat on top of that. It heats up enough that the worms can get close and stay warm or they can move away if it gets too warm. My huge worm bin is inside my barn and has a plastic cover as well as a blanket over the top. So far I have not seen any slow down in activity and have actually been feeding more often. It will be great to have all that worm compost this spring when I start my garden and when the worms don't need it any longer I can use it as a germination mat for my seeds. Great product at a good price. Thank you!!

NOT FOR HERMIT CRABS!
I bought 2 of these to put on the back of my hermit crab tank as a heat source. On the first day I started to notice excess humidity in the air on the right side of the tank, where the heater is. Over the next few weeks I struggled to find the cause of the excess humidity, bone dry sand (it should be sandcastle consistency but it wasn’t, especially near the heater), and low temperature. I suspected the heater but there were things preventing me from taking them off, including disturbing the crabs. I must have mixed and misted the sand on the right side about a dozen times, even adding more eco earth, while the left side was perfect. After I exhausted all options and no hermit crab expert could tell me a reason beyond “your temperature-humidity gauge is broken”, I decided to trust my instincts and rip both heaters off and replace with a Reptile Basics type heat pad. Within a day, my sand was moist, my heat rose above 80, and my humidity dropped significantly. Conditions in the tank have been perfect since and my crabs are happy. My biggest concern was the dry sand, if a crab buried itself, the tunnels could collapse if the sand is too dry and kill him. It also made the sand very hot, which can burn them. This heat pad may work for reptiles or other animals, but not for hermit crab enclosures. Go for the other type of heat pad, not this or a lamp.

Poor Adhesive
I like this heat mat, it's not too hot and is able to warm substrate that is several inches (3-4) deep. However, I am extremely frustrated because it has fallen off the bottom of my glass terrarium TWICE. The adhesive does not stick well to the tank; which is what it is supposed to do. How am I supposed to use this product if it keeps falling off?
